Ok, literally, my jaw dropped and I got chills when I saw the grand prize game! My grandparents lived in Valparaiso, IN so I watched WGN and Bozo every summer. The costumes bright a tear to my eye. Oh … the memories! My grandparents tried getting tickets but they were booked for years! Many years! I absolutely HAVE to visit to see this! I do remember the puppets. I am a little older than you. Thank you so much for taking us along. This is fabulous! I am so glad they preserved all of this.
I grew up watching Bozo the clown. I'm from Indiana and I would watch Sammy Terry. Didn't know who spigoli (sp) was until I saw this video. Your reaction to Bozo was the best. Thanks for bringing my childhood memories back.
I'm from Chicago, but live in Canada now. What a joy to see your show about Bozo and Garfield Goose! I grew up on all of them. Thank you for this great vlog down memory lane.
I’m in central IL and had no idea this museum existed. I was actually fortunate enough to be on the Bozo show when I was young. I really don’t remember much about it, but we still have pictures taken at the show with Bozo, Cookie, and myself. Thanks for showing us around. I’m going to have to check this museum out the next time I’m in Chicago.
@@badapple65 My godmother, who is my mom’s best friend, lives in Chicago and we’d go visit a few times a year. I imagine she’s the one who got us the tickets. I was in brownies, but we never did anything that cool. I loved the show too, and watched it all the time. I wish I could remember more of actually being there.
Great tour! I grew up watching reruns of Gilligan's Island and every kid loved Bozo the Clown! Even if you didn't grow up in Chicago or the Midwest you know the importance of those broadcasters especially the great Harry Caray. And wow- Heddy Lamar at the entrance (she has a fascinating history too!). Another great tour! I love your depth of knowledge but really appreciate your fascination with history and the arts. Hugs to Jah! ☺️😊😍🥰❤️☀️🦩🦩☀️
This was such a great nostalgic journey. I remember watching Bozo on WGN as a kid from Missouri. I loved Bozo he made your proud of being yourself and loving yourself. And listening to Paul Harvey the rest of the story. Classic. Awesome Jordan.
I too watched Bozo everyday growing up, but I barely can remember it, really just a memory that I did watch & loved him. I had a Bozo doll that I carried around the house with me, I wish I still had him! I'm almost 60, so this must have been from mid 1960's on. Thanks for this great video, Jordan!!! 🌼
This is so cool! I used to see the Skipper's hat in interviews with Sherwood Schwartz. You could see it in the backround of his office. I also enjoyed seeing Svengoolie's stuff. I remember when he got his new coffin and retired the old one. I love his show! Thank you for the awesome tour!
Proud to say I saw Bozo at 5 years old in 1970. He was in downtown Detroit, MI (not sure where) and besides seeing awesome Bozo live, they showed The Wizard Of Oz for all the boys and girls to enjoy. Shaking his hand that day will always be a treasured memory for me.
I was born in 1966 and from the Chicagoland area. This is a treat for me! I should be ashamed because Im only 15 miles from Downtown Chicago and havent been to his museum. BUT It is on my to do list before year end! I grew up with the first Bozo, Ray Rayner (which was a weekly morning show that we depended HIGHLY on for weather and sports reports. Especially when there was a snowstorm....we would pray to hear Ray call our School's name, telling us it was closed because of the snow. Gigglesnort Hotel was awesome! Thanks for brining back these great memories. So proud of my city!
I remember the Bozo Show in California in 1958. I was one of the kids that came out as a contestant on the cartoon show that came out before Bozo starring Skipper Frank. They would show different cartoons each week and during the show I had to pull out a soda bottle from their soda machine. If there was a number attached under the soda base you would win a Schwyn bicycle. I didn’t win but got to take home lots of consolation prizes, games, etc. I’ll never forget that experience being their guest during the entire show. They treated me so nice and remembered how I had to look into the red light of the camera while being filmed. Thanks Jordan for the wonderful memories of Bozo the clown and the many exhibits there seeing it thru your eyes. ❤️🙏🏻
Great episode , I grew up with Bozo as well. Native Southern California boy grew up in the TV and movie industry. Mr. Hale dated my Mother. His restaurant's name was actually Alan Hale's Lobster Barrel. He was a Good man and always kind. Many fond memories.
