Dutch Reefer thank you very much buddy, am Moroccan I moved to Scotland since 2005, my other half she’s Scottish, we are together now for about 17 years .
Thank you for the first 2019 lesson we appreciate it Dutch ✌
Ha you're welcome Jody! :)
Tank is looking very good.
Looking good as always Dutch!
Great stuff Dutch Reefer! That battery backup was $ well spent ;)
Yeah indeed Sunny, it definitely was and is! Flow is so important, can't have your livestock die over some stupid power outage!
Looking Amazing !
quality info dutch, I have a big build series getting ready here soon love your videos brother
Thanks Marlin! Ah that sounds great, which one did you get?
Gorgeous as always
Luv this tank. I will be copy cating your live stock some on my new build. Lol
Thanks, and cool great to be some inspiration :) cheers!
Subscribed!
happy new years
Thanks, the same to you!
Thank you, I look forward to your charming manner and approach to reef keeping every Friday here in California. Do you have any experience with anemones and recommendations for aquarium reef keepers who incorporate these in their displays. Maybe a future Friday topic?
Best to you
Hi Mike, thanks for the positive feedback! I have limited experience with anemones, I previously had some but they were kind of unpredictable since they *can* move and destroy other corals on their way. If you're running a FOWLR tank then anemones are definitely the best corals to keep!
Amazing!
Hi Dutch Reefer,
Nice tank. Dutch myself and starting to plan my own tank. So having a million questions for you but first let me go through more of your FF's. 2 questions I do have.
That's both having to do with planning. 1, what are your plans for 2019 in your tank, your doing any research on any fish at the moment? 2, did hear you mentioning about 2 of your fish that for now they are not to big yet for your tank but know they still grow and maybe outgrow your tank. Having a size in your head what the max you can keep?
I'm not focussed on any new fish at the moment, and the new tank is dependent on if we're going to keep living here or move houses, not sure yet! I'm looking for a 700-800L tank next, small steps :)
Thanks for sharing. Beautiful aquascape. Are you happy with the tank? Im thinking about getting one.
Thanks David! And yeah definitely, it's an amazing tank!
Great update, thanks. Are you still happy with the Aurora light? How often do you have to change the T5 Coral Plus bulbs?
Hi John! Yeah I'm still very happy with this light, I'm changing the lights every 12 months now
Very helpful, thank you. What size VarioS are you using for return pump?
Im using a Jecod DCP8000 with 20mm tubing!
@@DutchReefer Thanks
Impressive tank..
What about the regal angel...
My pet store has a regal angel which is eating flakes so I am thinking to try....haven you got any problems with your corals as I have zoas and a lot of recordeas.
Thank you George! If your LFS has one that eats flakes then I'd buy it in a heartbeat. They will only harm your corals seriously if they don't accept replacement food. If they eat flakes and meaty food, the damage to your corals will probably be limited to none. No guarantees of course ;-) and I don't have any problems with it nipping at corals so far, luckily!
Thanks for the videos, I’ve learned a good bit 👍🏾!
What is the name of the food that you feed your fish?
You're welcome Otis, thanks for watching! The food is called "Masstick" by a company called Easyreefs
try the skimz algae reactor. I read great things for ppl with the red sea sumps without separate refugiums. they are clean install and don't have the refug light causing unwanted algae growth all over the sump area.
Thanks Marcus, I have been eyeing that one as well... But somehow I can't understand why all of a sudden it would start to die, where it has grown tremendously for about 6 months...
Beautiful reefer, is that Sulfur pearls in that small container?
Thanks! No these are bacteria balls by Colombo
Just a great tank. Was the Christmas present coral an elegance coral?
Thanks! Yeah indeed it is :)
One more question. It doesn't appear you have a large scaffold of live rock. How did you build the structure upon which the corals are growing? Is it live rock, dead coral, both? Thanks.
It's mainly Real Reef Rock and indeed I don't have that much so it's hard fitting in all coral haha!
Hey Dutch I was out of the loop for a little bit but noticed your foxface hasn't been around for a while. Did you have to rehome him? Did he grow too large or start eating corals?
Ahoy Captain! Indeed it had to move to another tank since it was becoming too bulky for mine. Luckily this one didn't eat any coral at all, my previous two did!
@@DutchReefer Ah yes, sad to see such a beautiful fish go but I'm glad he didn't do any damage and was able to go on to a more comfortable home. Mine's still a little guy so hopefully I'll get a while longer out of him before he turns into a behemoth
How much rowaphos you put into your reactor please? and is this ok to use with nopox as some say can have a bad reaction when used with phosphate remover
I've put about 5cm from the bottom up, so about 1/3 of a large can. For me it has been working great combined with nopox, but it will remove po4 fast of course so be careful not to strip it to zero too fast :)
thanks for reply and love your vids
Nice video as always. Was that a Coralbox dosing pump I saw? If so, how well do you like it? That is one of the one's I am looking at.
Hi Dan, yeah that's a Coralbox indeed. It's doing okay but I would't recommend it. Although the app and the way you set it up is working very well, the consistency of the pump heads is not that great for me... I'd look for a Pacific Sun Kore 5th if I were you, I might as well :)
Best wishes also for you! 2 questions, brand of UV please? and what is the little container with yellow pearls? .thanks.
Thanks Danny! I'm using a JBL AquaCristal 36w!
En de kleine gele bolletjes? is dat een nitraat blokker ? Ik gebruik zelf Aquatic Nature maar dit lijkt me iets anders....
www.jbl.de/en/products/detail/7410/jbl-procristal-uv-c-36w duidelijk model aangepast
How it's size for your aquarium?? Hight, width , length??
It's a Red Sea Reefer 525, about 150cm wide, 55cm high and 55cm long
what's the green coral growing on the back left wall?
That's a green star polyp!
👌👌💪 ziet er goed uit
what size tank is yours????????
That's a red sea reefer 525, 150cm x 55cm x 55cm
@@DutchReefer ok thank you
Eeeh pik je mag echt trots zijn op jouw aquarium man ga zo door ✌ ✌ ✌
Thanks kerel :)
@@DutchReefer geen probleem ✌
My hippo tang started eating my zoanthids:( when he got big
Ouch, that sucks! Out of stress or just random?
Dutch Reefer just random. I had him for 5-6 years and he never went after any coral.
