Dont know when this will get completed. Really ambitious and challenging project. So many places it is very difficult to widen to 4 lane because of the terrain. Just my opinion, instead of converting the road to 4 lane, a widening of the existing 2 lane road would have been better, like the road from Padubidri to Karkala.
You are right Mukunda Madhava. Padubidre Karkala road is very nice, except too many unscientific speed breakers! Recently after several complaints 75% such rumblers removed. That way you are right. But the Highway Authorities and PWD have their own minimum standards and plans for SHs & NHs.. 😅
Converting a single lane to a 2 lane is a good option but with the increasing traffic mainly in this highway, it’s difficult to overtake in some stretches due to slow moving traffic and the express buses never give a way to other vehicles. For example if you see the Hubli Dharwad bypass it’s a 2 lane but due to increasing traffic its become a dangerous stretch due to slow moving traffic and rash drivers but now it’s getting updated to six lane to avoid the chaos. If these guys followed something like what was done in Karkala bypass road reducing the divider length with 4 lane road that will be great.
Only in DK and Udupi roads will not happen and struggle continues. Rest of Karnataka has good highways. Unfortunate
Yes! You are 💯% correct Mr Shrikanth!! 👍
