Sri Vyasanakere Acharyarige aneka Namaskaragalu. This is one of the difficult topic, which Acharyarau explained Jeeva’s presence to its mukhti (liberation) in most lucid way along with day to day example. Some of examples (e.g Q-17) are unassuming. I would thank Sri Vinae Bijea, who conducted Q&A session, classified topics and catalogued with time. Which is very useful for revisions. We need such topics more and more.
Can the Jiva think or do Manasika karma in its asrujya state? Yes. What separates a jeeva from a non-jeeva (or jada) is gnana-iccha-kriya. Or the ability to know, the ability to desire and the ability to act. However these abilities are not independent of God, even though He never created the jeeva. The jeevas have eternally (as long as He's been existing, which is forever) existed because He makes sure that the qualities of the jeeva are preserved (the abilities of gnana-iccha-kriya). How does Lord decide Jivas first form or birth? Since jeeva is eternal, his gnana-iccha-kriya is eternal too. Based on it, it's decided. And since the jeeva is eternal, there's no question of first karma... the concept of first / second etc wouldn't actually exist.
@VedicDiscourses Thank you, Acharyare. When I mean first, second, etc.. I am referring to the very first panchabhoutika form ( ant, human, tree, etc.) that Jiva is given after taking it out of asrujya avaste Does that also depend on the Jivas Manasika karma or craving that you mentioned in a previous question. Pranamagalu
@@savijith1 Correct. Since jeeva is jnana-iccha-kriya, every moment these 3 are active - irrespective of what outer shareera it possesses (or not possesses). One who is the adhara of these three, knows what shareera the jeeva deserves.
Excellent discourse. Sorry i have one important question.. pardon if incorrect usage of any words... If God has not created the Jiva, then why He interferes in the Jivas life cycle by giving it some form and subjecting to sukha dukha till Moksha? Why cannot He allow to just be in asrujya avastha for ever? Crude eg: if I have not created any thing, why play with it in the first place? Thanks
If God never created the jeeva, why does He interfere? That's because the jeevas are incapable without God. The jeevas are eternally dependent on God to exercise their free will. The jeeva is like a carpenter without tools, a driver without a vehicle or a programmer without a computer. The jeevas have the innate ability to do (kartrutva) but it's not independent. Only God is fully independent. The jeevas are eternally dependent on God to exercise their free will. Why not allow the jeeva to be without a paanchabhoutika body? Without this body, without His creation, the jeeva cannot exercise his kartrutva which he so desperately craves. The only way to fully manifest himself is to come into existence and exercise his will which then determines where he is headed (tamas, moksha or in-between). And, God does not interfere in any of our karma in a way that makes Him an accomplice - just like a judge awarding money or jail-term looking at past deeds (karma & svabhava). So, it's safe to assume that He never brought us into paanchabhoutika existence against our will.
@@VedicDiscourses "The jeevas have the innate ability to do (kartrutva) but it's not independent" - this sentence mean, jeeva has desire and need manifestation which bhagavantha facilitates ?
@@arvindhh3720 Yes. By definition, jeeva is one who has gnana-iccha-kriya. Otherwise, it won't be a jeeva (or living entity). So, as long as there is jeeva (which is eternal), there is gnana-iccha-kriya (manifest or unmanifest). However, it's not independent. Eternally, the jeeva is dependent on the Lord to exercise these (whether manifested or unmanifested).

