As a die hard Bruin fan I gotta say that I've never had anything but the up most respect for these Montreal Canadien legends. These guys over the years were true Bruin killers in a lot of games we played against them, or any NHL team for that matter. I used to cringe as a kid knowing we had to play against these guys because they were so steeped in talent. I tip my hat and again want to say thanks to them for all the great games they played over the years and for entertaining fans everywhere.
I was there that night (December 4, 2009, for the 100th anniversary of the Montreal Canadiens). On the ticket, the game was scheduled for 8PM, but it was also written Celebrations at 6h30PM… but we didn’t know what to expect as there had been no advertisement beforehand. This video does not totally capture the power of the sound, because the roof almost lifted when the crowd realized the Legends were there… I still get goosebumps. A really great evening for great players. Montreal IS Hockeytown. ;-)
Bruins fan to. It’s not about what team you are for. Seeing that talent from the past there it’s about the passion and the history of hockey there. Alumni and hall of famers! I wish I could have been there!!! Great video and thank you.
All those legends on the ice...what a moment! And you know that no matter what their ages, when they hit that ice, they felt like little boys on frozen ponds again.
Seriously cool, and all those hockey names take me back... man. So awesome of Kenny Dryden to rock the old-school goalie pads! And I'm not surprised it took two sirens to get Patrick Roy off the ice, I bet he thinks he could still do a better job than some of these younger goalies.
As a die hard Habs fan while growing up as a young goaltender, Patrick Roy was my idol and his trade was one of the worst days of my childhood...I think other fans and goalies can relate. When I watched this celebration live, I will admit I got quite emotional seeing Roy wearing the 33 to skate on the ice for one last time. Will never forget this.
Hell yeah I agree. Roy is my fav player of alltime and when Mario Trembley forced Roy to stay in net for those 9 goals vs Detroit in 1995, and Roy's career in Montreal being ended, I was pissed off to say the least. Seeing him come out like this, and first to boot, was amazing....got chocked up myself. As a side note...it would have been great to see Dryden in net...standing there with the goalie stick in his classic pose.
same here Apex ...started watchin the habs in the 83 84 season , loved Steve Penney but was soon replaced as my favorite by the skinny 19 year old goalie with the white mask :)
Flyers fan since their first year, but as a kid in the driveway, I wore a Habs sweater with 14 on the back! Rejean! If only Philly had the tradition that runs so deep, the echos of all those who have worn the crest, the greatest hockey organization ever! I got chills seeing these greats skating once more; so many names and faces from my younger days,so many great hockey memories! I’ve never even been to Montreal, but there’s always been, and always will be part of my heart that pumps blood that’s Bleu, Blanc et Rouge!
Unreal. Brings back some great memories. I was at a Montreal summer camp in '74 or 75 (can't recall the year) but it was my first time away from home on my own for 2 glorious weeks. I played in net and on the 1st day, my fav player, Yvan Cournoyer was teaching some of the other guys how to shoot low and hard and I was in goal for the session. The first 2 or 3 shots I didn't even see :) I did manage to save a couple after that but the whole episode was a blur of nerves and high emotions. Wonderful seeing him and the rest looking well.
To see SO MANY true legends of the game on the ice at one time is just incredible. As a goalie fanatic seeing Dryden & Roy on the ice in full gear was mind blowingly AMAZING!!!
I didn't even know this clip existed. Big thrill to see my hero Dryden with pads on, even if he did look 50 lbs too heavy. I remember how I cried (I was 11) when he retired. To this day , I've still had sleep dreams of Dryden playing until the mid 80's.......then waking up and laughing about it. He still had 4 years left. He was one of a kind !
Watched this live.... had goosebumps when I saw Eddie throw the pucks to the ice, and pretty much had my jaw to the floor for the rest of this bit.... Had a band rehearsal that night, got delayed because of this... Good upload! =)
As much of a Leafs fan I may be, this brings a warm feeling to my heart seeing some of the greatest players to play the game. Loved the reception when Dryden came out!
Felt like Field of Dreams for hockey. It was sad when I heard the siren; it was like mom had called them all in for dinner. Watching them slip into the dark walk under the stands at the end of the skate was like watching them fade into the corn field. They returned to the glory of childhood memories and into every arena where hockey is played.
This was held on December 4th, 2009, for Habs 100th anniversary. Players were originally not supposed to shoot on the goalies. You will noticed that Ken Dryden was not wearing his goalie mask as he cannot see without his glasses and could not wear them with his mask. Players kept their shots low on him. At the other end, players were shooting more freely on Patrick Roy has he appeared fully dressed. Patrick Roy later admitted to keep his pads a bit more close together. Not expecting shots on him, he was not wearing a jock!
