Did a FCU on a JT9 last night. Terrible job. This looks waaaaaaaaay easier. Thanks GE! The CF6 is superior to the JT9 and PW4000 anyway

Good job. Is FADEC and HMU same thing?
    Thanks.

@@alimohammedhaider6611 Thanks for your kind reply. So than what is HMU (Hydro mechanical unit) and what is it's application?
Thanks for sparing your valuable time.

@@cck1496 I’m sorry, my entire answer didn’t get posted.
Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) is a collective term for both the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) as well as the Hydromechanical Unit (HMU). The HMU traditionally functioned to regulate the fuel supplied to the combustion chamber depending on a limited number of parameters, however the integration of EEC paved way for more precise metering of fuel for combustion depending on an increased number of parameters.
The EEC receives input from numerous sensors monitoring parameters such as N1, N2, temperatures at various engine locations as well as air pressure. The EEC has two channels each operating with their own sensors for redundancy. These analogue parameters are received by the EEC as electrical input, depending on which, an Electrical Hydraulic Servo Valve (EHSV) actuates a Fuel Metering Valve (FMV) which regulates fuel supplied to the combustion chamber.
In a FADEC architecture, the EEC would also schedule more precisely the actuation of Variable Bleed Valves (VBVs) and the Inlet Guide Vanes (IGVs).
To summarise, FADEC includes both 1) Electronic Engine Control (EEC) and 2) Hydromechanical Unit (HMU) whereas while the Hydromechanical unit itself functions similarly, it is a lot less accurate.