Thanks to acharyaru for the enlightening q&a session.🙏🙏🙏. One humble question. As mentioned, god knows the svaroopa yogyatha of every soul. Also, he as antaryami makes the soul do sadhana as per its yogyatha. Then, even the sadhana is adheena of paramatma. So, when we as souls are so helpless, how is the soul blamed for not doing sadhana? When we are all puppets whose strings are being pulled by god... then even the thought of doing sadhana also he must only give. So.. how is kartrutva for jeeva to even pray? Kindly excuse if the question sounds arrogant.. only asking out of ignorance. Kindly enlighten.🙏🙏🙏
This is an excellent question and perhaps the most discussed topic by the scholars. Dr. Prabhanjanacharyaru has answered about 25 questions based on this topic in the video "Asvatantra Kartrutva" that was shot a few months back. You can have a look at it here - ua-cam.com/video/NZPdU-SH2R8/v-deo.html . Do make a list of questions you get after watching it as we will be making a part 2 of that video in a few months.
A big thankyou to vedic discourse team and Namaskara to Acharyaru for making such a complex subject so simple and clear by giving examples....thank you so much....one more question from my side is these days lot of importance is givem to astrology where people are tryinh to find solution to their problems ...but is it really possible to get rid of our karma by doing some homas as suggested by the astrollogers....can Achatyaru pl answer this question as it will be helpful to lot og people...
Good topic. I think it's time we addressed astrology in shastras. Including Vaastu & other similar topics and their impact on karma of a living entity & the role of prayaschitta / parihaara activities in the equation. Point noted.
@@VedicDiscourses thank you very much for the prompt reply and looking forward to answers from Acharyarru to gain the correct knowledge and not get fleeced by these astrologers and loose peace of mind as well....once again i applaud your effort in spreading the rifht knowledge and enlightening us...Namaskaras to the team
Thanks for aachayaru for excellent Q & A session. Is everything happening in our life is pre determined or do we ( individual )have any control on the happenings in life?
Achar addresses this briefly in Asvatantra Kartrutva (ua-cam.com/video/NZPdU-SH2R8/v-deo.html) video. There'll be a part 2 of that video in a few months where this topic will be delved into at a deeper level.
Wonderful, quick question- Achar told that paramathma and Jeeva are Anaadhi nithya, but what happens when a Jeeva attains moksha? I mean When all Jeeva attains moksha after a very very long time there will be just paramatma in one side rest all will be in moksha right? How come jeeva is not created by Pramatma is still my question. Can you pls ask acharya?
In my understanding atma is eternal. There are two athmas Paramathma and Jeevathma. Paramathma is just one and only Sri Hari and Jeevathma is a whole group of infinite athmas. In order to attain Moksha or original form of Athma, a jeevaathma will break the linga deha by doing bhakthi on lord SriHari. Pls tell if my understanding is correct else pls correct me
Jeeva & Paramatma co-exist always and one is eternally dependent on the other, even in moksha. Jeevas are never created nor destroyed - however the coverings, the dehas are created & destroyed, which doesn't happen in moksha for the jeeva.
By rule, every jeeva gets a fresh restart as the jeevas are too insignificant and incapable of carrying such a huge burden. But, it's true that the memory is regressed and is carried forward with us. And as Sri Krishna says in the Geeta 15.15, "Mattah Smrithih Gnanam Apohanam cha", the Lord is the controller of remembrance. There are instances in the Bhagavata where the Lord, out of mercy & in special cases, lets the jeeva see into a limited number of past lives (Jada Bharata example) for the benefit of the jeeva.
Thanks sir... One of the TV programs athma sanjeevini. Taking one to trance. Do these gurujis are powerful in washing out past karmas please let me know is it true they r ability? Don't mind sir this is my last question please reply.
Madhusudhana BM I don't know about those programs. However, in my opinion, it's not as easy as they show it out to be. So, I would be a lot sceptical about such procedures.
Dear Sirs, could you please consider making the videos in English or Telugu? Currently, the majority of Madhwa Siddhantha-related videos are in Kannada.
True. We need siddhanta in English. However, currently I don't have the resources to add subtitles for older videos. You can have a look at Madhvacharya4Youth... all their recent videos (by Dr. Sunder Madakshira) are in English. Instagram handle - madhwacharya4youth
There's a dire need for content in English. Unfortunately, adding subtitles takes a great deal of time. We do not currently have the capacity to take up this task. We are actively looking for people (since a few years) who can present these topics in English... unfortunately, haven't found the right candidate yet.
