    Took me a couple of years to use this feature. Doh. Luv it on rivers or in wind where trying to reset spot lock results in boat drifting away in the second between pressing buttons. Works great to keep your casting angle intact when fishing smaller spots like current seams.

    *Great little trolling motor **enjoyable.fishing** recommend had it hooked up to my 15 foot old town canoe and it pushed it pretty good with me and my son (220 pounds each).*

    New user question on the Ultrex.. What determines the actual (compass) direction of a jog? I understand that you can jog in any of four directions - forward, backward, left or right - but relative to (or derived from) what? There are 360 degrees of possible bearings off of any Spot Lock location and both my boat and the head unit are constantly adjusting due to gusts of wind, wakes, current fluctuations, etc. How do I know which way a jog will go at any particular time?

    • @MinnKotaMotors
      @MinnKotaMotors  5 років тому +4

      MinnRick,
      The heading sensor that comes with the motor is a compass and that is what gives you the Jog Feature. Below is how you set a Jog.
      a. To engage Spot-Lock Jog, first engage Spot-Lock. The Spot-Lock Jog icon will look like the Spot Lock icon, but will also have directional indicators.
      b. Use the Speed Down , Speed Up , Steer Left, Steer Right , buttons to move the boat 5
      feet in the desired direction from the original
      Spot-Lock.
      c. The boat will be moved backwards for Speed Down , forward for Speed Up , left for Steer Left , and right for Steer Right, when the corresponding button is pressed in relation to the direction of the boat. Once the boat has jogged to the new location, the new location will be saved into a temporary Spot-Lock Memory and the boat will relate additional jogging with the temporary
      Spot-Lock location.
      Best regards,
      Brenda

    Hello I just bought a ulterra but I am so confused about the diploy button cause the only button I see on owner manual is the autopilot. Is that the one?

    • @MinnKotaMotors
      @MinnKotaMotors  4 роки тому +1

      Ying,
      The Auto Pilot button is not the deploy button. You will see the word deploy on the bottom of the remote screen. Underneath the screen there is a button on the left and a button on the right that have a white dot on them. Those are your soft keys. To deploy the motor you will double click really fast the button with the white dot under the word deploy.
      Thanks!

    MK I have a question. Here's the scenario - the trolling motor is working overtime in a ripping tide 10 feet away from jagged jetty rocks with wind and waves to contend with and I can't figure out the point of reference of where the 5 feet direction is established. 5 feet in a direction (FRRL) each button press from what point of reference? 5 feet in a direction from the trolling motor which is rotating all over the place in a spot lock holding position? Or in respect to where the bow of the boat is at the time of button press? Or is it eh...5ish feet in a forwardish direction and 5 feet give or take a foot in a rightish direction? Bonus question - is it additive with multiple directions? Where F button x 2 = 10 feet. How about F, F, R? will that move the boat forward 10 feet and right 5 feet?

    Hey there, I have a Terrova and for some reason the other day, every time I hit spot lock I started trolling backwards without me hitting anything. I unplugged it and tried again but kept doing the same thing. Never had that problem before. Any ideas on what could be the issue?

    • @MinnKotaMotors
      @MinnKotaMotors  4 роки тому

      Phil,
      The only reason it would go backwards is if the motor was hooked up reverse polarity at the batteries or if someone had the Lower Motor Unit apart and it was put back together incorrectly.
      Thanks!

      This post has been awhile but for anyone reading now. It's not going backwards... well literally it is but it's stopping your forward momentum. That's why the head swings around and hits reverse.

    • @MinnKotaMotors

      In order to calibrate a PowerDrive Motor you would have to have the Blue Tooth Model and you would have to purchase a Heading Sensor.

      i_fish,
      We believe you have the new Blue Tooth Motor and you are on Spot Lock trying to use the Jog Feature. If this is the case and when you hit the arrow the Spot Lock shuts off that would tell us that your Heading Sensor isn't paired to your trolling motor.

      @@MinnKotaMotors So if the heading sensor is correctly paired, simply pressing a directional button will toggle from SL TMP (temporary) to spot lock jog(without disengaging spot-lock)? The instructions above just say "The Spot-Lock Jog icon will look like the Spot Lock icon, but will also have directional indicators", but doesn't really say how to switch between spot-lock and spot-lock jog.
