This mexican guy that i know fell out of a window and now he cant walk and he needed to learn how to transfer from his wheelchair to the floor and back into his wheelchair. Thanks for the video!
Thank you. I have been trying to find a new way to get off the floor. I've been a paraplegic for over 30yrs and have arthritis in my shoulders. The normal Para way of getting up is not possible for me now, I might give this way a go. ta.
No success, shoulders are shot.... come out of my chair 3 times in the past 10 weeks. It was hell trying to get back up. Cracked a bit of my knee joint, and done some damage to my neck somewhere along the way, lol... My shoulder is still sore, should get results of the MRI I had done last week, tomorrow. Sux getting old, lol..
Skipychic Lim, why are you falling out of your chair so often? You definitely should hold off from trying to get yourself back up on your own. We hope you feel better soon!
More Than Walking I've sorted the "why" out. It was my knee that wasn't bending properly due to the first failed transfer (not exactly a fall) knee is good now and transferring is back to normal. Although if I end up on the floor again I'm going to have the same problem getting back up. If I overbend my knee it will crack again and swell....thus the vicious circle starts again. I now have a slideboard in the car for emergencies as my shoulders are really bad in the winter.
Yes but not bi-laterally the same tho. Left side i have bicep, tricep, lats and shoulder. Although i have fine motor in the fingers on the left there is significant weakness in them. Right side i only have bicep and lats.
I really appreciate your muster and strength

Do you ever cut or scrap your knees when you do floor transfers like that on hard surfaces like the one in this video?
Yes, you definitely need to check your knees, and preferably put a towel underneath when kneeling if possible.

Putting all that weight on your knees like that can snap your osteoporosis femurs or knee cap.