They all seem to be able to skate pretty good. Even the goaltenders. And growing up in Kitchener-Waterloo area I start feeling really old when I remember some of these players playing for and against the Kitchener Rangers!
its amazing how these old guys can step on the ice and skate and shoot, you would think that they would be somewhat crippled from their career, not even mentioning that some of them r like 70
I've been to the Bell Centre once... it's magical.. I bussed it to MTL from TO... watched the game and came back... my pops never saw the Habs in MTL and they said is was sold out but no one sat to the right of me..... that was the game we beat Boston 3-2 in OT i think it was January 8 or somewhere near there... greatest experience of my life.. and i've watched pro football (soccer) in europe when i was a kid. The habs jersey just makes me feel good.. the Toronto (where I live) jersey is cold.
To watch Roy AND Dryden skate on the same ice at the same time is just remarkable, especially when we can all see Dryden's famous mask on the top of his net.
As a life long Ranger fan from the time of the six team league this trills the heck out of me......thanks a ton......boy Kenny Dryden sure beefed up a bit.....but than again ,so have I. Wow ! I wish I could give you two thumbs up for this one.....
Even though I am a Flyers fan, you have to say the Habs are without a doubt the greatest Hockey Franchise of all time...class all they way....its wonderful to see all those legends on the ice.....boy do I remember The Roadrunner back in the early 70's...and of course Lafleur....what history!
I’m with you! Remember taking buses and subway to go to the Spectrum, pay $4.50 or $5.50 at the door, sit about 14 rows back in the corner, and watch the greatest players of the greatest game on earth! The names read like a walk through the Hall of Fame!
...the sheer amount of Stanley Cup power on that ice is simply staggering...and to think how many have passed on to add to this group...no other team will likely be able to pull this off.......least not in my time....
i get so excited to watch the habs play, when the games on im in my own world CAN YOU HANDLE THE FORECHECK PRESSURE OF THE CANADIENS I LOVE YOU MONTREAL AND ALL WHO HAS PLAYED FOR THE CANADIENS GOHABSGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not everyone understand what this team means to some of us. To me the Montreal Canadiens was a way to connect with my grand parents, especially my grandfather.
These guys probably could beat today's teams. Even though Lafleur was older, he still looks exciting. When God created the perfect hockey player, he made Guy Lafluer. RIP Guy.
God help the Ref who makes a call, he'll have 18 guys all wearing C's there to debate the call with him lol! Looks like an amazing event and another example of how the Montreal Organization understands the history of the game, and is truly the Class of the NHL when it comes to showcasing it.
The Habs are the last team I will ever cheer for but I respect their history and events like this make you want to be a Montreal fan, but that will never happen. Go Rangers.
I think he's wearing the Reebok Revoke series pads because they are designed by Lefebvre. I have a set(was against them till I tried on a set). Not too bad for my budget. I read Patrick's book and it metions many times in there about him taking pads to Lefebrve to be modified throughout his career (the old Koho pads he wore).
actually he demanded the trade, A new coach came into montreal and before that the previous coach let Patrick roy miss practices and such but the new coach didn't, he was pretty mad but that wasn't it. One time patrick roy had a bad game but instead of taking roy off and putting the back up on, the coach made roy stay on so yea, roy got pretty mad and Id say that the fact that theylet in this bad coach was a bad idea
I wish all hockey fans where like you, not blinded with hatred because of rivalries. Instead you bring knowledge wisdom and respect. Of course you won't cheer for your opponent but today's kids take it way to far with their comments. Hockey is the best sport, lets respect its history and traditions no matter what team you cheer for!
As a die hard Bruin fan I gotta say that I've never had anything but the up most respect for these Montreal Canadien legends. Now that was cool! Dryden & Roy! Robinson & Lafleur! Wow! Scotty Bowman, the best ever! You gotta love it!
As a Bruins fan I still have the utmost respect for the Canadiens organization. A real classy operation up there and classy players too.
BRUINS
...and as a Habs fan I don't mind if all that classy is chucked out the window here and there when the Bruins are in town... :)
As a Montreal Canadiens Fan, I sincerely want to thank you for your comment. I mean it with all my heart.
Bruins fan to. It’s not about what team you are for. Seeing that talent from the past there it’s about the passion and the history of hockey there. Alumni and hall of famers! I wish I could have been there!!! Great video and thank you.
As a Habs fan I'd pay to see Orr, Cheevers, Esposito, O'Reilly Johnathan, etc do this same thing at TD Garden.
Dryden and Roy in goal at the same time. I've been to heaven.
All those legends on the ice...what a moment! And you know that no matter what their ages, when they hit that ice, they felt like little boys on frozen ponds again.
