Every time we visit the badgers, they do something surprising!
This time the female badger found a stone in the garden and brought it to their place (not in the video) and then used the stone as a tool in order to break the glass.

The fact that the other badger is pacing means they are exceedingly bored and stressed. These intelligent animals need more than a boring enclosure.

These badgers are very intelligent, and keeping them in there is driving them insane,not a good sight to see.
They're going insane, that's what's wrong with them. The repetitive behaviour of the other badger makes that obvious. They shouldn't be in such a shitty cramped environment. They're intelligent animals who need space and mental enrichment. This is just down right cruel. Anywhere that keeps animals in such inadequate situations should be closed the fuck down, no questions asked.
And all people can do is point and laugh, and make videos of their suffering. The general mentality of the world today. Makes me sick.
This video breaks my heart. All that noise is causing severe stress for these animals :-(

Actually really sad, that one has gone nuts, look at his pacing and the other desperately looking to escape. One of the only animals smart enough to use tolls should not be kept in a tiny enclosure.

Unfortunately badger can't really grab the stone with his one paw. If he could use both paws to hold it and smash against the window however he might be successfull given badgers' legendary strength.

Yeah, there will always be effects to captive animals, but the few in captivity do more for the species overall. It creates so much love and appreciation for the animal with population. Let’s face it, human beings have kept countless species of animals from going extinct. When the population cares, many animal species will stave off extinction as a result

If I were raising a badger, I would work my hardest, my very hardest, and nothing short of my hardest to make certain that there are ZERO escape assist items in the badger pen. That would mean that I would have that badger alcatraz 100% barren, knowing that the badger could use literally anything as an escape assist item.
Them bandages are CLEARLY going insane being stuck in a tiny enclosure like this. The one in the back is constantly pacing because of extreme constant stress and the other one is desperately trying to escape because he knows they’re both suffering. This is cruelty. You should NEVER keep badgers as pets or in cages/ tiny spaces. They’re very energetic and need TONS of space.

@ramon puentes These are honey badgers and they require a very large space with many things inside to keep them busy. These are the highest level energy animals and will develop severe mental issues if not properly cared for. Their enclouser is a joke and not healthy for them.

I generally don’t have a big problem with animals being in some sort of captivity if they are given the Spence they need along with everything else, but it’s clear they don’t have enough room here. They are going crazy and it’s not cute.

This animal shouldn't be in captivity, part of there genetic make is to be able to move up to 25 miles a day, I don't think it's a good ideal to piss those little guys off!!!!
I have seen the repeated back and forth movement by a bear in a zoo and I was concerned just like the badger in this one. Vets should find out why zoo causes this mental illness

I seen lot worse honey badgers home in other zoos like Higashiyama 東山 zoo in Toyama, 富山, Japan where people are giggling loud and the honey badgers have barely space to lie down as if they are so close to the crowds they might actually collide with the noisy crowds.
We can witness the severe psychological issues in the badger pacing.

I’m sorry, but the Honey Badger in the back running back & forth, yeah he/she is displaying _stereotypical behaviors._ After the first few minutes, the female with the rock is also displaying stereotypical behavior. This usually means the animal is either depressed or in distress.
How do I know this?! When I was in the first year of university, one of my Profs was asked to assess a Polar Bear at our local Zoo. She was seen pacing back & forth in this one tiny section of her enclosure, head was down & after a while, she refused to eat. She was put on Prozac but it did little to help. She died & there hasn’t been polar bears there since. As much as I would love to see Honey Badgers & other animals up close & personal, some animals just can’t be kept in captivity, even for conservation purposes. Or the zoo is not providing enough enrichment for the animal. In this case, if the zoo can’t give the animal what they need, it’s best to just send them to a place that can & let them help with conservation
