I’m 74. I could not get this done. My mama used to get up on Sunday morning before church and cook a big dinner for our family. I didn’t appreciate how hard that must’ve been for her. She loved to cook for her family. It’s what gave her pleasure. I think you are like that too. It is the “gift of hospitality “. Love you Meme💕
I’m even younger than you , and with back issues. This lady is amazing and such a blessing. I remember my mamaw cooking these huge meals for us when we would let her know we were coming for a visit. I was a kid, but thinking back, she had to be in her late 70s and 80s. She cooked so much love into her meals for us. I didn’t appreciate it fully back then. Looking back and now knowing what all was involved, and how much standing in her small kitchen was involved, God knows He gave me such a blessing in her. And now in Meme ❤. Cooking with love continues to amaze me and now that I am almost 70, I can appreciate it so much more. Love your videos Meme. God bless you ❤
My granny made those but with mashed taters. She could make those, always had red beans, fresh homemade yeast rolls, and if it were spring or summer, tomatoes and onions from the garden. I look back at it and we were not poor, but we got by. I never knew that and I never knew that just a plain country meal would hold so much and so many memories in the decades to come. You can have my cell phone, all the computers and ESPECIALLY all the social media. Just let me be 13 again sitting at granny's table, with the people I knew truly loved me.
My mama used to make this. She used her cast iron skillet, but instead of putting the patties into a casserole and baking them, she would put them back into the skillet in the gravy, put a lid on the skillet, and turn the fire waaay down and let them simmer in the gravy. She always served it on sliced bread. It was one of my favorite meals!
God bless wonderful amazing beautiful grandmas like you. You remind me of a perfect mix between my grandma from my mom's side and my grandma from my dad side they both would cook and make the most amazing meals especially for the church group or whenever us grandkids and come over they would make sure that we were eating everything we can possibly handle. Ladies like you make this world such a better place. God bless you your family and everything you do in life and I really thank you for this recipe I will absolutely be making this within the next week
I have missed you ever so much. You were added to my prayer list and I am thankful for your return and your latest blessing to the family. I love cooking with friends and I consider you a friend. God loves you and so do I. 🙋♀️🤣🙏❤️🙏🙏🇺🇸
That entire meal looked so wonderful... I've cooked Hamburgers and Gravy many times for my family in 50 yrs! You learn to cook for a large family here in the South! Thank you Meme... God Bless this group of Girls for staying rooted and grounded in the Word of God! Bless the hands that prepared this meal, in Jesus name, Amen. 🙏🙏❤❤
Miss Diane, I received your cookbook for a Christmas present. This recipe, Hamburgers and Gravy, was the first I prepared for my family and it was a hit! Probably gonna have to make this once a week! Very tasty and so EZ! Love your videos and we Love You too! Mike and Family
I love the recipes you make. I can hardly wait to share them with my Women's Group at my church! May God bless you and keep you, may His face shine upon you each and every minute of every day. ❤
We have something called “Better than Bouillon” I don’t think we have Beef Base here in the Northwest (I live near Tacoma,Wa) Do you have “kitchen bouquet”. That also gives gravy the dark brown color.. That looks Delicious! What a spread.. Lucky Ladies!
You are the sweetest, Godly lady. I so enjoy you, your words of wisdom and your wonderful recipes. I have made this particular one several times now and my family loves it. Thank you for sharing!
My mother too, planted Sunday dinner and we ate in the dining room. What a treat. We were also taught proper table manners. We ate in the kitchen during the week. But Sunday after church was a special day.
Wow, I just want to say, you have enhanced my cooking so much! My husband is loving every one of your recipes, he even ordered your cookbook for me so I can make many more of them!! Can you believe he doesn't care for cube steak at all, but when I made your country steak and gravy, he gobbled it up so fast, and I have made that one 3 more times, he LOVES it!!!
I don't know you at all. I don't know how your channel showed up in my recommendations except that the Holy Spirit sent it my way like He tend to do. I sense that you have been through a lot of things that was hard and painful to you and for you. But you allowed the Lord to keep you sweet, kind, humble, forgiving, joyful, and pleasant. You are a joy and a blessing. You seem to have a sweet, gentle, kind, and beautiful spirit. I praise and thank God for that and for you. You are like my grandmother in the spirit. God bless. I pray that the Lord chooses to continue to love, carry, cover, protect, and keep you in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ of NAZARETH. I pray your strength in the LORD IN JESUS' NAME. AMEN. ❤❤❤
If you add sliced mushrooms along with the diced onion and saute the two of them before finishing with the rest of the recipe, you've made Salisbury Steak! Then you have a much fancier-sounding meal!
