I’m an American and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Hindi movies. I fell in love with them YEARS ago. My aunt married a man from that region and his mom came to visit and I watched movies with her. My interpretation of the story: There is a girl who is a bar dancer/hooker. She might be forced into it due to circumstances and is very unhappy about it. She hates her beauty and thinks that her beautiful body is just a curse for her as no one truly love her but her body. She tries to channelise her hatred and unhappiness by drawing rain and making the girl (sitting alone) in the picture wet (similar setting to her bar where she needs to dance under water). The boy unknowingly finds it very bizarre, that why is someone making the girl suffer and tries to protect her by drawing an umbrella. After seeing the umbrella, the girl finds another way to represent her sufferings and drew bus splashing mud on the girl (It represents societal mud slinging she might be facing). Again after seeing this boy sympathises with his secret drawing partner and drew a guy who protects the girl from all splashes. Without even seeing each other their souls connect with the help of drawings and when they meet in person they instantly connect and just like the painting the girl found someone who can protect her from the ugly business.