This looks like an amazing museum, imagine you could spend a whole day exploring this place. Loved the Charlie McCarthy Oscar. Once more Jordan, many thanks.
Hello Jordan, I met Bozo back as a child in the mid 1970's in a small town I grew up in at a local festival. It was Pinconning Michigan. He said hi and talked to me a minute then started a conversation with my mom and my eldest sibling, my adult sister. He was telling them {and griping a little} about how he had to send his wigs out to have them cleaned and the hair done and that it was expensive and a pain in the butt. All of a sudden he was an adult and not the squirrelly Bozo! My bubble was kind of popped for a minute but I will never forget seeing him in person in full character...most of it lol!
Very cool, Larry Harmon the Bozo Owner was the Bozo in Windsor Canada which covered Detroit, next time you see Scott Michaels ask him …love the channel as always
Born in 65’ myself I remember watching Gillian’s Island reruns every afternoon after school. I always dreamed on being on the Bozo show in fact I would practice the ping ball bucket toss game at home often? The studio went nuts whenever a kid hit the 6th bucket. They’d award them a brand new bicycle! Remember how they’d choose the contestants? They’d shake the camera all around pointed at the studio audience and a white arrow came to a stop on the lucky contestants.
When I was a school kid in the 70s, in the spring, we always checked Ray Rayner's weather forecast before dashing out to school. He would write the current temps on the green chalkboard. It meant Jacket or no jacket. Lol
This was awesome! I remember Bozo when I was a kid in the 70’s. What a wonderful time when a parent can sit their child in front of a TV and not worry. When you were showing all the people in broadcasting I thought I saw or heard you mention Art Laboe and just read he passed away. This is probably the closest I will get to Chicago. Thanks again Jordan! Love to Jah!
Really had fun watching you and your reactions to the clown you loved as a kid. When I was a young'un my favorite was Clarabell the Clown on the old ''Howdy Doody Show. The first Clarabell was Bob Keeshan, who later became Captain Kangaroo (1952). Those were the good old days when clowns represented a happy time for kids. Thanks for the memories Jordan.
Thank you for this. I remember all of those characters and puppets well. I grew up I suburban Chicago and went to Bozo Circus in 5th grade. Those WGN shows shaped my young self.🙏
Absolutely loved this one Jordon. I appreciate we can now almost relive our old television mediums through such well thought out, realistic museums such as this. I appreciate too Jordon how you give the viewer street acess both via car and walking. You enable us to feel like we are right there with you. Thankyou, as always Jordon & safe travels to both yourself & Jah. Kind regards from Perth, Australia 🇦🇺
Bozo was a huge part of my mornings growing up. I would get up early to watch the Ralph Emery show, being from Nashville, just to watch the snow report then id watch Bozo mainly to see them try for the buckets. Every afternoon after school id watch Gilligan's Island reruns. This brought back fond memories. Thanks man.
🙋🏽♀️YAY!!!! Hi!!...Thank you Jordan for another extremely fun, informative and exciting trip!! I loved watching. Gilligan's island was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I just bought the complete series on amazon!...seeing the skipper's hat was so cool!!.😁😊⚘♥️
I went there a few years ago and saw the Saturday Night Live exhibit.....LOVED the Bozo costumes (I grew up with the Bob Bell Bozo) and the Svengoolie set Sooo many memories!!
Defiantly enjoyed this! My brothers and I grew up watching Bozo Circus. There were times when Bozo and Cookie would do skits, and they would crack up when bloopers would occur, so they add them into the show! Ray Raynor aired 7am weekdays on WGN, he was entertaining, made crafts, ran cartoons like Bugs Bunny, Batman. Roger Triemstra the weatherman would call the show and Ray would write his report down on a chalkboard. He'd run out of room and write on the frame of the board! So many memories.
