I really want the show to somehow get the "if they had only met sooner" bit right... Had Alina shown up sooner there would have been a chance to save him, he would have still been more Aleksander than The Darkling. They are literally soulmates who met too late and the utter tragedy of that... 💔 At the same time I just want it to not be too late, God damn it Ben Barnes and your perfect face and brilliant acting. I'd love a redemption arc for him. Since him and Alina will probably be the only ones to outlive everyone else, it would make sense to become allies eventually. They both just have to grow to want the same thing

@@Root7m thank you, I try honestly. And I feel like this is one of the best if not the best character I have ever read, and an arc would be, or will be, fantastic. You never really see it happening in any books and people just assume a villain is just bad without any depth and contrast. This is really interesting with the books and the show in comparison.

Maybe not impossible since it sounds like they've already improved on Mal and Alexander so much, in terms of their attitudes toward Alina. Obvs Alexander still does a lot of messed up things to Alina but their relationship before all that was way more equal in the show than what I've heard of the books, her kissing him etc

He gives so many nuances to Aleksander that I no longer see him as the villain of the novel. He has become more than that.
