    I always focus on the flooring first…. But the Wall being exactly 90* perpendicular is most important for the shower door install!! I learned that this hard way!!

    I have tore out so many of those type of pans. In the middle of doing a condo. Showers stacked each one leaking into next unit. Who ever did it initially used the shower drain for a fiberglass base.

    Greetings all.
    Would it not be better to place shower pan membrane first, banding next then corners?
    Like you did the Ditra

    How would you prep a curbless shower transition for LFT’s outside the shower and smaller mosaic tiles inside the shower on the floor?

    What if the floor outside the shower isn’t level? For example in a basement with concrete? Self level outside the shower area?

    Seems tricky to get the drain height proper, but you made it look simple. I guess with pluming in place could be a bit trickier.

      1/4" per foot based on the longest point from drain center. That number is the distance below the floor the drain is set.

  • @Robert-ex2qp

    Removing that much of the Joist could cause problems. I saw a method to use a linear drain in place of the curb and pitch the the base towards the shower opening. This way you don't remove any subfloor or trim the joists. I had concerns about that but if installed correctly it avoids a lot of structural problems or other mechanicals underneath interference.
    Sal, you have done everything and love all your videos, have you ever done it this way?

    So thinset can be applied to LATICRETE HYDRO BAN ADHESIVE AND SEALANT?

  • @snoodle877
    @snoodle877 2 роки тому

    Awesome! I’m putting in hydroban walls and Laticrete pre-sloped linear drain pan (would have the drain on the far right in the shower you just showed). Question: is Laticrete adhesive sufficient, like Laticrete indicate for the pan/wall interface or would you still band or use hydroban liquid membrane on those joints?

      He uses mapie 4to1, lots on manufactures make there own. Quickrete and sakrete sand mix 60lbs bags works too. Just mix sand in the mix to make it 4 to1. Half a 50lbs bag of sand to every 60lbs bag of topping mix.

    How would you do a curbless if the foundation is a slab, I-beams or trusses?

    • @hereticxxx9317
      @hereticxxx9317 2 роки тому

      Depending on concrete thickness and type of poor, you can cut groove and bust them out. I beam and truss use foam pan made for that. You cant alter trusses and I beams, best you can do is drop the floor 3/4". Unless you get a engineer and GC to do it for you.

    Hi, Sal! Is there a reason why you choose Hydro ban board but the Schleuter products for the rest? Just curious.

      Right now kerdi is hard to find

    • @bryanmoorhead4615
      @bryanmoorhead4615 2 роки тому

      Although shleuter is a great product, the hydrban boards tend to be more stiff with less flexibility or squishyness which tends to be better for tile install as for the uncoupling membrane between schluter or other brands I haven't seen a huge difference. Also brands like schleuter and others will normally not warranty any of the installs if you don't use all of their products. At the end of the day availability plays a huge factor as no one wants to wait months to get the job done so we do what we can.

    • @SalDiBlasi

      Flood test depends on your local codes, not needed in my area, but I flood test every shower. For a curbless shower you have to construct a temporary barrier of some kind.
