    Having watched some of your videos I have just successfully taken out an old shower and tray and replaced it with a new bath and shower. The waste pipe was the dodgy bit, I came home from the bricomarche (France) with a huge bag of plastic bits and a can of solvent cement. All new to me. It was much easier than I thought it would be, and I had to do it, there aren`t any plumbers round here. Many thanks.

    I used powerful neodymium magnets on a wooden bath panel 5 or so years ago. Still holding strong and looks much better then screws with caps on :D keep up the good work

    I'm about to fit mine with magnets but in a completely different way. I've bought a kitchen door panel that fits perfectly and some round magnets that fit in the door's hinge holes. And it will all stick to the metallic frame I've built under the bath. Under the panel I have about 10mm gap, so I'll add some small feet to keep it from sliding down.

    Hi mate. I'm just refurbing my bathroom (a quick job) and removed the old wooden/laminate panel. It had a little lip at the top where the panel lip would fit into the groove under the bath. What I don't get anout your method is that you've not added any silicone at the top of the panel (where the plastic clips are). Wouldn't that mean water could get through this area via capillary action. Thanks very much for the inspiration btw...

    Never been a fan of plastic bath panels but I guess with a curved bath you don't have much choice. I've never bothered with the provided clips either, just use silicone. Not much point in those magnets if you're just going to silicone it in place anyway.

    What about adding a bit of polythene around the battons where they run on the ground to prevent any potential water ingress from rotting them over the years? Use a stabler to pin up four side of the polythene.

    • @waynesimpson2074
      @waynesimpson2074 Місяць тому +1

      Yup, can't believe he didn't seal off the bottom edge of the panel for the exact same reason, untreated softwood plus water =rot.

    Mate just get 2 hardboard panels and bend 'em around. Joint it up with a 25mm nozel on tthe sillicone gun.
    Honestly, why do bathroom supliers get away with not giving all the the basic bits you need. Bogs have gaping 10mm holes now at stupid angles. Pretty sure you are sposed to use the massive amont of clips they gave you on the bottom aswell.

      @@stuntmanwill the wall ones were screwed so he could carry on fitting the panel without it moving.he only put silicone on it as cos why not it’s belt an brace’s.
      He only siliconed the floor cos he was leaving it over night as he had to wait for the magnet latches to dry on the panel before he could continue,it’s a 2 day process

      I was wondering exactly the same about siliconing the bottom of the panel to the floor to stop water leaking from outside onto the floor (eg splashes while you’re in the bath/shower falling into the floor outside of the bath, then running under the panel and under the bath). I was planning to silicon as you describe, however I also wanted to allow a way for water to escape in case something leaks under the bath (e.g. the taps leak or the waste connection for example). I wanted to allow water out of underneath the bath, but not in. I’ve no idea how I could achieve such a solution. Anyone ever achieved this?
