- Planning your first visit to Georgia? Take my advice, visit Georgia in winter! Best decision ever. Initially you’d think, what would you in the snow mountains, if you can’t ski. Well trust me, there is a lot. You’re bound to enjoy Gudauri irrespective of whether or not you know to ski.
This video will give you a detailed overview of all the sights you can see and the activities you can do on your first visit to gudauri in winter.
Apart from wine, Georgia is famous for its Caucasus mountains as well and the best time to visit them is in winter, when they’re in their full glory! Ofcourse you can ski and snowboard in Gudauri. But if you don’t know to ski, there are other things to keep you busy, such as -
Snowmobiling, Toboganning, Cable Car ride, take a day trip to Ananauri and if you’re done with all of the above then simple stroll, play and build a snow man!
Ideally, you want to spend 2 nights in Gudauri to fully enjoy the winter in gudauri. Also, the best area to book your accommodation is New Gudauri. The cable car and ski lifts are steps away. Also, all the Restaurants and bars are in walking distance. Since we visited Georgia in march 2021, there were several bars and restaurants that weren’t open. Also, the casinos and spas were closed. Yet, we didn’t get bored for a second. We stayed in Gudauri for 3 nights and 2 out of 3 days, its was snowing all day all night. So you have to keep in mind, the weather changes that may happen when you visit georgia in winter, generally.
Gudauri is 2.5 hours away from Tbisli and we made a few stops on our way to Gudauri. We stopped at the Zhinvali Reservoir, the Ananauri Fortress, The Arch of Friendship etc. I have no idea how Gudauri would look in the summer, but now that I have seen the mountains for how they are during the winter, I doubt, I’ll visit them in any other season. I enjoyed my snow experience in Georgia and I’ll definitely be back for more fun next year!

Hey there, did I get this right? You’re going to Georgia from 6th - 8th jan in 2023? Snow is pretty high at that time but in Gudauri. Tbilisi doesn’t get much snow. And you need look into Airbnb for such a big group dear. For my group tours we take multiple hotel rooms because houses in those countries generally come with 1 bathroom even if it’s a 3 bedroom house.

I visited Gudauri in March 2021. It was covered in snow everywhere. So I would say Jan to March is a good time to visit.

Nice to see snow mountains. I decided to visit Gudauri after watching your vlog and will be traveling next week from Dubai. This will be my first time in snow so could you please suggest if we can rent/buy snow boots in Georgia? Also, do we need to get a travel insurance from Georgia or insurance from ariline will work?
I generally buy the travel insurance from the airline which works perfectly fine because if you’re going with flydubai, they give good insurance through AIG. It covers covid. You can most likely rent snow boots from Gudauri. I’m so happy and grateful you found my videos so inspiring.

Thanks. This was March. But I doubt it would be such weather in March. Due to global warming, snowfall has marginally reduced. This year we took my group for a snow trip second week of feb, the guide told that was the first time they had snowfall which is at least a month an half late.

Hello dear.. We are planning to visit Georgia on May 1st week from UAE.. It would be great if you could suggest whether we should carry dress ideal for winter or summer as we do not know the climate over there during May first week.. Also, can you suggest some good places to visit during that time?
May 1st week, you won’t get any snow for sure. I’d carry a light jacket and perhaps couple of warm tshirts for the evening. But I’m pretty sure the days could be quite warm. It’s really hard to pack for shoulder seasons. It also depends on where you’re going. Belgrade is warmer than the mountains. So check out the weather temperatures on accuweather for your dates. They’re 90% accurate.

Highly unlikely. Perhaps in the mountains but still chances are very low.

I stayed in New Gudauri and I visited in March. Jan feb March are maximum snow months. I’m hosting a group trip to Georgia in February specifically to enjoy a lot of snow.

Hello there thanks and welcome to my channel. Dubai residents don’t need a visa. Here- Holders of valid visa or residence permit of UAE are exempted from visa requirements. You can enter Georgia without a visa for 90 days in any 180-day period. - hope that helps.

See if you visit during snow season, there is a chance of rain occasionally. I visited Georgia in March 2021 and the snow was knee deep. However the 3 days we were in Gudauri, it was snowing everyday. Not like a storm just snowing. So obviously it was not clear or Sunny. It was clear when we got there and it was clear for a few hours before we left. We got very little sun. So that a risk you’ll run if you want knee deep snow. I would say feb or early March is the best time for that.

I went first week of March. You may or may not get snow in first week of April. It’s 50-50 chance.

Unfortunately no I don’t but Gudauri is truly an epic place for skiing and snow boarding.

Depends when are you planning to go. If you’re going now then I absolutely don’t recommend it. And kazbegi is unreachable all winter.

This year, all around the world, it has snowed much less. There wasn’t much snow in December either. So March last week doesn’t seem promising to me for snow. But you never know. The weather has been acting strange Year after year. We went in early March and now I’m going in feb. And there is a lot of snow.

Yes. The gondola was right outside our building. That house gets booked out much in advance so I advise to book it as soon as possible.

I didn’t quite understand your question. During jan and feb it’s impossible to visit Kazbegi. The roads are blocked. You can still visit GUDAURI. It is a ski destination so tourists and residents visit GUDAURI but you need to have the right car and appropriate tyres etc. ideally I suggest staying in gudauri and going to kazbegi on a day trip if it’s not blocked due to snow.

Should it be December or February. Which is the name of the hotel that was near to that ski resort where you stayed. Please advise. We also want service apartment and not hotels. Hotels are generally more costly I feel. And in apartment we have liberty to cook simple food

Hey Elle, 99% there won’t be. Due to climate shift, you can expect snow only in the first week of jan. Definitely not December. Also that would only be in the mountain region. Tbilisi never snows.

I’ve never been to Kutaisi but the rule of getting visa on arrival for uae residents is a country law not just a city’s law. When are you planning to visit?

I haven’t visited Montenegro so I can’t comment on that but if you’re an Indian you don’t need a visa to enter serbia. All of Europe is relatively warm in July and quite crowded too. Check the website accuweather for the weather on your dates in July.
