The legacy of feminist work in UK psychology

Coinciding with International Women’s day 2023, this webinar showcases the outcomes of a project on the history of POWES and Feminist Psychology in the UK.
The aim of the project was to protect the legacy of feminist work in UK Psychology and to assure wider access to this history.
The researchers conducted a series of video-recorded oral histories and collected, collated and curated archival material.
It builds on previous work looking at members’ experiences of the section, the BPS and Psychology more broadly.
The project outcomes covered three key areas: people's entry into Psychology, the history of POWES, and advice to future feminists.
The project contributes to the existing archival collection held by the History of Psychology Centre as well as an online exhibition on the Psychology’s Feminist Voices website.
