Barcelona is buzzing this time of year, folks! Why? Because a major hi-tech event just wrapped up there, and boy, do we have something to show you! In this episode, we're comparing Figure robot at the BMW factory with Chinese humanoid workers to see who did it best. And if you've ever felt like you want to be a cuddly dudley, then Toyota's got your back. I'm Nick, and today we're diving straight into the future! Let's get it!
Robots at Mobile World Congress 2024:
Missed out on Mobile World Congress Barcelona? You might've missed out on the next 12 months. That's what MWC 2024 prides itself on - being the largest and most influential event for connectivity ecosystems. And guess what? As always, we've got our eyes on the prize! You might ask, what do robots have to do with a connectivity event? Well, without robots and artificial intelligence, no exhibition can be considered high-tech. Agreed? There's plenty to cover from the event, so much so that we'll tell you about Samsung's smart rings in the next video. But for now, the star of MWC 2024 was the Ameca robot that recently learned to copy voices of celebrities. And earlier, it was able to speak several languages and translate what was said, thanks to built-in ChatGPT.
Also on display was Tecno dynamic 1 robot dog, a virtual assistant based on generative AI, and, in an interesting physical embodiment, hyodol robot dolls for supporting the elderly. I bet someone's going to order that in Chucky.
And then, of course, a flying car concept from Alef Aeronautics, which, according to the company spokesperson, is due to go into production in 2025. And this was probably the most unusual exhibit at the show. The Model A can drive on the ground and fly through the air, looking exactly like the futuristic vehicles of the future from 5th Element. Multipass! The electric car takes off using two propellers located instead of the hood and trunk. This design adds the functionality of a giant drone to the electric car, and according to the developers, controlling the car in the air is as easy as a regular commercial drone. The car is 16 feet or 5 meters long and 6 feet or 2 meters wide. It's only 850 pounds or 385 kg, as the body is made of carbon fiber. A full battery charge should be enough for 200 miles or 320 kilometers on the ground and 100 miles or 170 kilometers in flight. Unfortunately, the Model A's airspeed is limited to 100 miles or 170 kilometers per hour, while on the ground to only 35 miles or 60 kilometers per hour. This restriction had to be imposed so that the car can be legally classified as an ultra-light "low-speed vehicle". The company is already taking pre-orders for the two-seater, which costs $300,000

Just discovered this channel. Great video. Yea, it’s a shame Apple aren’t proceeding with the iCar. Makes you wonder what they have pivoted to though. Probably creating a humanoid robot. iRobot… 😂 they have probably realised there is SO much money in the AI field and if they don’t start researching they’re gonna get left behind.

I feel like Steve Jobs would’ve figured out a full self driving car by now with absolutely no steering in it. I just feel like Tim Cook is a textbook CEO at this point he is not a billionaire innovator. He doesn’t have a billionaire mindset. He has an employee mindset because billionaires are innovators. with him controlling all that money at Apple, I feel like he owes it to humanity to improve the technology in these cars. He has the technology and the men power to be able to do all this, and I feel like it will still be a profitable project if he decides to take it on Tim Cook employ me to be the project manager for the first Apple car

$300,000? Holy Cow! Everything else in this vid looks like an experimental lab model far from genuine mass manufactured scale of deployment. Still, very intriguing innovations that promise to make human equivalence of capability just one short stage in becoming super human co-habitators.

Would someone find out what happened to the Chinese flying robotaxi company EHang?
Their autonomous robo flying taxis have been operating commercially in China for years (although I believe not in populated cities).
There are test flight videos of those EHang drones on UA-cam.

i think a few but cost saving measures i think until you get like I robot 🤖 with Will Smith get them more stable in their movements no lagging more fluid. So if your gonna help humans in tasks it needs to be self learning with limitations like gardening analyze let say the Ph in soil to grow healthier longer lasting flowers to yards with grass. Engine in a car/boat. It’s speaks like you need 7/16 wrench 🔧 Me being learning disabled in certain areas it would help with memory help measure 📐 a piece of wood. I think if you copied that robot and fluid ness get it to be as it did from the movie. So jobs/ things you couldn’t do you can now it handles those jobs. Drive some where. If you wanted to go somewhere do something it helps you be more independent.

    Can we be honest here?
    Humanoid-looking robots will be outlawed
    It's so predictable.
Imagine a robot approaches you grabs your arm, and demands your wallet
what would you do - of course, hand over your wallet
The robot walks on to the guy behind you and robs them, too.
    What do you do?
All the robots in that series look the same - which one robbed you?
That's the problem - all robots of a series look the same
and organized crime will be one of the largest buyers of robots.
Robots will work in labs to make drugs
robots will drive the drugs to cities
robots will sell the drugs on the corner
and what will the police do?
    who do they arrest?
Robots are heaven-sent to cartels and organized crime.
Laws will be passed to make humanoid-looking robots illegal
    this is so predictable....

AI and its Impact on Society
    Oct 31, 2023
We must ask ourselves, "What will happen when AI has taken 85% of jobs present today? What will we do? How will we eat and survive without incomes from jobs or other means?" What is disturbing is that while AI is taking these jobs, the gov't and the corporations have not done ANYTHING to prepare us for an AI'ed civilization. They have not said anything about major retraining of an entire economy to something else, and they have not followed up on a discussion of universal basic income.
It appears that the US gov't and the corporations intend to kill off the majority of Americans passively, through starvation from lack of income to buy food. (check and see if farming production is declining or will start to decline ahead of the "starvation phase") (also check to see if the "makeup" of robot equipment allocation would change to reflect a trend away from retail and services for the masses, possibly indicating an extinction of the American public - this means taking a robot from Chipotle and repurposing it for some other job not related to the public, or scrapping affected robots to be remade for some other purpose that has nothing to do with the public)
This way, there are only enough people alive to get some things done, and the rest is done by AI, and the survivors who planned this can claim the whole country for themselves. Imagine having an estate mansion half the size of a mall on several dozen thousand acres of land, and robots would be used to maintain and clean the estates and do the farming FOR THE ESTATE OWNERS. The White Man's wet dream of civilization. What will the Native Americans south of the US border do when they see this coming?