Jordan, thank you for such a wonderful video! I grew up in Chicago and this video brought back so many fantastic memories from my childhood! I loved Bozo (Bob Bell's version), and all of the great characters! Ray Rayner was another great morning show! Fun fact: Ray Rayner was always forgetting things and used to paperclip reminders to this outfit!! He used to have Chelveston the Duck who was rather mean and chased him around the desk! Hilarious to see that! Ray also had the late great Dr. Lester Fisher of the incredible Lincoln Park Zoo and would educate us kids on the various animals. Who can also forget the great Svengooli and Creature Features, which played scary movies! BJ Dragon and the crazy characters was always funny too. He was an incredible artist who would start out with just a letter or number and soon would draw an amazing picture! Sorry to ramble on, but you brought back a flood of wonderful childhood memories! Thank you, Jordan!!❤
The waiting list for tickets for Bozo was over 7yrs , so pregnant women would apply for tickets , so by the time they got tickets their child would be old enough
Hi Jordan, I'm Jim Sawyer, I'm a former Chicagoan living in Florida, so glad you went to the broadcast museum & enjoyed it, for the number of displays about the shows & everything, I can relate to it all, the original Svengoolie back in the sixties & seventies was by Jerry G Bishop, that was a late night staple on WFLD 32, that & Cartoon Town with the late Bill Jackson, that was an afternoon show, Bozo was a noontime show, Mulqueens Kiddie-A- Go-Go I remember that from visits to California at my late aunt and uncles house, Larry Lujack was the main DJ at WLS radio, AM 89, Frazier Thomas with Garfield Goose, Family Classics on Sunday, so much I can relate to completely, I'm an old car enthusiast, so I tried to get ahold of WGN TV & see if I could find out if they had old videotapes of the Chicago auto show but no luck, but if I ever get a chance to go back to Chicago, I'm definitely hitting the museum to revisit broadcasting history in Chicago, again, glad you enjoyed everything, I hope you also had a Chicago hot dog, an Italian beef sandwich, White Castle hamburgers, & last but not least, some fabulous deep dish pizza!!
In the early 60s Bozo aired at noon and my grade school had the kids go home for lunch. At 12:30 Bozo Buckets played and we had to rush back to school after it finished. Thanks, Jordan.
Thank you do much for this video. I grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago. I grew up watching Bozo, Ray Rayner and Garfield Goose!!!! Great memories.
Thanks Jordan! Didn't know this existed. Gonna have to take my sister and check it out. We were big Bozo fans and we are from Illinois and still here lol Thanks again for a awesome trip down memory lane 😊👍🏻
I'm so excited! I was hoping Garfield Goose would be there! He thought he was The King of The United States. I grew up with him. Thank you for showing him!
P.S.-I grew up in California, and BOZO was the show I watched, and Hobo Kelly! She was magical, we all thought she was calling real little kids by their name! Haven’t heard anything about her, and I am 61 years old. I have my grandparents bozo that we played with in the 60’s-he is so cool.
So much history! This was fantastic. I have to fess up and say I am one of those people who are afraid of most clowns (I know it's weird) but not Bozo. He was great. Loved his show growing up. Each display was done so well and really told each story. Another great find Jordan!
Chicago's awesome and beautiful while you're here I hope you enjoy our wonderful restaurants and our wonderful weather thank you so much for the video you're awesome
Wow! Great vlog, Mr. Jordan! I'm in my 50's, and use to watch Bozo's Circus every day, in the 70's when I was a kid. That's when cable TV became "a thing" hehe. And, of course, I would watch Gilligan's Island reruns! Thanks so much.
Another great video Jordan. You point out something interesting, I grew up in NE Ohio and a lot of my friends ended up Cubs fans because we would get their games on WGN.
I used to listen to Dr. Demento, on the radio, friday nights when i was in high school! After listening to his show, i’d go downstairs to watch Monty Python and the Flying Circus!! Serious child memories!!
I'm from Michigan, live in South Carolina now. I remember watching Bozo growing up and wanting to be on the show.. This is so cool. We had two Bozo shows the one in Chicago and one in Grand Rapids
Couldn't figure out the red suit at first, thought it might have been Wizzos, then you brought up Prifessor Andy, and it just hit me . Question. Did they bring g Rusty back after Cookie retired. I know they also had a lady clown too after Wizzo got sick with cancer I think ot was, and Cookie retired.
