This might be my favorite woodworking video yet! Simple project, but you put some serious thought into the design, and your editing is the best out there! The coffee salute to yourself in the beginning is priceless!!!
I know it doesn't have anything to do with woodworking but your split screen is absolutely perfect. I look for the overlap and I cannot see it. After Effects? Premiere? You do this so well. Next you will have your left self handing something to your right self. Magnificent. Enjoyable.
My wife and I were watching this video on our television. I bought your miter saw station plans and have been thinking of changing my shop's layout. I wanted to get a better look at your setup. When you slid together your Matthias Wandel pantorouter mortis and tenon, my wife said, "you need one of those!" My jaw dropped. I'm making watching your videos with my wife a Saturday morning ritual. Thanks, buddy.
Thanks Jay.I love your new video. The narration is spot on. So many site's with way too much jabber. And as for your clone, what I wouldn't give for a helper .He doesn't talk back or argue. Just sweeps and puts tools away. Absolutely priceless. He's a keeper. Your work is beutiful. Keep up the inspirations.
I know this is stating the obvious, but, man, you’ve come a long way since your videos from the apartment place shop you had a while back. You’ve always just had a wonderful knack for doing this and it has been fun (and educational) watching your woodworking skills develop. So impressive! Congratulations on your success. Well deserved.
Jay, I just finished a month long journey through your entire video library, chronologically, minus the majority of the sketch up tutorials (although I'll return to those when I time to dedicate to learning that tool). It was great seeing your progression from apartment, part-time carpenter to full shop pro. Well done! As many have said, you're a great teacher and video editor which makes for insightful and engaging content. Keep it up!
Not only are you creative with your work and workshop, very very creative with you vids. Very impressed, keep up with your mad skills Sir! Go Detroit!!
Coffee Table...funny my daughter just asked to have one made. What the heck. Doesn't she know I have a list of stuff I need to get done? The kids always win. Love the videos Jay, you have come so far from the apartment shop.
Jay is the best.......my son loves him...and he ask me what is jay brother called in the vid...when they are both drinking tea or coffee....😂😂...keep making these vids jay....great work....
I built my bench without a tool till ... after watching your video, I am inspired to get out to the shop and correct that oversight! Nice work ... that Hickory looks pretty sweet.
That bench is awesome looking. I've already talked with my wood supplier here in north Alabama about cutting me some hickory lumber just so I can build a table similar to that one. I can't wait! Lol Nice job.
I don't know anything about filming or editing but I love your "dual" or twin stuff - -- - See don't even know what it's called. YEAHHH!! By the way, very nice work.
I really dig your editing. Seeing you twice is almost three times the fun. I would suggest to have an hole in one corner to brush down the dust and woodchips that accumulate over time.
I often saw this on planerbenches here in Germany. Looks very good and useful. I think i will adopt this for my workbench. Thank you for sharing. Cheerio
From the start of the video I knew there was going to be a "hello" in there somewhere. This is a nice addition to your workbench. The entire thing looks so beautiful!!
Looks great! When you were chopping out the corners for the bottom, my thought was to cut the bottom corner off at a 45 and leave a hole for sawdust to fall thru. I'm lazy and just sweep to the corners and let sawdust fall to the floor. That hickory bench is the best one I've seen.
Two guys make quick work. Chatty guys too. Man, working all that hickory, every other wood is going to seem soft for the rest of your life. Great build as always.
What an awesome workbench! Absolutely perfect. In my humble opinion, the screws for the tool well sould be covered (the table has all the fancy joinery, and then the well, well...).
I’ve watched this video so many times 😂😂 trying to gain inspiration for a tool well in my outfeed table. I’m currently building that monstrosity of a work bench.
Nice work, and I agree with the premise that a tool well is indispensable. The recent trend has been against their inclusion in a bench design because it only collects saw dust and junk. I don't bring junk to the bench (that's what the rest of the shop is for) and if you can't deal with shavings and saw dust, collect baseball cards as a hobby. Nothing is as heart breaking as the sound of a premium square or chisel falling off the back of the bench and onto the cement floor. Great idea and, as usual, nice video.
Loved the video. I was thinking it might be good to make it easily removable with something like sliding dovetails in the side of the bench. Also I think a lot of the tool wells have 45 degree ends for easy cleaning I guess. I have some very thick ~2" Hickory from a tree of my sisters. It should be dry now and I get to plane it down, probably with a router. I chainsaw milled this hickory and it's so damn tough and heavy, this is exactly the project I could build with it. Thanks for doing this one. I can only dream some day to have the time and to do it.
Awesome build Jay, definitely on my To Do list. Pine is fine but that Hickory really puts it over the top! Also, really cool backsaws you have there, can you share with us the manufacture?
When you look back at your oldest videos, what stands out to you as being most amazing or different than where you are today? This bench is an amazing centerpiece for any shop, not only will it enable the skills of an artist at work, but it is a display of those skills in and of itself. I imagine your "X-years ago self" would be in total awe of this thing that you've made, but I'm curious to know what your experience has been like since you've been documenting your progress along the way.
From your old videos to this one, you really can see the difference and improvements you have made over time, love this channel brother :) what camera do you use now?
Great video! What I felt was super creepy was I clicked subscribe and a second later was the part when he said "hello" in the video..........what perfect timing on my part 😂😂
I don't need the tool well, but I did build a new Roubo bench. I'm a South Paw so followed your idea of set up on each leg for a vice, as I am likely to give it away. (no room for two benches). Just did it for something to do ;D

