imo what could make the seasonal servers work is if you either carry over your tradeskill progress, or if each prestige carried some useful reward that you wouldn't be able to get if you didn't prestige
Jay, one thing I noticed in the patch notes, and people aren't talking about it is the locations and enemies to obtain the new artifacts. Those places and bosses are not currently in the game so that would suggest we are getting an unannounced new zone or they got around to revamping one of the old zones. They said that they were working on RW, RS & MD. Looking forward to some surprises.
This is just another subtle message to us New World fans that they cannot sustain developing new content at a proper pace, so they are adapting seasonal servers like most ARPG's & OSRS, except with basically 0 new content, so I'm not sure how this game will ever get a proper playerbase. When levelling to max takes a couple days to a week max, and it feels like a chore not a journey, and gear progression is still pretty bad and limited to 1 or 2 pieces of content. I'm just not sure how they will make enough changes to even justify a proper league, but that's just me who is actually into PoE leagues and OSRS leagues, NW league seems very bareboned.
The seasonal servers are going to be a huge failure. I personally like the idea, but AGS' implementation of it is going to be really bad. They would need to have a lot of unique content that would make it worth for players to keep starting fresh. AGS simply isn't capable of doing a lot. They will only ever make a few very shallow small changes that don't really change up the experience much.
@NewWorldOddity Jay, you by mentioning stagger issue is a clear example of how the game is still in Alpha Version. This mechanic is a Core Foundation of a Combat System and it needs more work and polishing.
I started my fifth character on a fresh start server and was having fun. Only had to wait 5 or 6 minutes between dungeon runs. But after the three random dailies I was only making about 100 gold per expedition (compared to last season where I could make 900 a run. It took me 5 weeks to finally save up enough to buy trophies for all my houses and make one combined trophy (160K gold). Then I had to wait until 3 in the morning every week to get my coconut from pvp island without getting ganked so I can upgrade my gear to 725 because I can't find a group to complete the new trial (tried it 12 times and failed on the first boss and everyone quit). It feels like such an uphill grind. Gonna take a break for a season or so, at least until there's better loot for dungeons. And I won't have to curse when my game crashes in the middle of Ennead.
Mutated Expeditions AI improvements can't wait to see how substantial they are. Now the questions are. are they making Expeditions encounters more dynamic than they were before ? How will it affect gameloop?
I think seasons only work in ARPGs because the good ones include a ton of unique content, loot, and mechanics that make each one interesting. Unless they have a dozen crazy surprises they haven't shared with us yet, I honestly don't think they've added enough here to keep anyone interested for more than 2 or 3 weeks - max.
I hope with seasonal worlds they make artifacts part of the cross character progression, cuz that'd be very irritating to put in so much work to get artifacts on one character just for it to all disappear when the server restarts.
It's looking like 2023-2024 with lot of promises and barely any done, making us wait for the big June announcement. Who knows, perhaps they're working on a mobile version and just wanna get player retention with promises again, the same way they did for the past year :D
I predict the NW future is releasing Single Player Game after NW reaches certain point. I think it may be even more successfull assuming they retain the cinematic team and sound team

We are getting updates on Open World - Finally!.Last time AGS introduced anything into open world was Raffle Bones (or am I wrong, please reply). Reek Water is getting overhauled with some distinctive design descisions.
I'm surprised no one realizes that that pvp server is actually just a 3 month old PTR server. If the current servers are a beta tester, that pvp server is an alpha tester.
Man, I really feel they need to do a hard focus on PvP game modes. It’s a shining point of the game, combat wise, but goddamn give me new shit. Also, Seasonal Servers and the like are just a complete no from me. I’m not sure of the appeal to devs….why spend resources making content that only a portion of the game’s population will check out? Disappointing season.

Artifact perk uinlocks are very poorly implemented. I still dont get it why we havve to kill certain monsters to unlock effects. The quests feel like another chore on the list.
As someone who just joined and love the game it’s sad to see that the game has been failing and now with this new PvP server Diablo style bs that will split player base up even more rather than combine them will ultimately backfire and kill the game plus many people like me cannot stand constant resets every season and enjoy a traditional mmo instead there is also the sad fact that many older players from when the game first launched aren’t too kind to new players either so idk it seems like a sinking ship I am contemplating bailing or not
@CellarPhantom compared to my win rate before season 6 , I know it's doing a better job. Before this, I would be lucky to get 1 win in 10. So regardless of my skill level, to be constantly grouped with 19 other crap players, means that something was going wrong with match matching. So, unless I am on the mother of all lucky streaks, I am 5-6/10 at the moment. This isn't just my opinion, but other players who previously were constantly being hammered in opr. It got to the point we had termed it. 0-499 utter &_£# 500-2999 crap loss 3000+ loss = glorious loss 3000+ win = omg we won It was always looses.

As with any form of development of this type, you need to see what works based on user data. Step 1. Try to balance the groups when possible, considering factors like wait time, how often the OPRs are popping, and how long is the queue. Healer/DPS/Tank mix. Step 2. Look at the players win/lose history, how many points are they accruing, and what type of points they are. So, if you are getting a lot of wins/loses and kills versus deaths, against people who may accrue points from building doors etc. Weighting those "points" an interesting problem in my eyes :) It's like any problem, don't try to fix all the levels of the problem in one go, since you may be sinking dev time into a solution, that is far more complicated than is needed. Sometimes simple is best.

I’m not sure how anyone could look at the seasonal resets and see any positivity. They can’t fool anyone with their ARPG branding that’s just an excuse to make up for their lack of content. Seasonal resets is going to be the nail in the coffin for this game. You’re going to have weapon levels, trade skills, and a trade post in a game that’s going to reset every season. These creators have had no clue what direction to take this game since the rip. This should’ve been addressed in the video.

how many problewms poor inventory sistem and UI can create, starting from banking, too much of unique items, gearing, finding equipment for correct Mutations... Now they unifying mutated dungeons because of one of listed problems. This Expedition unification hadnt been a thing if we had good inventory system.

The saddest thing is that the same toxic community is driving away the new players. I've been playing NW since day 1, I accepted long ago that I like shitty stuff (including this game), and I'm at peace with that. I was super excited for cross-play because I was finally going to be able to play with 3 friends on PS5. They didn't even last a month because they were always getting discriminated, treated badly and left out of some content just for playing on console.

Most of the times the Legacy servers are full of idiots and they chose the most populated fresh start server, to start all over again to farm newbies. Don't care about "fresh start servers" or "seasonal servers" ... won't play on them. Don't care about PvP ... ANYTHING. Might play the new OPR for giggles, but other than that, the entire PvP zone is only a run in and get the Coconut once a week and get out. Wasted on me. i have to say that after 1300 hours of gameplay i am quitting today. the main reason is because of the exploits, cheats, abuse of macros and inbalance in pvp. the current state is so bad that AGS has failed in all aspects to fix their game or give it the proper attention it deserves. The cheating is out of hand and to come across a fair fight just doesnt exist anymore. more and more people everyday are turning to using these mechanisms of exploitation. BAN THEM ALL!!!. sad to say but im moving on to another game.

Incoming illegal weapons on all servers when season ends because AGS cant program preventing them moving in the transfer.