So much talent reunited in one place.
god my whole life is passing before my eyes
im so proud to be from this great city
This sends chills down my spine. What a fantastic moment / A Flyers Fan.
Isles fan here, much respect for les habitants...get chills watching all of those greats on the ice at the same time..
Seriously cool, and all those hockey names take me back... man. So awesome of Kenny Dryden to rock the old-school goalie pads! And I'm not surprised it took two sirens to get Patrick Roy off the ice, I bet he thinks he could still do a better job than some of these younger goalies.
+L-1011 Widebody ...He could
+Nick S. No he could not he is to old and the game has changed a lot but he was great in his time
Hockey Goalie See kids, this is what we call a joke...
Just his personality 😉
Hey Nick S he could skate circles around guys like bernier reimer talbot and neimi even at his age
As a die hard Habs fan while growing up as a young goaltender, Patrick Roy was my idol and his trade was one of the worst days of my childhood...I think other fans and goalies can relate. I don't agree he seemed to have more fun after the trade Plant and Dryden two best goalies period.
same here Apex ...started watchin the habs in the 83 84 season , loved Steve Penney but was soon replaced as my favorite by the skinny 19 year old goalie with the white mask :)
James Nash Dryden and Plante played with powerhouse teams in Montréal not Patrick , Roy is the best period.
Patrick Richer no he isn't PERIOD
You got half the hockey hall of fame right there
R.I.P Maurice, sad you couldn't be there 😥 -1 True Legend...
As a Maple Leaf ...Nervous Moment ..look at the Talent on ice..so many great memories
Class Organization top to bottom💥💯
Sad that Maurice Richard and others couldn't be there😓
The Great One is resting eternally
@@kagura222 Gretzky's doing fine
I'm sure he was looking down from above and cheering them on.
Flyers fan since their first year, but as a kid in the driveway, I wore a Habs sweater with 14 on the back! Rejean! Just Amazing! What a historic franchise.
I wish I was there. It's was great to see
Ken Dryden again. WOW, what memories!

This video blew me away. What a beautiful moment caught in time on video.
The greatest team with the biggest fan base in all of sport.
Dryden is the best goalie. People have to see him play and will see his greatness shine when he put in those pads. Living legend forever a Hab.
doesn't matter how old they are they still have that swagger.
Watched this live.... had goosebumps when I saw Eddie throw the pucks to the ice, and pretty much had my jaw to the floor for the rest of this bit.... Had a band rehearsal that night, got delayed because of this... Good upload! =)
Am a Sens fan but have great respect for the Habs tradition since the 70s. All the best to Montreal from Ottawa-Gatineau!
This is what being a "Montreal Canadien" is ........Merci/Thankyou !!!
Lafleur still looks like he could score, Robinson like he could man a power play, and Nilan like he could beat the crap out of someone!
That's the most talent I have ever seen on the ice at one time. Thanks Habs. I wonder how many Cup wins are represented here.
Nilan jumping on the ice like he's 20 years old, was great.
As much of a Leafs fan I may be, this brings a warm feeling to my heart seeing some of the greatest players to play the game. Loved the reception when Dryden came out!
Seeing Guy Lafleur in a Habs jersey made my heart skip a beat.
Felt like Field of Dreams for hockey. It was sad when I heard the siren; it was like mom had called them all in for dinner. Watching them slip into the dark walk under the stands at the end of the skate was like watching them fade into the corn field. Waaaaaaaaay too cool. Complete respect for the Habs. Just the most historic org in the game by far. I got goosebumps can't lie :D

Who cares ! It was great
two words : DREAM TEAM
This is why the Habs will always be the royalty of the NHL
Stop what you're doing and take this in! I don't think any sports team ever can or will do this! Pure heaven [chills]
They all seem to be able to skate pretty good. Even the goaltenders.
And growing up in Kitchener-Waterloo area I start feeling really old when I remember some of these players playing for and against the Kitchener Rangers!

Glorious!! These guys would sell out any rink!!!!
To watch Roy AND Dryden skate on the same ice at the same time is just remarkable, especially when we can all see Dryden's famous mask on the top of his net.
Ever notice how all these great guys kept their hair?
My gosh, I respect you man :) You're not an immature/disrespectful fan! So much respect. :)
Hi I'm Mars (: very true. I agree 😉
WOW, doI ever wish I could have been there! Roy and Dryden on the ice together
As a life long Ranger fan from the time of the six team league this trills the heck out of me......thanks a ton......boy Kenny Dryden sure beefed up a bit.....but than again ,so have I. Wow ! I wish I could give you two thumbs up for this one.....
So much history...

Everybody taking there time. Roy “ I’m 20 again “
RIP Doug Harvey
Another Habs great player for the ages
Greatest sports franchise of all time. Take that Celtics, Lakers, Yankees, Steelers, 49ers and packers.
