You’ve been missed! This is exactly why I don’t unsubscribe from seemingly dormant channels of people I enjoy. Seeing your video made me so happy! Congratulations on the birth of your baby. 💛
So lovely to see you. You have often popped into my mind and how wonderful to hear of your new family member. Always love to hear about your book choices
Thought a bit late, soooo nice to see you again Sophie!!! I was a little worried after you disappeared but really so happy for you now. I hope you enjoy the next stage in your life and be full of nice surprises - as was for me your reappearance on youtube today!
Sooooo lovely to have you back Sophie. I’ve been meaning to watch this since your return as was overjoyed to see you upload. Huge congrats on the little one! Great selection of books on the TBR.
Late to the party, but congratulations on a wonderful long break and a wonderful baby boy! This is such a lovely surprise... I never thought you'd ever return as life was taking you in new directions. I missed your videos. Your TBRs and reviews are always so insightful and the videos about other things never failed to bring me joy. I was just about to start The Wager but The Garden Against Time, Butter, All That She Carried and Blue Sisters all sound very intriguing to me as well. Curious to see what your thoughts will be of this bunch. Welcome back! ♥
Welcome back, lovely to see you again. I highly recommend Matrescence by Lucy Jones. Non fiction by a female writer about the period of time after a person has had a baby. It has nature writing, science, social commentary as well as some memoir included.
Welcome back but more importantly a huge congratulations to you and your partner on the birth of your little one. Also just wanted to say a massive thank you for just posting videos during the pandemic. For context I was stuck abroad due to travel restrictions and exams for virtually the whole of the pandemic. Asides from whatsapp video calls with family, I was barely able to have any contact with anyone due to the intensity of the course I was studying and I hardly came into contact with other students because of the necessary safety restrictions that were put in place by the school I was at. The whole reason for thanking you for just posting your videos during that time was because they really helped me unwind and destress because it was great to hear a calm, intelligent and passionate voice but above all else, it provided a lot of comforting just to hear another voice from home. Thanks again for the videos Sophie and to all of you on your bright future.
Thank you for your congratulations and for sharing your really kind thoughts about your experiences during covid and the little role these videos played for you xx
So so happy to see a new video from you! I have been popping back onto your channel every now and again for the longest time hoping to see a new video, especially as I was looking for videos about reading books from around the world and I've recently started following you on Instagram too (I don't know why only now!). Congratulations on the birth of your baby! I look forward to seeing more of your book reviews 💛
I’m so delighted to see you back on BookTube. Your videos have always been so engaging and insightful, so I’m glad you’re here again, especially amidst all your exciting life changes.
Sophie, It is always good to see and hear from you no matter how much time has passed. You look amazing and I really hope that you enjoyed every moment of your break. Congratulations on the addition to your family. It is so wonderful to see you again.
You have been missed, Sophie, but it was so so lovely to hear from you and what's on your mind 💜 Seeing a video from you really made my weakend, thank you so much.
It's great to see you back. You were one of the very first Booktubers I discovered, so you kind of started the whole Booktube -thing for me (not that I make videos myself, but I get so much out of watching Booktube). Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on your tbr when you've read some of them.
So happy to see you 🤗 and congratulations on your little one! So happy for you! I had my daughter last year and didn’t read much during pregnancy but reinvigorated my reading after she was born and got so much reading done during my maternity leave. Wishing the best to you both! It’s good to hear you talk about books again!
It's so lovely to see one of your videos pop up, i've missed your book recommendations! so happy to hear that so many positive things have happened in your life in the past two years ☺️
Lovely to see your face! Congratulations on your baby boy, you are amazing for getting through a whole pregnancy. I always love seeing your TBR, so interesting and varied. It's made me want to start making videos again.
So glad you're back making videos Sophie, you were sorely missed! So cute to hear the baby sounds in the background 😊 I just finished Butter a few days ago and we discussed at our irl book club last night - it's definitely mismarketed with the crime/murder elements, it's more of an exploration of feminism and women's bodies and place in Japanese society I'd say. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on it! Can't wait to see what you think of all these really ❤
Oh that's even better! Im looking forward to Butter even more now. He is super lovely, I noticed the camera picked up his squeaking when I was editing 😄
Congratulations on your new baby! I always enjoyed your reading vlogs so much. If you enjoy My Friends, you might also try his book A Month in Siena. It's a short nonfiction work, which might be good for busy days with the baby. 😊
It's so lovely to see you again and so wonderful to know that your life has been so positive whilst you've been gone! I really want to read How To Say Babylon as well, it sounds like a fascinating read
Welcome back!! You've been missed. Of all the book people I used to follow, your taste was always most similar to mine and I found many favorite books through you. Now I've also mostly left the Internet book space, but I remained subscribed to you. I'm so looking forward to whatever you decide to share. And congrats on the baby boy!
