Mad respect for opening up. I'm a daddyless daughter. My dad left around 9/10. I searched for him for most of my adult life. I found out he died and it still affected me. I'll never get answers to my questions, but I'm fine with it because I know I did everything I could to find him.

I got immense respect for Brother Omar Epps; he is a maverick actor. However- his book about fatherhood and discourse is salient in the current epoch we reside. The urban inner city does not advocate fatherhood neither marriage. Thus- leaving young men to the streets, friends, rap music, and movies as a bad or good influence on not having a father. And- the immaturity, rage, bad decisions are the adverse affects of not having a father. I had a father whom I lived with. We had a tumultuous rocky relationship. As I got older, I forgave and respect him. I understood my father as I matured and evolved. And- looked to God to heal those inner hurt and wounds that He can only heal.

I understand no one is perfect in life but was trying to be a great grandfather then he was father to his kids. He made his son into great father with him not being in our lives

Actually, I think my dad did me a big favor by staying in the background. He had some demons like heroin addiction. We did get a chance to discuss it. I told him that he did me a big favor , and he acknowledged how I always treated him with respect. He came into some money and sent word out that he wanted to give me some.. I didn’t want a dime from him. I just hugged my Daddy..

I have always very held a high regard towards Omar Epps work as an actor and it later extended into him as an overall person, this just raises the bar of respect that much higher. Regardless of anyone's opinion there is no excuse for a parent to help create child/children and not be involved in their lives/upbringing. There are many scenarios of how two parents get to the point of one or both being absent, but in all of them the children are the innocent ones because they do not ask to be brought into this world.

  • @ufsland
    @ufsland 6 років тому +1

This is dope to as black men it is very important for us to be around our children. However its important to appreciate our mothers. In Islam a mother is not 1 or twice but three times more important than a father. For me I was a brought up by my sister and am telling you it is the hardest thing ever because a mother or a father looking after their child is just different that maternal connection makes a parent pay more attention to your education, upbringing and just care more. Although my sister did her best but no way near the same. I always notice it with my friends who came from a two parent home it made a lot of difference to how they turned out to just having that one person who is just their for you. Its just hard to explain unless you been their. So ppl appreciate that one parent you have. Peace

Did Omar say, "we rationalize our traumas to maintain sanity?" That is it: people with or without both parents must account for how we allow society to brand our success or lack thereof. Like Sway said - it is a LOVE ISSUE.

True about the slavery, I can't call no one a hater, just on comments alone, there is more to it, now, 50 plus years, and other factors, give me great joy to read the comments, yet, ignore the emotional impact on us all. Most folks can't tell you what 5 countries slaves came from, without using Google. I was bless, my mom (R.I.P) had strong men around me, my dad never really left ( R.I.P). We need to stop attacking each other men and women and think about our future. Nuff said.

It is the complete opposite in the African community
Our black men stay in the lives of their kids
They raise them to be Good people and valuable to the society
A child should be your pride and joy
I love my Dad and he was there every single day till he passed away
He instilled confidence in me and I emulated a lot of his behavior kindness ambition and love
He was educated and I knew I wanted to be a professional just like him and even get more advanced degrees
Black AMERICAN GUYS PLEASE STOP LEAVING YOUR KIDS
    love THEM AND GUIDE THEM
I believe mass incarceration for blacks will reduce if women stop having kids of of wedlock and the men stay and raise the kids they have.

Malika Zaiahna Your assumtion says that the legal system benefits fathers involvement let alone actually is a remedy for mothers treating children as possessions. The influence beyond the fragmented weak standards of what ppl believe or define as fatherhood and what a fathers own intentions are in theyre childrens lives are two different things. Im a single father who didnt have one.
