I play with locked camera im d2 and just have my unlock camera button on my mouse and on the 4 i have my teammates so evry like 5 secs i unlock it and take a quick look at my team its a good option if you have a small desk and have swing your hand to move the camera
i'm gonna come clean. the minimap is my biggest weakness! i'm a decent player but holy crap is my awareness awful. i even remember to ward bushes and such and i then i don't look.

well i play with locked camera since 2011 but only because leagues free camera is trash... dota 2 did it so much cleaner.
