You didn't mention the Chicago Stadium the original Madhouse on Madison. That was a really cool old building and had a lot of history. It was where MJ won his first 3 championships, it housed the Blackhawks and 3 Stanley Cup championship teams. It also hosted the first indoor NFL game back in the early 1930s. Its now a parking lot for the building that replaced it the United Center.

There's one arena left out, the veteran's memorial Coliseum. It was the Portland Trail Blazers' arena from 1970 to 1995. The blazers reached the finals three times in that arena, winning it once. It's kind of an important arena to leave out. It's still standing right next to the rose garden where a major junior league hockey team uses it.

Highly interesting video. The one thing I would disagree with is the characterization of the Palace of Auburn Hills as obsolete. It had the highest seating capacity in the league and contained many luxury boxes and high end amenities. Tom Gores gave up a nice home for the Pistons in exchange for being the junior partner to the Red Wings in a smaller, taxpayer subsidized building in a declining city with an income tax that neither him nor his family lives in. On the bright side, the former site of the Palace has been transformed into other productive use relatively quickly compared to many other arenas in this video.

They just kept throwing tax dollars at it to renovate it, most of which went to improving the outer facade and not the insides, which felt like sitting in a huge basement. The design had the majority of the seats in the upper bowl and you always felt crowded. There was some charm to it, I guess, but it was beyond antiquated.

Also left out, the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City where the Jazz played from 1979-1991. The arena was demolished in 1994 after the team moved to the newly built Delta Center, but the original site of the arena is still used as a convention center.
It was also home to the Utah Stars of the ABA from 1970-1975 and the Salt Lake Golden Eagles minor league hockey team from 1969-1991.

I'm not sure if you mentioned this one, but the Indiana Farmers Coliseum, formerly used by the Indiana Pacers from 1967-1974, is currently used by the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) Jaguars of the Horizon League, and is now the current venue for the Horizon League Men's and Women's Basketball Championships, as of 2020.
Edit* Also one of the venues of the First and Second rounds of the 2021 NCAA Division 1 Mens Basketball Tournament

Jeff Bezos is definitely the kind of guy who buys an arena and would name it that just so dumb and lazy people don't think too hard about his company's true motivations. Trust me, it's the one thing people on both sides can agree on hating.

Charlotte Coliseum was actually a noteworthy arena in its first few years. It was the largest NBA Arena for a number of years and had a reputation for being lit. Charlotte Coliseum had a lengthy sellout streak for Hornets games which considering its almost 24,000 initial seating capacity is no small feat.

Another interesting tidbit about the Coliseum is that the overhead scoreboard crashed to the floor the morning of a game between the US Olympic team and some NBA stars.

Probably could have mentioned the Piston's other homes; the Silverdome and before that Cobo Arena. We all know about the Silverdome's fate. There's currently an Amazon warehouse on the property. Cobo Arena continued for years to be a home for U of D Mercy Bball and was a famous concert venue. (Bob Seger's Live Bullet was recorded there) Several years ago the building was gutted and was converted to more convention space for the adjoining Cobo Hall. (Recently renamed TCF center and then Huntington Place after Huntington bank bought TCF bank)

All I know is, the old arenas had WAY better names that sounded cooler than all of the company sponsored names today. Also, the old arenas not only had a personal and intimate feel with the game, but they held a ton of seats, yet, were relatively small buildings. Unlike the ones today that feel so cavernous and disconnected at times.
