I've been living in Armenia for 2 years now, and I gotta say I f-ing love Vardavar! There's something so pure and unadulterated about this pagan rooted tradition that you can't help but smile =)
you look like this, but you want to visit this country on the same holiday, incredibly fun and cool, especially on this hot day :) hello from the USA to Armenia 🇺🇲❤🇦🇲
Hi Patil, I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to post videos from Armenia and answering questions from the audience. The best part of all this is that individuals like you inspire other diasporan Armenians to visit Armenia and volunteer their time there. Once again, I appreciate your efforts and I can't wait to bring my daughter to Armenia.
Patil, was this your first Vardavar experience? Also, I thought they didn't drench people when they were holding their phone, guess it's only when they're actually talking on it. I kept laughing when you said drained instead of drenched! Subconsciously, I think you wished that the water would just drain off of you lol 😂 Great video, really captured the experience! Next time though body cam (hands free) lol so you can take part and shower the people with the same "kindness" 💦🔫
Hahahahhahahahahhahah omg the same kindness 😂😂😂 this was my second 🙈 I think because they saw my phone had the protection they went for it 😂😂 but yes otherwise they usually respect it if you have your phone or food in your hands and they don’t “drain” you 😂😂😂
Evangelists St. Matthew, St. Mark and St. Luke testify about the transfiguration of Jesus in the Gospels (Matthew 17:1-13; Mark 9:1-12, Luke 9:28-36). “… As they looked on, a change came over Jesus: his face was shining like the sun and his clothes were dazzling white. Then the three disciples saw Moses and Elijah talking with Jesus. So Peter spoke up and said to Jesus, “Lord, how good it is that we are here! If you wish I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” While he was talking, a shining cloud came over them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my own dear Son, with whom I am pleased - listen to him!” When the disciples heard the voice, they were so terrified that they threw themselves face downward on the ground. Jesus came to them and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid!” So they looked up and saw no one there but Jesus. (Matthew 17:2-8) In the Armenian Church, the Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord Jesus Christ is celebrated 98 days following Easter. The Feast also is known by the common name of “Vardavar”. This day is associated with an old Armenian tradition of pouring water on one another. Some sources attribute the tradition as a remnant of an Armenian pre-Christian celebration.
19:26 Why do we have so many loan words in Eastern Armenian from Arabic and Persian, but the word Yalla isn't one of them? we should implement it, it's too important of a word not to have :P