@Bigblrman75 Surya I admire your humour sense. But, I think they prepare speech by memorizing. I can understand kannada to some extent, but cannot understand much. By the way, I'm not Tamilian. Im Madhwa Marathi (a minority).
I have one question. Acharyaru helidaru jeeva elli bekadaro irutte adakke form koduva munche. Jeevakke form koduvudakku modalu aa jeevadalli paramatma iruttana.
@Vedic Courses: Acharyaru told atma is present in hrudaya bhaga (heart). During a heart transplant the doctor replaces one's heart. How come this is possible?
Namaste. Although the heart is the significant aavasa sthaana of the atma, it's not limited to it. For instance, the atma is said to reside in the area of the throat / right eye during sleep etc. In case the atma was limited to the heart, we would have seen people swap personalities as well with hearts. Since that is not what happens, it is safe to conclude that the atma isn't transferable with the parts of the body.
@@VedicDiscourses Thank you, I live in your neighborhood, Tamil Nadu but I have some friends in Bangalore, so I hope I can get it translated to me one day...
Ladies not chanting Gayatri mantra, then how they have to pray god? In last sentence Achar told "Dhiyo yo nah prachodayath". This is only for men? What about women? How they will get Moksha? , without Gayatri mantra?
The gayathri mantra is not the only way to mukti. The mantra is a prescription. And like all prescriptions, they vary by time, place, circumstances, gender etc. We can take a doctor's prescription that varies by age & gender as an example. The important aspect is the anusandhana behind that mantra as elucidated by the many dasaru in the lineage. Nowhere do the shastras say that moksha is gender prohibitive. In fact, the Mahabharata & Bhagavata speak of exalted devotees like Kunti, Devahuti etc who are to be taken as role models to achieve liberation. There are a lot more questions on the prescribed way of mukti for women. We are in the process of making a video on Stree dharma in today's world.
@@VedicDiscourses If Dasaru told same thing as it is in Gayatri Mantra, then what is wrong in chanting Gayatri Mantra by women? Is there any language restriction? All ಸ್ತ್ರೀಧರ್ಮ not giving any spiritual knowledge to the mind, only telling ಬಾಹ್ಯ karmas like dressing, cooking, singing, tulsi pooja etc. Please think about their knowledge gaining and educating them. It helps the society. There is no lady Vidwan in the Madhwa society. No gurukulas for girls. Without knowledge there is no Moksha. Women are restricted from knowledge. No veda, upanishad, puranas, Brahmasutras chanting rights and learning rights. Not even allowing them to listen in the classes. This is very painful for ladies who wants to learn all. This is very discouraging method of spirituality. For example, now ladies are becoming Engineers, Doctors, Pilots, Scientists, Politicians. In all the other fields no restrictions. Then why for our vedic culture particularly in Madhwa society? This is my humble curiosity from my childhood. There is no answer for this till today. All are telling learn Dasara Padagalu. If I am eligible for kannada version of knowledge then why not for Sanskrit version? There must be language restriction. If that is the case, girls are going to Sanskrit classes and colleges. That means no language restriction. This is only people don't want to educate ladies. Now a days western culture is dominating because of these restrictions in the Sanathana dharma. Please reform our Vedic society.
@veena mg Madame, its the other way of logic and it's simple; if elders(jnanis) have prescribed something, it should be easy to follow.. Why would anyone strain themselves, when they are paid same for carrying less load in life!! Well to answer, as per shastras and accrued knowledge, dwapara and kaliyuga women are more susceptible to vulnerability due to many physical, physiological and cosmic factors.. How much ever one/women may challenge out of this, it is impossible as the very nature (swabhava) and naadi doesn't permit.. It isn't dasaru's personal grudge or hatred for women to restrict on certain aspects!! They've been propagating what shastra actually says, we can easily concentrate on the crux of it, rather diluting with such questions!! We have many concurrent vidushis, who have been learning shastras by many means.. Many Achar's (respective!!) wives have been learning deep sense of shastras., without chanting any mantras'!! There's no restrictions on language, but, learning method.. Many wish to override all restrictions to work hard and achieve worldly possessions, ultimately breaking the rules, which is why main streedharma is left behind!! Also, there's no restrictions on learning spiritual advances... Why any changes required for vedic dharma!! There's always no restrictions for learning and attaining / imparting right knowledge that we gain by our best means!! It is Liberalism that has bought us to this stage.. If we intend to follow Madhwa shastras, let it be ritualistic.. Being sarvajna Madhwacharyaru would have recommended if it needed any amendments!! Let's not override for OUR particulars!!
