I had never listened to Drake before this season and I'm not a B12 fan, but his takes are great. I love how he rips on the SEC and the selection committee.
My message to the SEC who are supporting Alabama is...If BYU would lose to Alabama, then what is the point in playing the game? Such a perspective negates the idea of even playing and allowing the brutality on the athletes. Why not just look at the preseason rankings and call the national championship without a single game played? Incidentally, how many preseason ranked teams have been replaced by unranked teams? So much for the theories and narratives the SEC and B1G are presenting!
The committee needs to first look at how many bids each league should get before deciding on specific teams. The Big Ten/SEC aren’t superior to the Big 12/ACC to a degree that merits a 4:1 berth margin. 3.5:2 seems about right. And yeah, the conference title game needs to go if we’re targeting multiple bids. Declare a champ based on the regular season and hold a play-in game for the final spot-way more interest in that.
I know this will be treasonous, especially coming from a BYU fan, but I do think it should make at least some difference when the losses occur, because that helps predict how a team will do in the CFP. BYU is simply not the same team they were at the first of the year, and I think that’s obvious to everyone, including the CFP. This is actually quite typical of what happens to BYU in November because of our lack of depth. It’s much better than last year, but obviously not good enough. I hope we have a similar jump in depth next year, because we need to be playing our best football in November (like Kansas and Baylor), not limping to a win against Houston. I honestly think BYU would lose in the tournament but if they actually won they’d be killed in the CFP without the first round bye Boise is likely to take from us. Ohio State, for example, would beat BYU by at least two touchdowns if we played them now. I’m just hoping for a nice mediocre to good team (not Colorado!) that will allow us to possibly go 11-2, a MUCH better outcome than even anyone at BYU predicted. A bowl game gives us a chance to heal up a little and give someone a good game.
With having to cut the roster size down I think every team will loose depth. It’s going to be hard to fill in gaps in the transfer portal when you have to cut the number of players.
Why are you comparing a MWC, a G5 Conference, going head to head, with the Big 12, a P4 Conference? Compare the Big 12 with Other P4 Conferences. The fact of the matter this year the Big 12 had their chances and fell on their faces.
If you can't see the SEC getting 6-7 teams in the near future I don't know what to tell you. They already dropped the seed last year when they were talking 4 teams from the SEC each year and maybe 4 from the Big 10. Though the Big 10 is weak. Alabama is getting in on name recognition and reputation only. Also people have been conditioned to the SEC.
CFP should prioritize actually having representation... like march madness. 8 teams that make p4 championship games are auto bids. 9th auto is G5 highest ranked team. 3 remaining are at large and don't care where they come from. Once 12 teams set rank regardless of conference affiliation and then play the games. Tie breaker doesn't go your way then next year win one more game or hope you get one of 3 at large. Notre Dame hope you are one of 3 at large or hey go get in a conference.
Seems to me like the SEC and Big 10 want to be so big they can avoid the hard teams as much as possible. NCAA should make a rule making conferences capped at 8 teams. At the 8th week the season goes into a double or triple elimination playoff. re-seed each week. Everyone plays 12 games those final 4 determine strength of schedule. Because everyone is playing out of Conference games we can easily determine strength of schedule. From there you can have a truer field of 12 or 16. And FCS games?? FBS has no business playing those if they want into the CFP. What we have now is 3 loss teams thinking they are playoff worthy in the first place. Sure if you have 0 FCS teams on your schedule. As fans we need to require more from this system. Like to see schools call out other schools and challenge them to "prove it" . Leave late season dates for that stuff. No one should be left out because they didn't get to play anyone and NO ONE should be in because they didn't Have to play anyone. As a fan I like that in college they play for some thing besides money. That to me is why the NFL sucks. College is a limited time and that makes it special.
Which teams did the B1G avoid? We play 9 conference games. PSU smoked WVU. Illinois beat Kansas. Nebraska smoked Colorado. Iowa won 3.5 quarters against Iowa State before choking.
People need to remember that the system was created for the SEC and that is the world that we live in. All other conferences are not as good as the SEC.
I agree with your first point. Strongly throw up in my mouth on your second point. The SEC carrying the title of the “king of college football” is a ridiculous theology that needs to be burned and buried. This isn’t a monarchy. You don’t get to just inherit a royal title because of which family you belong to.
So, you're advocating for the team that didn't even make the title game over whichever team loses? Mercer wouldn't have helped BYU. Come on now. A good loss to a top 15 team would hold more weight than a win over a weak team if the SEC did that. We all know early season games don't hold as much weight. That's almost every sport ranking system. We're talking about a difference of 2 and 3 losses not 2 and 4 losses. There are some G5 teams that could compete in B12. Two of the teams used to be in the G5 not long ago. Maybe you should push for more spots to be guaranteed for P4 teams
@lunchplateboy I understand that They're crying about Big 12 teams bot getting what they think they should get. I understand that you can go go somewhere else now
What? Nebraska blew out Colorado who Drake wants to be the Big 12 playoff contender. I'm more than happy to put team for team of the B1G against the Big 12 since Minnesota would be playoff eligible in the Big 12.