Wayne Johanson maybe not the steelers
...the sheer amount of Stanley Cup power on that ice is simply staggering...and to think how many have passed on to add to this group...no other team will likely be able to pull this off.......least not in my time....
Some of you Bruins fans are legit classy. You're the ones that make this rivalry great and fun.
Une chance qu'il reste les légendes...
this is the REAL rink of dreams....right here
nowadays hockey suck so much that old timer game are better than the 'real' thing
i get so excited to watch the habs play, when the games on im in my own world
CAN YOU HANDLE THE FORECHECK PRESSURE OF THE CANADIENS
I LOVE YOU MONTREAL AND ALL WHO HAS PLAYED FOR THE CANADIENS
GOHABSGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate the present day Canadians now but let me say it is an honor to watch these legends take the ice.
Not everyone understand what this team means to some of us. To me the Montreal Canadiens was a way to connect with my grand parents, especially my grandfather.
Roy ´s pads are awesome
Can you imagine the type of team this would be all together if they were all in their prime? Almost unstoppable!!!!!!
That would put 1976-77 in jeopardy
Gotta love how the seniors are mostly using wood sticks here.
Roy said afterwards he was so nervous he forgot to wear his jockstrap.
He doesnt need one there is nothing there
Yeah real i bet u looked down ur pants to find this joke.. Oh and by the roy has more fucking balls than you
Man, seeing patrick Roy in Reeboks hurts my soul a little bit, but dryden coming out without a mask was the baller reveal I needed
Classiest organization in sports. Period.
hard to watch this video, so much emotions !
Most of them in the hall of fame, Montreal Canadiens Legends, the greatest organization in the world.
R.I.P The Rocket
Thanks for being classy! Not often we see that from Bruins fans. I have respect for you!
These guys probably could beat today's teams. Even though Lafleur was older, he still looks exciting. When God created the perfect hockey player, he made Guy Lafluer. RIP Guy.
Cheers to you as well, my friend!
I love the chanting for Eddie the equipment guy at the beginning - took care of so many hall of fame players HE should be in the hall...
Funny, my buddy is a bruins fan while I am a habs fan. We always have fun !
My all time Hab favourite, Larry Robinson
They should have asked Chelios, Corson, d. Savard
God help the Ref who makes a call, he'll have 18 guys all wearing C's there to debate the call with him lol! Looks like an amazing event and another example of how the Montreal Organization understands the history of the game, and is truly the Class of the NHL when it comes to showcasing it.
This is the best idea ever!!
Not a Habs fan but this is 100% pure class... I hope Edmonton does this after McDavid and Draisitil win 5 cups!!
some of the best hockey player ever
Luv Guy Lafleur, so many Stanley cup champs on the same ice , where’s lemaire , trembley , lapointe nuthin but “WoW” ...! Full of Nostalgia..,’
AWESOME
Mike Keane tabarnack!
The Habs are the last team I will ever cheer for but I respect their history and events like this make you want to be a Montreal fan, but that will never happen. Go Rangers.

Lets just see if the 2019-20 ones can make us proud again!!!!
Would have been amazing to get all those autographs.
I think he's wearing the Reebok Revoke series pads because they are designed by Lefebvre. I have a set(was against them till I tried on a set). Not too bad for my budget. The Roy trade was montreals worst move ever he should of stayed a Hab till the end
actually he demanded the trade, A new coach came into montreal and before that the previous coach let Patrick roy miss practices and such but the new coach didn't, he was pretty mad but that wasn't it. One time patrick roy had a bad game but instead of taking roy off and putting the back up on, the coach made roy stay on so yea, roy got pretty mad and Id say that the fact that theylet in this bad coach was a bad idea
he wanted to leave
Mario Tremblay was also the worst coach in Montreal Canadiens history ....
No lie
blame it on Mario tremblay
He asked for it after the red wings game Mario handled it very poorly
I wish all hockey fans where like you, not blinded with hatred because of rivalries. Instead you bring knowledge wisdom and respect. Of course you won't cheer for your opponent but today's kids take it way to far with their comments. Hockey is the best sport, lets respect its history and traditions no matter what team you cheer for!
@Fernie2014 toronto IS an original 6 hockey team. Bruins, Blackhawks, Redwings, Rangers, Canadians, Leafs.
We still love Roy in Colorado
you're a hockey fan, and a gentleman.. if every Leafs fan was like u, we wouldn't have a rivalry.. so DON'T spread the word! :)
I was waitin for Dryden to come out
Quand moi j ai vu Dryden c est un miracle , my God MERCI ...
vous etes sublimes les gars une page d histoire incroyable , merci !