@@Yadavame During olden days, no facilities for women to stay and travel. Therefore not able to go to gurukul and study. But at this 21st century, women are in all fields except in Madhwa spirituality. Please don't tell that "you can learn by studying Dasa Sahitya". I respect " Dasa Sahitya" and it is most knowledgeable. But it is not only to women and it is for men also. My question is if Dasa Sahitya tells same what is told in Veda and Upanishad. Then why women are not considering for learning sanskrit Vedas and Upanishads. Interested people are disappointed by this rule. It should be open for interested women also. Vidya devathe is Women only. Then why women are restricted from Veda shastra? If women are not permitted means, women are treating as lower than men. It should be agreed. My view is there should not be restriction or discrimination for spirituality and gaining knowledge and peace. It is required for women also. If women ready to learn, what is the problem in teaching to them?
@Krishna That's why I am asking this is a male domination society, for all knowledge gaining activities, people keeping away women. God never told like that. Because biological reason behind women also given by god only. Then how he restricts for that reason? All these restrictions are man made.
Dear sir, I still cannot understand why some souls are mukthi yogya and some are not in the first place. If souls are not created by God, why such different starting point and unfair endpoints?
Namaste, let me elaborate on the question first. Some jeevas are mukti yogya and some are not. And God is not part of it in the sense that God did not make the jeeva mukti yogya / or tamo yogya. But the misfortune remains. Isn't it unfortunate that some jeevas are never going to experience moksha because of misfortune - misfortune of being a bad jeeva, even though never created by God. Isn't such jeevas existence itself a misfortune? That bad nature is something that cannot be changed, and God doesn't change svabhava, so those jeevas are doomed, unfortunately. Can we blame it on fate? if not God? We have to understand what misfortune or unfairness means. This misfortune or unfairness is a result of the nature of the jeeva. This nature or svabhava isn't something that's imposed on the jeeva - rather it's the jeeva himself. These jeevas are not bad because of misfortune or unfairness - rather these jeevas are bad because they chose so. They continually make choices that make them miserable. The best example is Duryodhana. He has 1000 ways to be happy... but he continually made choices (not involuntary or forced, but fully voluntarily out of his own free will) that made him miserable. Similarly, even though these jeevas have ample opportunity to choose to be happy, they won't. It's not because they are doomed to make the choices they do - they are not. They choose out of their own free will. Another point to note - we talked about jeevas that are tamo-yogya, or bad natured jeevas (the continually voluntarily bad-choosing jeevas) - not to be confused with jeevas who make bad choices out of circumstances / reward or punishment as a result of karma. Such jeevas, who are not bad natured, eventually get the opportunity to set things right and qualify for mukti. One more - 'starting point & unfair endpoints'. As the Geeta says, jeevas are beginningless & endless. And nothing is unfair, given karma & jeeva's free will. Every jeeva is exactly where they are supposed to be - given their choices & the consequences of their past choices. Sorry for the late reply.
@@VedicDiscourses They how so many atma comes to existence.. who will control bad atmas then.. considering so many bad stuff happens around us why should good atma suffer from bad atma..
shal shal Atmas don't come into existence. As stated in Gita, Krishna tells Arjuna that Him (Krishna) and he (Arjuna) have always existed and will continue to exist irrespective of births and deaths. This existence serves as a platform where the jeevas are free to choose their actions and make their own destiny, be it naraka or svarga or moksha or samsara. Good or bad Atmas suffer as much as their karma from previous actions. Bad things happen to good people and good things happen to bad people as their anadi karma (deeds from countless previous births) is considered. The only solution to get out of this cycle of karma is to strive for moksha. Until then, this cycle exists for good as well as bad Atmas like a university exam conducted for both bad and good students impartially.
shal The first step as recommended by everyone is shravanam or hearing or learning about the one person who has the authority to grant moksha - God. We all have to start by making some time in our busy schedules to listen to pravachanas and to read our scriptures and their derivatives as presented by our acharyas, as much as our current situations enable. That will be a good start and as Krishna says in the Gita, ye yatha maam prapadyante, He comes closer to us as much as we go (or even attempt to go) towards Him.