This is the thing from my childhood I had to teach myself how to cook when my mother passed away well before her time and before she had time to teach me. I make this about once a month now with either hamburger or cube steak. Nothing goes better than hamburgers and gravy with rice.
My Mom made that alot when growing up on the farm. She would put sweet onions in the gravy. She would use 3 pounds of burger there was 4 brothers and myself. My brothers ate like they were starving lol. It always was delicious.
I just love watching you and learning so much! I miss my mom, watching you is very comforting...it's like getting a nice big hug! Much love to you xox.❤
I'm looking forward to having your 2nd cookbook. Thank you so much for your cooking ministry. Learning and trying new recipes, great recipes like yours, gives me so much joy.
I learned something watching a lady on another channel and I do it every time I fry now. I noticed that your grease splattered up a little and you and I have both gotten burned at one time or another. This lady showed how she flipped the meat up onto the one next to it and then guided it gently down flat in the skillet. I haven’t splattered grease again. I haven’t been a subscriber for very long but I have watched most of your videos now and I really am enjoying them.
MeMe yawl , got Paula Dean beat all over the place, I have been watching for a few weeks and your recipes are great! easy to follow and you are a kick in the pants , love your Jesus saying at the end also .. God Bless You :)
God Bless You, MeMe. Your recipies are the best I've seen on the interent...I am a fussy eater so I won't try everything...but what I have seen, I've liked a lot! Have a great day!
To this day (I'm 70) when I make pot roast, you know with the carrots, onions and potatoes...the smell takes me right to Sunday's after church... My Dad was a Lutheran Minister (a very loved one in his 500 member church in a small Ohio town) and we always had 2 services and Sunday School in between (they don't do that anymore sadly)...and because Mom put the roast on early before we left for church that is exactly what we would smell when walked into the house after church and we would sit down as a family (it was my sister and I) and because Mom taught school and Dad was at church meetings, visiting members etc. all week (ya, no preachers don't just work on Sundays! At least in those days!) - we could count on all having our Sunday meal together.... For some reason you remind me of those days and what my faith means to me - thank you! Thank you for spreading that faith in these wonderful videos (that leaving me hungry and wanting to cook!! lol) God Bless You!
So glad I came across this video. My husband can't have any milk products, which has really impacted my gravy meals. I am 73 yrs old and never knew gravy could be made with water. Love Love your channel.. Thank You for your time and sharing with us. Where can I find your cookbooks?
Hi MeMe!!! I just wanted to ask you if cookbook number 2 is out and what is the Title of it so i can order it?👩🍳 I absolutely Love you’re recipes. They are GOOD AND HEARTY STICK TO YOUR RIBS recipes and SOOO DELICIOUS 😋👩🍳👌🏻❤️ Thankyou SOOO MUCH for sharing all of these Wonderful recipes 👩🍳😋🦩
Ty so much for the recipe I tried to find one for meatball inn brown gravy nut this is so much better. and I can't make a good tender meatball any so was happy to see this will neaking God Bless you and yours❤
After the rave reviews of your pork chops with rice casserole by the family. I decided that this would also be another get me out of the kitchen sooner dishes. You scored another massive hit!!! Just barely enough leftovers for my lunch today. Thanks again!!
