IMO, this game is PERFECT for the 4-6 year old age range as a starter game. For kids in the 6-8 range with some gaming experience (and I have two of those), the game wasn't as big of a hit. The components are awesome so everyone enjoyed playing the game the first couple of times just because it was so fun to handle the pieces, but it hasn't hit our table since then. The game is really light. And the whole thing comes down to memorization. Memorize where about 3 or 4 key tiles are, and you can pretty much boss the game. Amongst other things, this means that you cannot play this game to win as an adult. You pretty much have to purposefully not pick the right forest tile on your turn, or otherwise mod the game to make it harder (I'd cover my eyes whenever my kids swapped the forest tiles). I personally prefer kids games with a little bit more of a luck/strategy balance so that I can try hard and still not win every time. As between this and Catan Junior, I think Catan Junior is a much stronger game for 6-8 year olds that shares the same concepts of resource collection and resource trading but has a lot more game to it. If anything, I would use My First Stone Age as a gateway for really young kids to prep them for the superior experience of Catan Junior. Just my .02.

I wonder how it compares to Catan Junior which has a lot of the same concepts and similar audience.

Would be helpful to mention the age of the kids who enjoyed it, and their gaming experience. Thanks!

I think they meant what are the ages of Tom's kids, since he talks about how they enjoyed it.

I don't have two different seals for Kid's games at this point.

Oh okay. :) You could maybe have a separate/different stamp for kids? I genuinely think that's a market that deserves love.

stone age was too much simple and the most overrated game

Why is making a game that I can play with my 4 year old insane?