Premiere.

hahahahahahahahahahaha. What other tools would you like me to show on video?
Thanks Jay.I love your new video. The narration is spot on. So many site's with way too much jabber. And as for your clone, what I wouldn't give for a helper .He doesn't talk back or argue. Thank you very much, Martyn. I appreciate it.

On to the vlog and non project videos!
Thanks!
Very nice and functional. Using painter's tape on the glue up was the first time I have ever seen that done in a woodworking video. Very smart.
Not only are you creative with your work and workshop, very very creative with you vids. Very impressed, keep up with your mad skills Sir! Go Detroit!!
Thank ya :)
Your new work bench is beautiful. The grain on that Hickory is unbelievable. Thanks for sharing
Jim
Love to have a little helper who cleans up the workshop after me!
The videos where you get experimental and has some fun with the editing are some of you very best.
Coffee Table...funny my daughter just asked to have one made. What the heck. Doesn't she know I have a list of stuff I need to get done? The kids always win. Love the videos Jay, you have come so far from the apartment shop.
You are a MASTER of your craft. Brilliant!
Jay is the best.......my son loves him...and he ask me what is jay brother called in the vid...when they are both drinking tea or coffee....😂😂...keep making these vids jay....great work....
Awesome. Glad to read that. Tell him I said hi :)
...and it's always coffee. I don't like tea ;)
Nice build. The wood grain is spectacular! Love how the oil enhanced the grain even more.
Great video! And thank you for not adding background music; I like the sound of tools in use in sped up videos.
I built my bench without a tool till ... after watching your video, I am inspired to get out to the shop and correct that oversight! Nice work ... that Hickory looks pretty sweet.
Jay, no wonder you have to move so fast. Your helper is kicking butt!
Jay your the first woodworker I found and followed in UA-cam. You are the best and my favorite 👍!
:)
I don't come to woodworking videos expecting a good laugh but Jay has some subtle but hilarious ways of adding humor.
:)
Excellent idea Jay. Thanks for Sharing, will follow this on my own 42 year old workbench immediately.
That bench is awesome looking. I've already talked with my wood supplier here in north Alabama about cutting me some hickory lumber just so I can build a table similar to that one. I can't wait! Lol Nice job.

This is why you are the master. I'm not regularly a fan of "silent" videos, but this was magical! Why? You know why. I almost fell over laughing!
I really dig your editing. Seeing you twice is almost three times the fun.
I would suggest to have an hole in one corner to brush down the dust and woodchips that accumulate over time.
I vacuum the shop regularly. I'll just vacuum the tray as needed.
I really like the add on and tool holder nicely done Jay
Now I know how you get so many projects completed quickly. You have a twin !!! 😎😎
That interaction with yourself is great! I chuckled at the number of takes it would have taken me.
I often saw this on planerbenches here in Germany. Looks very good and useful. I think i will adopt this for my workbench. Thank you for sharing.
Cheerio