Welcome back! In my opinion, All That She Carried is less multigenerational saga, more of (re)imagining what the lives of the enslaved, particularly enslaved women, may have looked like based on the items that were put into the sack. Hope that helps!
Ahh lovely to see you and huge congratulations on the birth of your son. I hope that your return to UA-cam brings you joy and it serves you rather than the other way round xx
Lovely that you're back! And perfect timing for me. I'm in a reading slump and your videos always get me excited about books. I'm inspired! Hope you and yours are well and congratulations on becoming a mother!
Ah I'm so glad! I hope your reading slump either comes to a close with something great or you can take some time to check in with other things and know books will be right there for you when you need them again! ❤
She's baaaaack!! Congrats on your new arrival and so excited to watch you videos and see what you've been reading again. Also: I feel like they just didn't tell anyone about the new Maggie Nelson? I had the exact same experience in a bookshop today and was just like 'wait what?' Best surprise though!
Ahh it's so lovely to be back!! I am glad in a weird way maybe the marketing team just took five, rather than I managed to miss it entirely!! So looking forward to getting into it.
I'm delighted to see you again on Booktube!! And congratulations on little Whit! This video really resonates with me. I've been struggling with maintaining my reading and channel since my son was born (he's 14 m. now). Wanderlust sounds brilliant, and I've wanted to read I Want to Die But I Want to Eat Ttoekboekki for a while now.
So good to see you back! I've often thought of you in the last few years and wondered how you were doing - I'm so glad to hear that it's been a good time, and so many mazels on your new baby!! I got to meet a friend's three week old last week (I guess now he'd be four weeks) and it was so magical. I hope you keep posting in a way that feels good to you and have a wonderful maternity leave!!
Lovely to see you here again, Sophie! Hope you and the baby are doing well. I'm currently reading Olivia Laing's To the River and am very much looking forward to picking up Garden against Time later in the summer. The Neapolitan books are definitely summer-appropriate reading, I read the second book in the quartet last year and plan to read the third and fourth this summer. I really liked What I'd rather not think about, curious to hear your thoughts on it!
Many congratulations on your newborn baby, but on your comeback as well ^^. I never was a very consistent commentator on your channel but I loved it from the beginning, so I am happy that you have decided to comeback ^^.
Sorry have to say The wager is excellent. ( although I Am Strangely fond of non fiction set on boats I never think its Going to be my thing until I read it) and random question how are your cats Foster is stunning
Ah that's good! As I say, compelling evidence all around that it is an excellent read! They are well! Foster is 7 now, if you can believe it! She hates the baby though, so is keeping her distance.
Aww Bless her I can remember when she arrived! My sister had dogs before kids and it’s funny the male dog adapted quicker so much so that his name was the first word of both! The girl took longer and is still a bit more aloof with them to this day. My dog found the crawling toddling loud toy stage a challenge.
i want to die but i want to eat tteokbokki i wanted to love but didn't. it was so short i was able to finish it but it really just dragged and dragged and dragged 😭 i hope i didn't turn you off completely but i was v disappointed by it. looking forward to your thoughts and really appreciate that you read non-fic as well!
You’ve been missed! This is exactly why I don’t unsubscribe from seemingly dormant channels of people I enjoy. Seeing your video made me so happy! Congratulations on the birth of your baby. 💛
I do the same thing, always hoping some people make their way back! ❤❤
So lovely to see you. You have often popped into my mind and how wonderful to hear of your new family member. Always love to hear about your book choices
Aww thank you so much!

Thanks Simon!! How have you been? Xxx
I honestly didn't expect to see you back on UA-cam, but I am glad to hear that you had a good couple of years with positive changes. :) Happy reading!
I wasn't sure if I would have wound my way back either! But it does feel really nice to be back 😌

Thank you! And not late to the party at all. I've wound my way to a few of these but also found some new ones to dive into too
Welcome back and congratulations Sophie! I missed your videos.
Yay! Thank you!
Congratulations on your new addition! So sweet hearing the newborn sounds in the background. I’m so glad to see you back again!
Thank you so much! I noticed his little burbles had been caught on camera when editing, so sweet
Welcome back, lovely to see you again. I highly recommend Matrescence by Lucy Jones. Non fiction by a female writer about the period of time after a person has had a baby. It has nature writing, science, social commentary as well as some memoir included.
Yes I loved reading that one whilst pregnant!
An absolute delight to see you again!
Thank you so much ❤️
