  • Alstroemeria, also known as Peruvian Lilies are loved for their long flowering period in the garden and as cutflowers. 'Deadheading' is used to encourage repeat flowering of many plants and in this tutorial Catherine demonstrates the specific and slightly unusual technique to use for Alstroemeria to produce even more blooms!

Thank you very much. I know now how to take care of my leggy lilies.
They were part of my wedding table bouquets.

Hello, may I know what to do with my Alstroemeria in winter pls? I live in Ireland near the beach and I've planted 2 varieties (tall and dwarf) of Alstroemeria last spring. They flowered beautifully especially the dwarf variety, both are planted in pots. Now that the temperature is declining, I wonder if I need to do anything to protect them from the frost??

Can they be propagated with cuttings?

Hi Paula, yes, they can also be propagated by division of the rhizomes.

You were right. I pulled out the spent shoots and some root came with it. I planted it and a new plant grew!