I made your steak and gravy but I put 4 cloves of garlic and a small can of mushrooms because I love mushrooms and garlic 🧄 and my wife of 36 years just loved it thank you for sharing your recipe 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This is a very close running recipe to my husband's favorite, Meatball Stew. We start out with a roux and then once it's chocolate brown, add in the Holy Trinity. Meanwhile, we cook the meatballs in the oven then add them to our roux gravy and simmer for 2 hours and then add potatoes to the roux gravy and cook until done. We cut the fire and then add boiled eggs and let sit for 15 to 20 minutes to soak up that good cajun gravy. We serve that just as you did for the Youth Ladies Fellowship; rice, limas and the whole kit and kaboodle. Very good yummy stuff. Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipes. I'm putting together a little compilation of simple but yummy recipes for my nephew and I to cook while he's visiting next week. He is anxious to learn some stuff and I just know MeMe's dishes are gonna be a big hit! BTW : I think I'm gonna take that tidbit of advice and cook my meatball stew in the oven next time, rather than the stove top. Thank you again and congratulations on your newest addition to your family ❤
I have a question and please forgive me if I missed this, why do you use self-rising flor to coat your meat? I enjoy each and every video! Thank you!! And I ordered both your cookbooks!!❤
I’m from Monroe NC and there is a restaurant I’ve been going to since I can remember. It’s called Juds. I have been trying to recreate their hamburger steak recipe. I think I’ve found it with MeMes recipe. Thanks MeMe!!!!😊
This recipe is almost exactly like a dish I use to make for my family. I just added season salt and garlic along with the salt and pepper. But the garlic and season salt went into the gravy. 😊 my boys and husband always went back for seconds. I would serve it with mashed potatoes a veggie and crescent rolls or biscuits.
All is well. We had some naughty people stealing my videos... we had to play catch up with our UA-cam audience and post old videos!! The second cookbook has been delayed for several unavoidable factors but we are hoping to release it in the fall!! (7/31/23)
Love all your meals dieing to try your corn bread dressing and your gravy with the choped eggs .I don't know what is the difference between stuffing and dressing is ❤❤❤
This looks delicious and simple. I think I will try it on Monday, when I’m always busy and don’t want dinner to be too complicated. I do have a question. Is it necessary to use self-rising flour for this? I never buy it since having a popover incident when my husband bought me self-rising and I didn’t notice. Took me three failed batches of popovers to figure it out, sort of like your pound cake troubles!
I am 72 yrs old and I have that same chicken that you have on your stove, It was a wedding present to my folks. We have a picture of me at approx 1 yr old playing with the chicken and cardboard pennies. My Momma would always say"pennies, dirty, dirty, dirty" and because it was dirty and I was a prissy little girl, I wouldn't put them in my mouth. I had hours of fun putting those pennies in the chicken and shaking them back out.
Epitome of comfort food right there! I love meatloaf so I can’t believe I’ve never made this before! I will and I know it will be so delicious. Thanks, Meme❤
You cook like my mom!❤ You remember my mom sooo much! I miss her ! Now i cook like my mom , she was a great cook and it was her profession in life. Mom didn't have the beef past like yours but she had something call " BISTO " its beef powder and it came in a little brown box . Its also a thickener, a beef thickener. Put 1 or 2 tsp in a little water, mix to dissolve and pour in your gravy and it will give a really good natural beef flavor. And or she put a little of beef bovril in the flour/grease pan.....😊
I’m 74. I could not get this done. My mama used to get up on Sunday morning before church and cook a big dinner for our family. I didn’t appreciate how hard that must’ve been for her. My momma makes this with crumbled hamburger and served over mashed potatoes and we have always LOVED IT!
In Hawaii we eat this over rice and in the morning we put a fried egg on top!
Ooo, we would have it that way as well😀 when we had company it was patties, when just us, crumbled😀 all ways were delicious, filling and comforting❤️💕

Your onions always look perfectly diced. Do you diced them by hand or have a tool that does it?
I chop them by hand with a knife… but sometimes I buy them pre-chopped! 🙌🏼

Sounds great!!😋🙂
This looks delicious and simple.
Yes
I’ve never had anything like this and it looks scrumptious. Gonna try it soon!
my dad used to do this with cubsteaks (super cheap)
I am 72 yrs old and I have that same chicken that you have on your stove, It was a wedding present to my folks. We have a picture of me at approx 1 yr old playing with the chicken and cardboard pennies. My Momma would always say"pennies, dirty, dirty, dirty" and because it was dirty and I was a prissy little girl, I wouldn't put them in my mouth. I had hours of fun putting those pennies in the chicken and shaking them back out.
Is cookbook #2 available? I just got my copy of #1 and I love it!!!
hopefully early this fall... : )
Gravy is a learning curve.
What a lovely lady❤
Epitome of comfort food right there! I love meatloaf so I can’t believe I’ve never made this before! I will and I know it will be so delicious. Thanks, Meme❤
It’s so good.😋🙂❤️
You cook like my mom!❤ You remember my mom sooo much!
Yum. Shine for Jesus. Amen.
New subscriber here and how can I go about getting your cookbook