My wife and son both agree that the best thing I ever did was subscribe to your channel.
Nice design and your helper is fantastic. Wish I had one
Always good to have an apprentice working with you 😉! Seriously great craftsmanship and very entertaining! Cheers.
Excellent video, thank you Jay ! Pantorouter is way cool. The dust collection at 3:21 is impressive !
I love all of the Easter eggs! How could you make such a simple little addition like this look so nice? Great job!
I just covered my tool well. Before it was nothing but a big trash bin; now I love it.
Two guys make quick work. Chatty guys too. Man, working all that hickory, every other wood is going to seem soft for the rest of your life. Great build as always.
That Workbench becomes more beautiful every time I watch!..God Bless and More power to you..
Hands down my favorite woodworker on UA-cam. Great stuff brother!
Thanks dude!
Sams. Favourite wood workers, plural
This is a good looking work bench, love the grain on the wood...nice work man
Thanks for sharing! One day I’ll build a hand tool workbench when space allows it. You’re videos are awesome to watch. Thanks!
Nice seeing your apprentice back in the shop with you.
You've outdone yourself. And as always, fantastic editing. Top notch!
What an awesome workbench! Absolutely perfect.
In my humble opinion, the screws for the tool well sould be covered (the table has all the fancy joinery, and then the well, well...).
I left them exposed just for you :)
I love these silent videos! And the double Jays as well!
The editing on your videos is always outstanding, but this one is above and beyond. And the "Yeyah!" made my week. :D
Thanks for sharing, Jay. Always a pleasure watching your videos.
The editing in this video is some of your best....yeeeeaaayaaahh
I have never seen a router like that, that has to be the most amazing power tool ever.
This video needed something more... more Jay!
Love the video's Jay, always fun and informative, great editing, Now the challenge - a video with both of you actually interacting on a project
I've handed myself stuff a few times. Can't recall what videos it was in though.
REALLY like the design of that tray.
Definately the best woodworking videos on you tube by a mile, informative, superb editing, great humour, boys got skills, keep em coming Jay.😀👏
Great project....I was half expectin the Sweeper Jay ta throw in the broom at one point.....LOL
Me encantan tus videos eres muy bueno con la madera espectacular
Sometimes it’s interesting to revisit your old stuff.
It must be nice having a helper in the workshop especially during the glue up.
Like the tool trough! I have a much smaller bench, and considering a melamine bottom.
Very nice job Jay, I might have added a rabbet along the top to fill it in when you need a wider surface.
I’ve watched this video so many times 😂😂 trying to gain inspiration for a tool well in my outfeed table. I’m currently building that monstrosity of a work bench.

That router bit might be the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen
Very nice, I like the dead space for the handsaws.
The magnificent master accumulator of sawdust and shavings!
Very well done, Need to make one of these soon.
Nice add-on and great video editing. Go Detroit!
Great job! Beautiful workbench!
The two Jays are great.
Dude that router setup. What is that? That is awesome.
Awesome build Jay, definitely on my To Do list. Pine is fine but that Hickory really puts it over the top! Also, really cool backsaws you have there, can you share with us the manufacture?
Handsome addition to your bench.
Always love Jay 1 and Jay 2

아주 좋아요.저는 음식만드는 유튜버지만 주방을 나무로 만들고 싶네요.

Nice addition to the work bench, Jay, and showing off the panto router, too !! Wooo Hooo !!!
Nice addition to the bench my friend....might do this for my own bench....thumbs up from me....thanks for sharing...cheers be safe be kind
00:55- had to double take that cut. Well done.
What a great passive dust collector you made.
Always nice to have a helper
You have entirely TOO much fun editing your videos :)
Saved to my favourites, perfect solution for my workbench.
I really like the idea of the spacers so you can fit some saws back there.
awesome table and also really good work on the video editing!

Jay's workbench very nice.... Thanks!!!
Having your twin in the shop must make things go so much faster ;)
From your old videos to this one, you really can see the difference and improvements you have made over time, love this channel brother :) what camera do you use now?
And now I want a panto router. Thanks. Great build
It's really nice that your brother shows up to clean the shop... it he the one throwing the fun sounds into the edit? ;-)
I like the dust extraction on the router table. Does it work as well as it looks to?
Yup. Nearly flawless with the fence installed.
Great video!
What I felt was super creepy was I clicked subscribe and a second later was the part when he said "hello" in the video..........what perfect timing on my part 😂😂
Hahah
You and your identical twin brother, Liam, do great things together. Sorry to hear about Liam's cat, i hope it gets better. : )
I don't need the tool well, but I did build a new Roubo bench. I'm a South Paw so followed your idea of set up on each leg for a vice, as I am likely to give it away. (no room for two benches). Just did it for something to do ;D
Great bench! I was wonder what brand of block plane you are using?
Very timely, I just put that on my 'to-do' list today. Thanks!
So when do we expect to see your first article in Fine Woodworking? Your skills are getting to epic levels
This thing looks sooooo amazing! Great job!
