Yeah they are top aren't they just a proper fun rock band. We have had a tough old time of it in recent years with mainstream music being absolutely horrendous these days but bands like wet leg coming out and young sam fender give us a glimmer of hope that guitar music is still alive 🤣🤣
"Is your mother worried? Would you like us to assign someone to worry your mother..." is the line that sold this song to me. Heard it on Jo Whiley's show and looked them up as soon as I got home.

Thank you for that Justin, I love how you picked out the subtlety of the composition which helps explain why such a deceptively simple song keeps catching the attention. Got tickets for them for November and really looking forward to it. Hopefully catch your set again somewhere soon.
The thing I love most about this channel is that it really brings together such a vast hodgepodge of styles and the corresponding devotees in the wake of it. Never heard this tune before, but I love it. Has a "Cannonball" meets Peaches taste to it with a solid shot of Kim Gordon underneath.
I love Wet Leg because they are not trying to reinvent the wheel. Their music is incredibly simple, but they seem to have fun making it which is infectious.
I love Wet Leg. The two women had been making music for years separately without any success. They thought their time had passed. They both had problems with performance anxiety and decided to team up and just play for fun. People often get the wrong impression about them because they want their band to be fun and have a laugh. Musically they know their stuff they're not one hit wonders as some believed last year. There's a lot of deadpan humour in their videos they really are talented. Have a watch and listen to Wet Leg's "Angelica" that's my favourite song of theirs.
Curiously, not a single chaise longue is to be found in the official video. In fact, one might justifiably say the video is misleading as she repeatedly sings "all day long on the chaise longue" whilst sitting on a rocking chair.

They don't take themselves too seriously, and at seem at time to be really surprised at all the attention they've gotten. (The story goes that they just wanted to get into festivals more easily - and get some warm beer when they did - and in the early interviews that rings true to me. A band I would have never would have known about if I didn't watch a episode of Dawson's Creek of all places. I would love to hear Justin's take on this great album.
It's a catchy tune! Love the bass part, out there on its own and the sliding up gives it a very cool sound. Simple arrangement, catchy melody. Full of little hooks on every instrument. Great video to boot. The perfect package.

It's so cool when a band's sound and image come together into a delightfully cohesive package, while at the same time maintaining a vibe that this is a group of effortlessly cool and talented people who just drifted together unawares and by happenstance to unite in an artistic vision that goes beyond individual members. In such an overly manufactured world, it's really, actually, hard to believe that such serendipity even exists! And, for all I know, this band could be the project of a hit-factory in Sweden. But I've always been one to believe that it does exist and that even the most calculated movements are only imitations of when the universe decides the time is right to bring certain things together into once in a lifetime convergences. Even if it is a band called WET LEG.
90s throwback has become a thing, so you'll hear more for a few years. This kinda reminds me of grrl power music, and Red Aunts but softer instruments and even grunge with that blues riff, and the early 2000s non-emo rock revival thing. The "chaise longue" hook line reminds me off MLwtTKK's "Golden Strip", and so on. There's actually way more original pop music now, but I prefer this retro stuff more!
@@GizzyDillespee Totally agree - some other songs on the album put me in mind of the Pixies or Sonic Youth. I dunno what it is about this particular band that triggers so many people specifically.
I've just had the weirdest deja vu -- I thought you'd already covered this song. I was literally confused -- I have no idea where I would've heard this song if not here. I've lived this moment before. BIZARRE. 😳😳
😳 I had the same thing when Justin reviewed King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard! Ended up down a King Gizzard rabbit hole reminiscent of the creepy tunnel from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory… 😂
Good evening (or whatever time there is) sir Justin! I would love to ask you about how you see people's approach to The Darkness. As a hard rock/glam band you achieved a one of a kind success about 20 years after your main genre's popularity. I guess that there are two kinds of responses to that thing - there are people who consider you the exiles who "copied someone else" and people who consider you the rock heroes who singlehandedly put the more classical approach to such music in the spotlight when it seemed already dead. Personally, I see you guys as a group of talented people who took a look at the pre-prepapared direction and made it your own with signature songwriting skills, production and performance. As a highly creative music lover (non-generic, innovative, alternative and weird bands such as Mr Bungle or NIN) I can't stop listening to you and feeling the excitement about your songs, because there is a lot more to appreciate than some people seem to do. Greetings!
Have a listen to Angelica, my fave of the album, the chorus is a real doozy. The whole album is good as it happens, all killer no filler and they're a great live band to boot.
The Sparks Sisters! Ron and Russell should be proud of their latest progeny (I don't just mean this track). Chais Longue joins Lawnmower and Hippopotamous as recent weird song subjects. About time there is a return to whacky lyrics in the pop world. The main melody line is reminiscent of Lennon's 'John Sinclair' off Some Time in New York City.
I don't know that much about music, honestly, but I stumbled on Chaise Lounge a week or so ago and have been listening to them since. I really like them.
Justin, I have a question: why are the single version and album version of “I believe in a thing called love” on slightly different keys? I’ve been confused about this for years

Not my cup of thee, but it beats all the other crap on the radio, when it comes to inventiveness and originality. Keep up the good work I say.
I love the way he can just break down a song, that's talent.
Remember Hot Leg?.. you should talk about them 😘
It's an earworm song for sure! Great video!
Wtf. Creepy stuff is going on. I literally also thought, jus already covered this clip. Very weird
@@stellaotto5654 how freaking bizarre!! I'm still trying to figure this out. 🤯😳😮
@@bridgetyoung190 yeah, maybe some glitch in the matrix. We will most likely never find out.
LOL...glad i'm not the only one that has this feeling....🎸🤘🎸
These guys are so good! Found them several months ago.
Greetings!
love watching justin pick apart songs 🥰☺
I just realized you could segue the end of “Chaise Lounge” into the beginning of Aerosmith’s “Sweet Emotion.” Some band needs to do this.
The Darkness, are you listening? 😉
The same reason you made a video of you asking us why we love the song so much. 🙃😉
I saw wet leg as an opening act back in October and fell in love with their music. Issue was they only had two song out at the time 😂
Same! Was it inhaler?

@@genericnpc2851 hahah thought so, their concerts are so good!!
Love this band. Fun, catchy, clever pop songs.
Have a listen to Angelica, my fave of the album, the chorus is a real doozy. The whole album is good as it happens, all killer no filler and they're a great live band to boot.
Stolen from Bowie, so that's why it's good.
Kinda partial to " Supermarket" myself. That song speaks to me.
Love your channel, ARIA is Australian Record Industry Association. See you in Oct 😀
I don’t love this song but I love your breakdown of it!
Love the looper on the blonde's Finders league guitar mode effect.
Justin, I have a question: why are the single version and album version of “I believe in a thing called love” on slightly different keys? I’ve been confused about this for years
Their Lyrics are awesome. Reminds me of new wave music from the 80s
My wife hates it, but I absolutely love it. All their songs are tongue in cheek.
Chaise tongue.
One of the best live bands I've seen in years. Liked the album before seeing them, love it now.
Have you ever been to another concert? Guaranteed to beat a Wet Leg show
@@johnkneip1932 Go to more than most for both work and fun. They were top notch live.
Great record!! Definitely has a 90’s vibe which I love.
By 90s, do you you mean this reminds you of a band like The Breeders or something?
Been waiting on this one for like a week since I first heard of them.
Wet leg are brilliant. The record is top class and they are just amazing live
Been following Wet Leg from the start. Brilliant