I feel like I was there with you! What fun! Lots of memories. In California, I believe Larry Harmon was the Bozo I grew up with but still fun to see all of the Chicago Bozo memorabilia. That Bob Hope jacket is amazing. I saw Bob a few times, I got to work on one his TV specials, doing cue cards. My boss, Barney McNulty, had created cue cards, and Barney would travel with Bob to all the USO shows. I also worked shortly on a Sherwood Schwartz show called The Munsters Today. I saw that his daughter hope lent the museum the hat. If memory serves correctly, she was a production assistant on that show. How cool to see that Alan Hale hat and learn the story behind it! I did meet Alan Hale once and he was just as great as Skipper! I'm envious you got to see a real Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd! Thanks for posting this!
Jordan, I always enjoy your videos about television and music history. I also have a bit of a connection to one of the people you mentioned. See, I went to high school with Marty Brennaman’s wife Amanda. I got to meet him about 7 years ago at my high reunion. It really is a small world.
Loved the Bozo show and Bozo and Cookie and Andy and them was my time and I watched them before school every morning and I knew it was time to leave when the grand prize game was over or I would be late for school and sometimes I was lol. Thanks for the memories.
I love all this stuff so much The Bozo show is bringing back a lot of memories one of my friends from school ended up being on that show and I got so jealous 😂🤣
Bozo in Chicago was so popular it was very difficult to get tickets for the show. I heard a story about a family that ordered tickets for their young son. The tickets finally arrived the day before he left for boot camp.
Ray Rayner had multiple jumpsuits. One of the things I learned about him was he was a weatherman before the kids show and after the kids show wrapped, he went back to being a weatherman.
Really cool video Jordan, great job. I always loved watchin Bozo the clown and I was born in 1990 and I loved watching Gilligan's Island when I was growing up. Great video, keep up the great work
I grew up in Chicago and always loved Bozo's Circus. Bob Bell was the original Bozo on WGN, starting in the early 1960s. Ray Rayner was Oliver O. Oliver.
my favorite exhibits were svenegooly. i watch his show every Saturday nights and the bozo show displays. i watched him every morning back in 1989. loved that show.
Another great video. I totally enjoy watching your past and present videos. They are so unique and interesting. My friend, you have such a great talent as you provide extremely diverse and exceptionally interesting videos! It’s Ron from Canada being exceptionally impressed again!!
A friend of mines uncle was a stage hand for WGN we got to attend many live shows. Was on Bozo a dozen times and also on the Frazier Thomas Goose show. This was back in early 70s
My mother and I lived in Chicago, from mid 60's to 1970. I remember the Bozo shows, Ray Rayner, Frasier Thomas, sorta low rent Capt. Kangaroo, Dirty Dragon and the Scout master. God, .......................... I'm old.
I grew up watching the Bozo show as well. We also got the WGN channel in Louisville KY where I'm from and I can remember many many times watching Bozo and "THE GRAND PRIZE GAME" lol.
Thank you so much for going there! One of the museums I would love to go to. I was supposed to go there one day, but they closed early 😔. Anyways, I really appreciate this video and all that you do!!!! 😄😄😄
Im from southern Indiana..grew up watching the bozo show and the grand prize game...i always thought i could get all the buckets as a kid lol....also a fine gentleman by the name of "wesley willis" was also from chicago a great artist and musician, sadly he has since passed away....
My family is/was from Chicago and every time I went to visit ( I was born in Manhattan ) I used to watch Garfield a Goose and Bozo when I visited my Nana.
Good video. Haven't been to Chicago in years but had a great time while I was there. Chicago Fun Fact - After Oprah moved her offices from Chicago to West Hollywood, CA, Harpo Studios was demolished and the corporate headquarters of McDonald's now occupies that site. (Also, Alan Hale Jr's restaurant in L.A. was called Alan Hale's Lobster Barrel.)
great blog today. the blob, dragon, professor etc were from a show called gigglesnort hotel. My siblings and I used to watch that but I don't think it was a widely known show. keep up the great work Jordan!
They're missing Oliver O Olivers costume. He was played by Ray Rayner. I'm surprised that they'd leave him out and make no mention of his character on The Bozo Show. Ray Rayner was the best. Frazier Thomas took over for Ned Locke as the Ringmaster for Bozos Circus when Ned retired.
