  • Hollywood stylist Brad Goreski opens up about his falling out with Rachel Zoe.
This is part 2 of our 3-part Media Beat interview with Brad.

Unlike the somewhat messy way his departure was portrayed on Bravo's The Rachel Zoe Project, Goreski says that he actually gave his former boss and good friend two months notice.
"It's strange that it turned into this whole thing, because for me it's a very logical thing to assist somebody and then after a certain amount of time choose to leave and go off and do your own thing. And I think that's really a natural progression," the star of It's a Brad, Brad World said. "I really felt like I had done my time, and I had reached a point personally - it was not anything that Rachel was doing - I had reached a point for me where I was like, 'I'm 33 years old. I love my job, but there's this voice inside of me that's telling me it's time to go.'"

Brad has always been respectful, honorable and didn't badmouth Rachel even when given ample opportunity and reason. Rachel could learn a bit about how to act with class and maturity from him.

I remember seeing him on his last days with Rachel Zoe on her Bravo show. Rachel had another of her male assistants call Brad's live-in boyfriend and ask when Brad would be shooting HIS show. On those days, they figured out Rachel kept Brad purposely hours later than he was scheduled to be there because they shot when he got home from Rachel's. On one of the last days, Brad ask the other girl assistant he worked with and she admitted privately that Rachel had told her to go home early on those days, and Brad was told by Rachel that the girl assistant was the one to ask to leave and he would have to stay and pick up her slack. I'll never forget Brad's last day...again, it was a shooting day for Brad after he was suppose to leave Rachel's. Rachel again told him the girl assistant he was suppose to work with had to mysteriously leave early (no reason given), he would have to stay hours later that night, and (get this) after he had packed all the boxes, the boxes would be gone over to see if he had exactly packed them right and if he hadn't, Rachel said, he would be there all night until they were. At that time, I honestly thought he was going to cry...he had the courage to stand up to her after a long day and tell her what he knew about the girl assistant being asked to leave early, that Rachel had had someone check on his shooting schedule and suddenly he was always asked to work hours later on those days, that he did a good job and wasn't going to be critiqued on his box packing abilities but instead basically said he didn't trust her anymore and he couldn't work for anyone he didn't trust. And he was quitting that night even tho he had put his notice in already like he said in the video. Rachel argued with him, and basically told him to not let the screen door hit him on his way out (my analogy but she didn't show any remorse). I used to and still try to like her but she treated him awfully when it looked like he would be any sort of even a little competition for her. That's why Brad hesitates every time he gets asked about Rachel Zoe...he is a classy guy and is smart to watch how he answers. Rachel should have treated him better and wished him well when he left...but she didn't. Sorry, so long...will never forget that, though.

Betty Smith wow! What a summary! I used to think that Taylor in the first season was a bitter biotch, but later, I understood that Rachel was a bad leader that only frustrated her team

Many high-profile stylists or anyone working in the fashion industry with that rolodex of contacts like Rachel Zoe would not let an assistant have a minute alone time with any of their clients. Fortunately for Brad, he came in at the time where Rachel was putting into a situation where she had to delegate some of her works onto Brad and Brad saw that opportunity to develop personal relationships with her clients who eventually went with Brad when he decided to leave the company. Facts are facts.

Rewatching this now and noticing that Rachel is extremely self centered, spoiled and very privelege I dont think she sees beyond herself regardless of what is going on. Alot of jealousy there as well brad is incredibly successful

Here’s my take on the whole situation,I believe that Rachel was alil upset that Brad had left and wanted to do his own thing and instead of supporting him she treats him like a red headed step child she handled the situation wrong and furthermore I don’t believe that Brad would steal clients from her who steals clients that doesn’t make sense to me

These people are doomed to part. In this business, there is too much tension, too much pressure, too many personalities, too much ego, too much attitude, too much deceipt, too much back stabbling. There is no way you could last.

Tbh I can see how both of them could be extremely unlikable in real life. Rachel treats men like accessories, starting with her husband. You are nothing more than a prop or pop of color to her life. I like Rachel Zoe via tv etc but I also can tell she’s probably not the warmest to be around. Brad on the other hand, while nice on the surface,is just as self centered and whiny as Rachel. They both seem to not be able to see past themselves. Brad seems sneaky like he’ll bad mouth you to your own clients but Rachel seems like a Mean Girl.

Rachel can come across as a mean girl and she most definitely treats Roger like an accessory (I wonder if they still together to this very day hmm 🤔) but as far as Brad goes I don’t personally see him as self centered he seems like a genuinely nice guy

Did I miss something? I have most of The Rachel Zoe Project on DVD and still watch them quite often. However, at 0:28 the interviewer says that Brad interviewing for the stylist assistant position with Rachel was part of an episode, and Brad confirms that. I have never seen a clip of him interviewing for the job with Rachel. Even in the first few episodes of season one, Rachel does a voiceover, in which she just mentions that Brad was hired to take some of the work load off of Taylor, but never showed Brad actually interviewing for the position. I always like to watch job interviews, does anyone know if there is a clip out there that actually shows Brad's interview applying for the position?

My uninformed take is that he is probably bitchy and backstabbing. He should not have taken a client. There are good ways to end a relationship in a faithful way. I am doubting that happened here.
