I grew up obsessed with this movie as a kid! My boy Kenan Thompson was what made me pickup the VCR tape at my local video store at VideoEzy. I like to think Tony Perkis and White Goodman from Globo Gym in Dodgeball are the same person, as they’re both psychotic trainers played by Ben Stiller. RIP Jerry Stiller. .
As a fat 90s kid, Heavyweights genuinely felt like a movie "for me" when it came out. I loved it and still do to this day. Tony taught me to not be an ass about it after I worked off the weight and the kids taught me the importance of standing up to injustice (even, or especially, when it's terrifying). It may barely be a footnote in Ben's career, but it was formative for a lot of us at the time.
yeah the scenes like the sliding scene on those slippery boards was funny "Stride, stride, stride, stride. hey get ur big butt off the ground" Lars: "i'm feeling skinny tony" Tony: "SO AM I."
Worked on "Heavyweights " and am friends with Mickey M--can vouch he's an incredible guy and Ben is fortunate to know him! It was one of those shows where you kind of knew no one would get it...but those that did, will and the rest can just figure it out. Get these salamis off my back.
that's awesome, seeing the movie as a kid i wanted to actually go to that camp cause i thought it was all real, i wanted to do the GoCart races and the blob but my folks couldnt find it cause well it was the 90s and the internet wasn't around just yet. What would you say was some of the challenging things they did or tried to do? the one thing that freaked me out in the movie back then was when Tony jumped off the ledge onto the long piece of wood during their 20 mile hike halfway towards the end and i was worried that down tree was going to snap
i think one of the greatest sort of call backs he did is reference the lighting fixture king in starksy and hutch. one of his best roles was in heavy weights, to this day my group still quotes the movie.
A friends parent forced us to watch this during a sleep over in the 90s. We all thought it looked like it was for little kids and thought it would suck. Of course we thought it was hilarious and still quote it to one another to this day! Total classic!
4 characters I know of Ben Stiller are Tony Perkis, Tony Perkis Sr, Hal L & Greg Focker. I'd have to say that Ben Stiller did an excellent job playing the douchebag (but still likeable) characters Tony Perkis & Hal L.
I've always wanted to hear Ben Stiller discuss Tony Perkis. This is great!
his best work
I think dodgeball character was based off Tony lol

I wish he would have immediately thrown out a line. “Now I eat success for breakfast... with skim milk”
The best and most underrated 90s kids movie
He kind of based a bunch of his future characters off Perkis in one way or another.
The movie Dodgeball for example?
Shout out to Hendersonville, NC!
oh look!
a deli meat!
Tony perkis and white Goodman the same guy
to me the 80s and 90s kids movies were the best, 90s being my era.
Was Tony Perkis based off of Tony Little or Richard Simmons?
Neither to my knowledge.
Haha I’m glad they made this movie 😂 it’s so funny/good
Super underrated movie, he should be more proud of it
ClASSIC Character !!!!!
Skinny weiners? You hear that, guys?
