QUESTION: I have the DT990 Pro 250 Ohm version and the 600 Ohm versions. At some point they both started to crackle on high bass. Would that likely still be the case if I upgrade to a DT 1990? I also have the Sennheiser 660s and the T1 2nd Gen in mind. Or should I be looking at something else altogether? My budget is $1000. Oh…and I’m buying this primarily for action and sci-fi movies. Thanks!!

How deep are the earcups? I have big ears and headphones always press on my ears and make them uncomfortable after an hour or two. Compared to like the HD6xx or something are they comparatively shallow or deep?

Do you run your HD800S on this port or balanced ? thanks. :) Also you should try the Amiron Home and compare them. They easily win on comfort, the 1990s are too clampy for long sessions. And did you see the recently announced Audeze LCD-GX ?
I run my hd800s on my loxjie. It has more than enough juice to run the dt1990s on the single end port as well. I haven't seen those yet I need to check them out :) I really want to pick up the hd820s though.. I heard them in person ad was blown away

Yeah, they are better than the 6xx, the dt1990 pros are comparable to the hd660s from senheiser, basically the upgraded 6xx. They retail for $500 you can find them on amazon for $350-$375 range
Different sound signature. These are much brighter. I had them and sold them due to the highs/sound signature. I had the hd660s as well and returned them. Didn't think they were better than the hd650. I love my hd650s and the darker sound. And its all preference but I do not think dt1990s are close to the same level as the hd800S. I feel these have artificial detail of that makes sense. They're ok but I think they're hyped a little. But it's all preference in audio. Try them and try others. If you like them great! If not then sell or return them.
i found a pair certified renewed on amazon for 480 dollars. they have a few pairs i think if you don’t mind them being sent back and tested/ repaired to sound like new.

LG 34GK950F-B is the monitor I'm using it's the best ultrawide out for gaming currently. My desk is a ikea karlby + 2 alex drawers I'm going to be changing this out this weekend for an uplift v2 sit stand desk

These are good upgrade from them. If you're just starting out the 6xx will last you for awhile then upgrade to these later
