This has helped me understand an underlying theme in a science fiction novel of the same name: Echopraxia.

For me, as an autistic, it only happens when I'm around other people with autism. But I don't physically mimic their behaviors. It's instead a feeling that I get. At random points, I will start feeling like I am walking like an autistic friend of mine, but I'm not actually, cause it's a feeling I get. I get this more often with people's facial features. At times, I will feel another person's facial features imprinted on me as a feeling. It makes me feel like I have some kind of power to connect with people on a more personal level.

I'm autistic and I have the same problem. I will think I'm somebody else and my mind will cause me to imitate an approximation of them and their typical gestures when they are not around. Very bizarre.
