  • The Neyyar Dam is a gravity-operated structure on the Neyyar River in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala, South India. It is about 30 km from Thiruvananthapuram and is situated at the base of the Western Ghats. It was created in 1958 and is a well-liked picnic area.
    Activities at the Neyyar Dam :
    1. Boating
    For Rs 250 per person, tourists can rent a speed boat to view the nearby forests.
    2. Crocodile Rehabilitation and Research Centre
    In 1977, a crocodile farm was established. Additionally, it has an otter habitat close to the administrative building. The Kerala government first called the Crocodile Rehabilitation and Research Center at Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary Steve Irwin National Park in honor of the late naturalist.
    3. Yoga
    The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanwanthari Ashram, where students can enroll in yoga classes and engage in meditation, is located near Neyyar Dam. Due to the care taken by the residents, the trees growing inside the ashram are big.