I am from Chicago and I have been to the Wrigley field and I used to watch the Bozo the clown show and I was born in 1974 and I was hoping that they would bring back shows like I grew up with because they were family oriented and without all of the violence like today....
Since Gillian was there I was hoping for a 3 hour tour. 😊
Lol 😂
🥁
Lol I like what you did there lol
Good one!
😂😀

So happy to see you! Be safe, you are so very loved! Thank you for all the fun!

Do you also remember the Dick Tracey Show? BTW, so funny to see Chelveston the Duck and his antics, laughed so hard!
Hi Jordan, great seeing the JFK items and the original Gilligan's Skipper's hat. Glad you got to see your Bozo items too. Great vlog Jordan.
The waiting list for tickets for Bozo was over 7yrs , so pregnant women would apply for tickets , so by the time they got tickets their child would be old enough
I love this place. I think I could spend hours in here. Thank you bring us here. This was fun. Take care.

I'm so excited! I was hoping Garfield Goose would be there! He thought he was The King of The United States. I grew up with him. Thank you for showing him!
I recall coming home from kindergarten (was a half day way back then) - and watching Bozo around noontime. thanks for sharing....
oh my - BJ and the Dirty Dragon - forgot all about that one.
I love skippers hat the most!
Thank you Jordan! ~Love&Light♥️C.
Thanks for sharing! So much fun watching!
Mr. Frazier was also a ring master on Bozo show also Mr. Frazier did another show called Family Classics
Sevgooli I watch every Saturday
Enjoyed, totally! Thank you, Jordan
I used to have nightmares from watching Bozo…
Ray Rayner had multiple jumpsuits. One of the things I learned about him was he was a weatherman before the kids show and after the kids show wrapped, he went back to being a weatherman.
Really cool video Jordan, great job. I always loved watchin Bozo the clown and I was born in 1990 and I loved watching Gilligan's Island when I was growing up. Great video, keep up the great work
I remember when a tv bulb went out you could take it to a market and check it to see if was bad good old days thanks for posting be safe Jordan
Edgar Bergen's Daughter Is Candace Bergen
I grew up in Chicago and always loved Bozo's Circus. Bob Bell was the original Bozo on WGN, starting in the early 1960s. Ray Rayner was Oliver O. Oliver.
Great vlog! Thanks for sharing Jordan.
Nothing better than Bozo and Captain Kangaroo from the mid 1960’s. Well let’s not forget Batman.
Wow what a cool place to visit thanks for sharing love it
my favorite exhibits were svenegooly. i watch his show every Saturday nights and the bozo show displays. i watched him every morning back in 1989. loved that show.
Very cool! Leaves me warm and fuzzy inside.
That's awesome!
Wonderful! But you just made me feel really old! 😂
Wasn’t there a Bob Rock as Bozo too?
Bozo was the greatest, love Svengolie he's wonderful you have the most fun, love your work
In the mid 60's I went to elementary school right across the street from house. I used to run home at lunchtime to watch Bozo.
I was so fortunate to go to the bozo show in fourth grade when the great bob bell was bozo one of my greatest memories
Im from southern Indiana..grew up watching the bozo show and the grand prize game...i always thought i could get all the buckets as a kid lol....also a fine gentleman by the name of "wesley willis" was also from chicago a great artist and musician, sadly he has since passed away....
Used to watch BOZO at my grandparents way way over in Indiana because they had a gigantic TV tower on the farm. But in black and white.
Jordan and Jah have a great week have fun thanks from Oklahoma
They're missing Oliver O Olivers costume. He was played by Ray Rayner. I'm surprised that they'd leave him out and make no mention of his character on The Bozo Show. Ray Rayner was the best. Frazier Thomas took over for Ned Locke as the Ringmaster for Bozos Circus when Ned retired.
Great displays, Great vlog 👍.
Ahhh my youth! Thanks Jordan!
Thank you Jordan ,very fun video you light up with these memories , can't imagine what you have next but know all great videos x ria Woolton England
I am from Chicago and I have been to the Wrigley field and I used to watch the Bozo the clown show and I was born in 1974 and I was hoping that they would bring back shows like I grew up with because they were family oriented and without all of the violence like today....
This was a wonderful video!! I enjoyed every minute ☺ 😊 👍