Analogies are helpful for explaining subtle matters. But, too many analogies swallow reasoning. In this discourse, the Acharya rarely gives reasons or scriptural basis for his explanations. This appears to be a lacuna in this discourse. Reply to question number 28 is unsatisfactory. One cannot believe that good and wicked Jeevas remain so forever. Ramayana gives the instance of a violent robber like Valmiki becoming a sage and a great poet. In our lives also now and then we come across people who change for better. One cannot be condemned to a given fate for eternity.
Thanks for the feedback. While it's good to have pramaanas for statements, it's also important to keep the videos as simple as possible for the common folk to grasp the concepts with ease. These videos aren't meant for the scholars who would rather read the scriptures in Sanskrit directly. These videos are deliberately rich in analogies & relatable examples for ease of understanding.
As per the second point, that is, jeevas cannot remain bad or wicked forever - the example of Valmiki is appropriate. That is the great sage Valmiki was once a burglar, which proves that a jeeva can change. However, this isn't always the case. A counter example would be that of Duryodhana who had equal opportunities as any other to turn out good but didn't (Duryodhana's words: janami dharmam na cha me pravruttihi). A white cloth with brown spots can be washed and made white again. But if the cloth is inherently black, no amount of washing will ever make it white. Similarly, good natured living entities like Sage Valmiki do engage in bad deeds once in a while and bad natured living entities like Duryodhana do engage in good deeds once in a while. Ultimately, the role of the Lord is to bring out the inherent nature of the entity (like a farmer planting various seeds) and award them with consequences as per their deeds. Moreover, the bad natured living entities never even desire to be good natured. I would like to cite from my experience from a few years before - there was a show about nabbing criminals and putting them behind bars. This tv anchor goes to the criminal and asks him a few questions expecting guilt & regret. There wasn't an inch of guilt or regret in the criminal's response. His only regret was about getting caught and was annoyed about it. Svabhava is something that's associated with the svaroopa of the jeeva and is part of the jeeva's identity. So, a person who's inherently good natured cannot be changed to being inherently bad natured however much he or she can be influenced to be bad & do bad deeds. The same is true other way round.
I agree, it is disheartening to know when saadhana cannot change taamasic soul to a saatwik soul . If this human birth itself is for saadhana what is the use of that birth for non saatwik non mukthi yogya souls.
@@barthi652 as per my understanding a soul cannot be tamasic in all Janmas, even though it's concentration is higher, god will give chance to get liquefy and pure it. Like for instance there is No cloth by color Black in nature but rather the concentration of Black Dye in it does matter.
I think god doing partiality for women. Because lot of restrictions and prohibitions in doing prayer and pooja for women. Veda chanting prohibited. No spiritual education. No contacts with scholars. Only doing house work and taking care of children gives Moksha? Without jnana no Moksha is it right? Then women born always as women only. How she will get Moksha?
Yes, you women are blessed with easy achievements of punya, which could be utilized to earn jnAna.. I doubt if women are not let to pray and do pooja!!.. Rather "restrictions" one can comprehend it as "recommendations"/prescriptions, for differences among jeevas!! We men cannot claim for gunas of women, it's based on the "nature"!! Spiritual growth cannot be achieved just by recital of Vedas!! A pandit need not be jnAni!! Who can stop anyone to think in this pattern!! Why does anyone need a book for such actions!!? As all literature leads to same HIM, a lady can easily be driving all her thoughts, in this direction!! Who can stop this, God seems really partial to women to achieve continues and faster!!