Drake is the best!

Alabama is there because of name and tradition. The loss to Oklahoma and scoring only 3 points doesn’t matter to the commitee
Get rid of conference championship games and expand playoffs

The SEC is royalty. It doesn't matter if BYU is actually better or good or not... College football is Feudal.

The BIG-12 had their chances? What are we talking about exactly?
Your arguments are good, but nobody is talking about the fact that Georgia and Alabama have 8 home games... not 6 like everyone else.
Alabama got blown out by a 6-6 team!!!! These SEC teams are not invincible this season, that has been very apparent…
If you can't see the SEC getting 6-7 teams in the near future I don't know what to tell you. They already dropped the seed last year when they were talking 4 teams from the SEC each year and maybe 4 from the Big 10. Though the Big 10 is weak.

College football shouldn't be controversial. Separate the nation into 8 regions that all have a champion that competes in a final end of year CFP.

It’s all about money, like pretty much everything else in America.
Which teams did the B1G avoid? We play 9 conference games. PSU smoked WVU. Illinois beat Kansas. Nebraska smoked Colorado. Iowa won 3.5 quarters against Iowa State before choking.
How they avoiding hard teams by being big
I told you if BYU lost even one game they would not be in.
Give BYU and Colorado any SEC teams in bowling-they will find out.
I'd love to shut up the fucking SEC
People need to remember that the system was created for the SEC and that is the world that we live in. All other conferences are not as good as the SEC.

Boise State looking at the CFB playoff field like "Im yer Huckleberry" "thats just my game" 💯
Kalani
Drake = Locked On BYU, not Big 12. Nauseating. Waiting for the day when he can get thru a video without mentioning BYU. Not holding my breath.

You obviously aren’t paying enough attention to this league to understand what they’re talking about.
@lunchplateboy I understand that They're crying about Big 12 teams bot getting what they think they should get. I understand that you can go go somewhere else now
@@SonicBoomC98 That’s a five year old’s interpretation of what’s being discussed I suppose. I think you just proved my point.
Quality losses help in basketball, but in football it doesn't help you that much.
What? Nebraska blew out Colorado who Drake wants to be the Big 12 playoff contender. I'm more than happy to put team for team of the B1G against the Big 12 since Minnesota would be playoff eligible in the Big 12.
Drake needs to get off this byu high horse. They only have 1 decent win, their schedule was junk period.
Be real.. its not a great conference. BYU does not deserve a shot and they are not playing well. I would love 2 teams in but it will never be more.
I know this will be treasonous, especially coming from a BYU fan, but I do think it should make at least some difference when the losses occur, because that helps predict how a team will do in the CFP.
