The most beautiful dragline designed by man. Absolutely love the Lima 2400. We will again build things like this Lima dragline. Build tough and built to last. Made in USA !!!!! You'll see very soon.
Thanks for taking the time for getting things like this on film Justin. Good to see a machine of this vintage still on the job. Wish video was longer 👍
Whoops. I sure miss these machines. Enjoyed 15 years operating these units. I could point out every grease fitting on one, blindfolded, not exaggerating!
@@robertestep7017 The local boulder hole had one with a 318 pony motor with a drop ball. The green one had a Cummins, one had a UD and the other had a 4-71.
If that's a 1979, that's one of the last ones built by Clark in Lima, Ohio. Factory was shut down in 1980. I believe the first 2400 was built in 1948. A good run. If I remember right, around 600 were built of the 2400 and 2400B models.
@@ericelsberry5585 I remember old operators telling me stories, and I thought they were bullshitting me. After a lifetime of doing this stuff, I know most of them weren't.

Your welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
You can watch it on pa.mining video of a Clark-Lima 2400 and Manitowoc 4600 working together. That is the same 2400.
@@robertestep7017 Thank you sir !
@@mikekopie9897 You're welcome. Glad to help.
One of the best cold starts I have ever seen or heard! Thanks!
In 1971 I used to hang steel from a 50 ton Lima crane on tires. That old machine had manual outriggers, it was a beast.
SWEET a cold start of old iron. Listen to that old kitty come to life.
*Wow, what a squad!! Super! You can always watch the engine start on old mining cars! Thanks!*

wow. That's awesome. I cant get enough of these big old mining beasts. Thanks
Cool . Nice video . It brings back memories , I used to run a 2400B . We dug out of a lake most of the time .
Justin, I see Whalley Group lettering painted on the side. This was dragline #5. I used to run it. Can't believe it's still around 40 years later.
"Can't believe it's still around 40 years later": No electronics inside.
@@Ford8210gen1 You're right. I have pictures of it from back then.
@@robertestep7017 Love to see them, I think in my last life I was a Dragline-driver (lol)
@@Ford8210gen1 You might have been! Watching that video is like going back in time for me.
Really!? That's awesome! I take it they had 5 2400s? We don't get rid of much here in PA haha!
Unusual design on the slew ball race !
Back when a "software update" was a can of ether. :D
Way to go! The Lima I herded had a 4-71 and wasn't nearly as interesting as that 2400 but it paid the light bill. Thanks, Pal!
Any dragline is interesting to run.!
@@robertestep7017 Always were for me. I started out on an O.D. Green 22-B with a clam bucket.
@@lewiemcneely9143 I ran one of them myself. It had a 318 Cat for power. Cleaned ponds with it at a coal cleaning plant.

@@lewiemcneely9143 That's cool! Mine had a pony motor too. Electric or rope start.
Sweet Kitty start up, but man alive she doesn’t sound happy!!!
that was mint. the engine hunting near the end of the vidya sounded like the rhythm of a marching band. haha.
Nothing like a big bore Clatterpillar starting up cold.

Great start up
beautiful video
I used to run a 2400, that’s a Cat 379. Looks like that one has a manual clutch.
I live this shit. I own all newer equipment, it’s just not the same. Kind of uninteresting. Miss running the old stuff
It would appear that good ol boy has had to cold start that rig once or twice in his life. No muss no fuss just getting after it.
I think it could use some new gaskets around the turbos! LOL
What year was this dragline produced?
1978. I ran it when it was new.
I would love to se an interview!

@@robertestep7017 thats awesome. Kinda funny that this is small by dragline standarts but still as big as the biggest excavator in the cat 300 series
I don't blame you for getting out of there lol
Yeah that's why I left lol.
Do a video of this old girl digging
Run forest Run 🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️
Very entertaining
Didn't used C12!?!?