@@sanjaisrao484 Thank you for your advise. My question is for women there is no choice and option. Only restrictions to read and pooja also. For men they can read , chant all vedas and mantras. This is purely discrimination and injustice to women. What you are advising to women, think once if it is reversed and applicable to men. Then you will ask same like me only. I like Vedas, I want to chant Vedas. But restrictions. This is purely injustice. Boys are allowed to all mantras, but most of them are not interested to learn. This is the irony. Indians wants women to save our culture but all men are dressing like western only. Men don't want to follow our culture. But preaching women to follow. Wonder is men don't want to give cultural knowledge to women, but she has to save our culture! Without knowing the importance and the hidden knowledge in our mantras, vedas and culture, how she can follow our culture? Culture means not only wearing dress of Indian type. It is understanding the knowledge of our Rishi's what they told. With out knowing the importance of GAYATRI Mantra, how mother or wife can co-operate at home to do Sandhyavandane? Therefore to save our culture, first women should be educated in the spiritual field, otherwise intercaste marriages, following other religion cultures we cannot stop.

A couple of other queries as well: 1) Can the Jiva think or do Manasika karma in its asrujya state 2) How does.Lord decide Jivas first form or birth?.

Acharyari ge namo namaha🙏
@@VedicDiscourses thanks to this question and answer. this is very valuable information 👌

Pls tell if my understanding is correct else pls correct me
@@ambarish360 That's correct. Linga deha is removed in moksha.
Jeeva & Paramatma co-exist always and one is eternally dependent on the other, even in moksha. Jeevas are never created nor destroyed - however the coverings, the dehas are created & destroyed, which doesn't happen in moksha for the jeeva.
Wonderful explation by acharyaru 🙏🙏 but is there any reasons for stree jeeva for not having the body of purusha jeeva ??
Not sure. I ll see if I can take this question up with Acharya the next time I meet.

Need to know past life regression therapy is true?
Do we see past and future life by Sadan?
By rule, every jeeva gets a fresh restart as the jeevas are too insignificant and incapable of carrying such a huge burden. But, it's true that the memory is regressed and is carried forward with us. And as Sri Krishna says in the Geeta 15.15, "Mattah Smrithih Gnanam Apohanam cha", the Lord is the controller of remembrance. There are instances in the Bhagavata where the Lord, out of mercy & in special cases, lets the jeeva see into a limited number of past lives (Jada Bharata example) for the benefit of the jeeva.

Could anyone translate?

Very good question. Let me try to address in detail in a few days' time.
Thank you , had same questions
Why does god create god nad bad atma then?
God never creates the atma. Neither creates their svabhava or innate nature. They've always existed and God makes sure they always exist.

shal shal Atmas don't come into existence.
@@VedicDiscourses thanks.. how does one attain moksha.
shal The first step as recommended by everyone is shravanam or hearing or learning about the one person who has the authority to grant moksha - God.
Male become female, female become male as per karma in previous life of jeevi. Pls clarify
Souls are genderless n it can take any forms.
Souls are not genderless. They have gender. Swaroopadalle gender illa andare dehakke hege gender baruttade

I to am a humble lay person. I would love a discourse which will elevate my depth of understanding.🙏🏼
It's said that, submission of each and every work to HIM with passion and devotion will make us think about HIM always, remembering HIM always, makes learn about HIS attributes, this is HIS jnAna!! Who can stop anyone to think in this pattern!! Why does anyone need a book for such actions!!? As all literature leads to same HIM, a lady can easily be driving all her thoughts, in this direction!! Who can stop this, God seems really partial to women to achieve continues and faster!!
@@Yadavame Without exam passing the exam does not give happiness. Like that women also should allow to learn and open for all spiritual subjects. Like men there should be a choice or option to women. There should not be compulsion. Knowledge gaining people likes knowledge only. Without giving knowledge, simply telling something is like ಮಕ್ಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಸಿಹಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಸಮಾಧಾನ ಮಾಡಿದ ಹಾಗೆ.
@Krishna why women are not having choice? If any biological reason, that also god only given. There should not be restriction. If men are allowed for all types of pooja, why not women? If she likes to chant Sri Hari Vayu stuthi, that is good for heart, biologically that words in it helps heart, she is not allowed. This is discrimination by people or god?
@@usefulwork4493 who told women don't have any ways to perceive Gnana?..
The panchama veda mahabharatha is there with 1Lack sholkas which cover everything in the world..Reading and understanding it completely is not possible in this janma too.Why don't you read mahabharatha and in tht Vishnusahasranama, bhagavata, 18 puranas?
they say women to don't recite veda that's it,but you can surely listen to the pravachanas on Vedas(ex-Upanishad) and perceive gnana..
And U can take krishna manthra upadesha to chant it daily.
And U can tell the keshava 24 namas daily which is derived from each words of gayathri manthra - which give equal punya as gayathri manthra.
Before blaming the god make use of the ocean available to you now !
Thankyou
