I agree but cards are nowhere near as valuable as people thought they be. Besides a few very very rare cards, most even rookie cards have basically just kept up with inflation. Reminds of the example of the 90s kid who’s mom makes him put baseball cards in a frame but throws out the old pair of original air jordans. Lol even beat up old Jordan sell for ridiculous amounts and baseball cards aren’t worth very much more than they were then.
Trouts rookie sold for over 3 mil cpl years ago. I know none of these were that obviously, but gotta take the investment instead of the instant gratification
i wouldn't say it's a bad desition, finding someone to buy you that card must be very difficult, although the second option is significantly less money you don't need to do anything in order to gain the said income. The other one is mor of a game of luck if whether or not you'll sell that before you die and enjoy the money unless you just wanted the card cause you collet it/like it

Cost of gas and time to drive, plus (negligable, but factorable) car maintenance costs associated. 3. The bother of having to do all this, VS Taking cash and being able to spend it...hmm, not a hard choice frankly...
