If you put a spacer between the bottom of the muffin tin and the Dutch oven, you shouldn’t get that burning on the bottom of the muffins. You need about an inch of air between the two surfaces. Small (1 inch diameter) stones or balls of aluminum foil work well. “Shug” Emery has a (old)video on ‘dry baking’ which is what you’re doing there. Have you ever watched the 3 Minutes with a Maine Guide channel?
Lol I actually watch both Shug and Lisa from 3 Minutes! I know the video does not show it super well, but the tin actually did not go all the way to the bottom of the dutch oven, it was so wide it kinda "balanced" in the middle. I do definitely still need the risers though for some future campfire cooking ideas.

Great video as always! And we had a very similar bear encounter at Ross Pond. Something big came in and would not leave, probably at like 8pm. We yelled and banged stuff and it sat and watched us for almost 10 minutes. We saw eyeshine as well. Finally, it left on it's own, but slowly. Always unnerving when they don't get scared off!

So far it only looks like you ran into a Bear once back in there and I'm glad he decided to leave you alone. Great adventures, really enjoy watching! The reason you should never throw fish guts or clean fish in the water is due to the parasite that causes whirling disease. If you have never seen a trout that has been affected, it is a very sad sight for sure. The parasite is in Adirondack waters, unfortunately.
Sorry for the late reply Scott, I have been super busy running around since ice-out. I use Sixgill Halfling rods with a Sixgill Reaver reel on one rod and a Banshee reel on the other. Both of them have braid loaded onto the reel with a mono/fluro leader about 6 feet long attached to the braid.
Why do you not say where you are if it's all public? I live in St Regis area and some of it looks familiar and some I can't exactly tell where you were.. nice trip though man.. I'll be out there soon

@@DaxWoodsWanderer You can shave down the barb, this is less traumatic, but you're going to have more fish flop off the hook. I use a seven-inch hemostat that is curved. grab the fish by the bottom jaw this is well tolerated and you can hoist them out of the water with little damage. If you are looking to get photo control the head with the clamp, with the other hand cradle the fish in your palm as close to the tail as you can maintain control. Not that it matters to me I have really had a hard time trout and landlocks. The water has been warm and the bottom vegetation has grown to the point its a challenge to get my fly to the fish. I've been told the booming population of Loons and Osprey could be the source.
I totally get your concern, but I make sure to wet my hands, hold them up REAL quick for the camera and then try to place them in the net to recover until they are ready to go. A lot of that gets cut out in the video and you just see it swim away, but I really do try to do everything I can to make sure the fish swim away safely. I really appreciate you watching the video!
When I’m paddling solo in a windy condition I normally add enough weight (rocks) in the bow of my canoe to reduce the “sail effect”.

In NY, you have to be 100 feet from the shores edge to dump fish entrails.
