never could figure how they can add 500lbs and its a "supercar" race. If your supercar is heavier or lower on horsepower, pound salt, that is on the mfg. " Proved to be the supercar today". How can someone say that when it was weighted race?
Exactly. The ZR-1 Ruled! Without the extra 500 lbs, the brakes and tires wouldn't have faded as much and the Firehawk would never have gotten that close to Kim. Long Line the Legend ... ^v^
@@rapid13 the LT4 was way underrated on horsepower. They were more like 360 to 385 hp. Chevrolet was coming out with the LS engine and 1997 supposedly pushing 350 hp so they didn’t want to kill the hype on that. That’s why they underrated the LT4. They didn’t want to hurt the sales of the new LS engine.
Great, Corvette C4 has a racing pedigree, it was very successful across a wide field of racing and classes. Also those American consulted GTPs, while not necessarily attractive to look at, were very capable performing cars.
may have been uploaded for the ZR1 community, but this Consulier guy thanks you for your effort.
You're welcome
They were trying to make it more competitive for the competition against the ZR1. Adding weight was so unfair for the ZR1!!!!
F***ing good old days!
What a great race! good motivation for the zr-1 community. +500lbs, Thanks Lee
Thanks for uploading. Its so cool to see the zr-1 vs the firehawk what a battle
ZR-1 and Firehawk in the same race?? EPIC!!!!
Awesome To See a S.L.P. Firehawk On The Track Against Actual Competition!!!
Very cool! Thanks for the upload!
They got you shiftin' out of fourth, shovin' into overdrive!
That's a lot of extra weight!
Trying putting a 500 lb person in your front seat and see how it handles.

Weird how the Z was so heavy.
The ZR-1 was about 3460lbs stock, IMSA added 500lbs to the weight in order to slow it down, and it also lost braking advantages
@@LTG1930 Thanks for the response! It'll be interesting to see how my 92 zr-1 compares to my 96 lt4.
@@brandonherrera2891 Were you able to compare the two yet?
I love the LT4. Underrated from the factory. Closer to 360 HP.
@@andydhillon1977 Only some got the updated HP. Most did not.

3900lbs 450hp car vs 2000lbs 225hp car would be both extreme ends of almost exactly the same power to weight ratio.
Not so equal on braking was the issue...
what motor in red 98 car ?
Likely a TPI with the SLP intake
are those Ford gt's?
No those are Consulier GTP cars,

What year was this? Anyone know?
1991
How sad, the aspect ratio is wrong.
