- The full guide to removing your Festiva B3 and Transmission! This shows the process to take the engine and manual trans out from the top side of the Festiva. The process is very similar for the Auto as well, with the additional step of removing the transmission cooling lines from the radiator.

Thanks for watching!
These videos will keep Festivas running for hundreds of years.
I loved this video. I dont even own a festival, I just love these little cars. Fun to see such a comprehensive and well made video of so many parts of the festiva!
Thank you! I will be doing more Vlog type content later this summer with my personal Festiva builds, so stick around if you want to see more!
Oh man, when the radiator hose came off and soaked the camera! Haha
Quality video guys! Thumbs up from Korea
Thanks for making these videos. My festy drowned in a flood a few weeks ago, so I'm doing levels of work far beyond anything I've done previously. It's definitely a learning experience lol.
Sorry to hear, hopefully you can bring it back!
I will have some full interior disassembly guide coming next year that may end up being useful for you then
I'm really glad there is some viable festiva info out there thanks
Great job guys! Very easy to follow.
I like when the coolant hits the camera lol
excellent video greeting from venezuela. I don't understand what he says because I don't know any English, but I did read the comments. Here in Venezuela there are many of those cars, they are battlehorses.
I applaud this impressive effort. Well done!
good video, I been avoiding doing this to my spare festy, but I got to at some point, it uses oil pretty good, plus trans input seal leaks bad, and have a good engine in a parts car, just need to do this, unfortunately no shop to work in, but want to have 2 festys going, & I want my spare to cross the 1/2 million mile mark, it is at 455K miles currently. it is automatic, but has an Aspire transmission
my daily festy is 285K and a 5 speed not original engine, nor is other car, but great fun cars.
I've been dreaming over owning a little Festiva for about a year now since watching the Regular Car Reviews video on them and remembering they exist. But I already own 5 cars, so I would have to sell one or two cars before justifying getting another project. With that said, I'm going to love watching your videos! For now, watching these will be the closest I can get to playing with them myself!
Haha that was my first Festiva in the RCR review! I drove it from Illinois all the way to PA for Mr Regular to drive it.
Thanks for tuning in!
@@SametIndustries No way?? That's awesome! Well then let me tell you that I LOVED that video, and I LOVED your Festiva, I'm going to love watching your videos and getting to know these cars better. I need to drive one!
Have you ever driven a 1 liter Geo Metro? How do these cars compare in drivability?
@@carfoolery6646 they are a bit faster and handle a little better than a metro, and a lot more space inside. They get slightly lower MPG due to that extra power/bigger engine.
However, the greatest strength of the Festiva is in its community. The Festiva has the greatest, most helpful community out of any car group I've ever been in, period.
That, and the Festiva group has a lot more members that are racing focused. The Festiva is actually a fantastic track car / insanely capable daily driver with only a few simple mods.
I'd definitely recommend that you join us on Facebook.com/groups/fordfestiva if you haven't already!
@@SametIndustries Oh dude, I joined the facebook group a month ago or so, that's how I found your video!
My second question for you, How did you like the RCR video when you finally saw it? And why did you bring your "parts Festiva"? for Brian and Nick to review?
@@carfoolery6646 It wasn't really a parts Festiva, it was my daily that would eventually donate its parts to my clean shell once I finished building it. My rust free car has been on the road for a few years now, currently down for an engine swap that I'll be talking about in a video soon.
I liked the video for the most part! I'm very aware how silly the car was, so I was fully expecting to get torn apart in a review haha. Overall I enjoyed it, but at the same time, I'd like to go back and have them drive one of my well sorted Festivas instead, knowing the things I do now
big job fella,s very well-done,
I'll be following your videos now. Festiva is pretty much similar to kia pride a very popular car here in philippines. keep up the good work.
Yea, tons of my videos should work directly with the Pride and the Mazda 121! Thanks for watching, and feel free to share to any other Kia Pride owners
Paused the video just to go PB Blast my downpipe studs xD
If you do a B6T pull from a XR2 and the swap you'll be my hero. Well, you're already my hero, but I don't know a better title.
I'll be doing a full B6D swap guide very soon. After that, I was planning on a very thorough B6T swap, but now I'm using an aftermarket ECU for my B6T, so it will be a little different. I'm still wanting to B6T swap someone's car using the stock ECU, if someone brings the car here...
If I could get my car there I wouldn't be doing a motor swap 🤣 thanks for the video, looking to pull mine this summer, hopefully you can help with some parts on your site 👍
Found my sensei.
Do you have a video how to change valve seal?
I have a 1989 that's has no spark to coil or dis do you guys ever talk on phone and give advice ?
Not usually, I can help occasionally on messenger but not a lot of free time these days
Was there a specific reason you decided to pull the trans along with the motor? Is it overall just easier? Or did you need the trans out for other reasons? Appreciate the video I plan to put a b3 in my festiva this weekend, it's current motor haz a cracked block
It all depends on the car and what you are trying to do. In this case, it all needed to come out anyway.
If you just want to change the engine, you can do that as well, just needs lots of angle when pulling (front of the motor pointing up) and it can be difficult to line up the transmission input shaft going back in. And 1 trans bolt is a little tricky to get to if the bracket for the water line is still in the way.
For doing a clutch, it's usually easier to drop the crossmember and drop the trans out from the bottom of the car.
However, if the car has rust, I would never recommend taking off the crossmember, as the front bolts under the radiator will often tear right out of the metal. Rusty cars should always have everything done by pulling from the top.
What are the two green wires for that run under the transmission?
The front sensor is the Reverse sensor, for the reverse lights
The one by the axle is the Neutral sensor, used by the ECU to adjust idle, not very important
Okay good because my cv axel burned my wires right in half. I'm tracing down an issue with my egi fuse. It keeps blowing everyone I turn the car over with the key.
Yall Doing A Bigger Engine Swap Into That Festi ? If So Can You Post Any Swaps Videos You Do ?
That's the goal
One thing I’m disappointed with is that the drive shaft also needs to come out you have already removed them :( You never mentioned at what stage did you remove them and how just that you will make another video?! Have you made this video yet ?
They are held in with a circlip. They should just pull out. Typically you want to rotate them a few degrees at a time, give it a couple hard pulls, rotate a little again and repeat.
Aftermarket axles however can become very stuck, in which case some extreme methods may be required
how about VID for the change of a clutch while engine still in the car?
It will be happening at some point early next year
Is that engine fuel injected i have a huge top mount ai t filter on my carb
Yes, it's fuel injected.
In the US, 88 and 89 Festivas are carbureted. (with the exception of the 89 automatics)
90-93 are EFI
@@SametIndustries thanks for the quick reply and great info ill be rebuilding mine soon.
How do I remove the battery?
10mm wrench to loosen & remove the battery terminals
Then, if still equipped, a 10mm nut hold on the J-hooks & battery tie down.
Cool
