Now you're talking my style. Ive always stuck with the martha stewart recipe that involves 4 bottles of liquor (for a party supposedly) but I'm super excited for a new recipe!! Most others never taste right the way they have you prep it
If you can find a higher proof coconut rum, use that! I find the Malibu flavor a little subdued, but the cream of coconut helped! It certainly is delicious! Cheers!
@@RobsHomeBar, I hope you get an opportunity. I don't typically buy flavored spirits, but I enjoy this one. It still tastes like rum, but has enough coconut flavor to boost any coconut or other tropical flavors that are in a cocktail.
Definitely! I can’t get that one here yet! I do a shipwreck coconut rum which is much better quality than Malibu.. but that one is also hard to find and didn’t wanna waste it for this 😜
Aging it helps deepen the flavor and the alcohol mellows a bit. It becomes richer and creamier. As for shelf life, there’s enough alcohol and sugar to help preserve it! As long as it’s refrigerated, it should last indefinitely! I have a 2 year old bottle in my fridge 😜
Been using AB's recipe for several years. One time we aged it for a year! Love these flavor additions. Will give it a try.
I tried the 1 year old last year! Still got it! Gonna try 2 year old this year (video coming soon! 😜)

I’ve made this recipe several years in a row now (just the classic, not the flavored versions) …it’s really good!
I already love the classic, but that coconut variant sounds like it would be right up my alley.

@@RobsHomeBar, I'm thinking Planteray Cut & Dry. It's 40% ABV, and I prefer its more natural-tasting coconut flavor over Malibu.
@@TimBakeryea that would be perfect! I can’t get it here yet :(

Now that is using your NOGin Rob 🧠 🥛
🤣🤣
You could use Planterey Cut & Dry for the coconut one - that would be nice, I think...

never had egg nog but honestly it looks pretty good, whats the purpose of aging it though, also do the eggs not go bad then considering their raw ?

I wonder if you would have been better off with Shipwrecked Coconut and maybe skip the OFTD. They all sound fun either way.
Probably but my shipwreck is low and didn’t wanna use it up for this 🤪
