i'm 84 and saw many of these cars or sister examples at Road America, Meadowdale, Watkins Glen, or the last Nassau Speed week in about 1967. Great memories.
Never seen anything like this before in modern days that is! Just came from simracing Assetto Corsa classic mods combined at old sixtis Sebring layout even more bumpy, setting up manual grid of similar classes as displayed here, driving the lovely handful of the Bizzarrini 5300 GT, using last week on my simrig to finetune analogue button details and scrutineering VR headset. After 90 mins close sweathy battle against Panteras, Jaguar E-Types, AC Cobra 427's, Ferrari GT 250SW/LM's, Chapparal 2E's, McLaren M1C/M8C's, Corvette StingRays, Ford GT40 MK.II's, Ferrari Dino 206's, Porsche 904 GTS's, Ferrari 250 GTO Series II's, Shelby Cobra hardtops, Ferrari 330 P3's, Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/3's, Ferrari 365 GTB's, Triumph TR4A's, etc, etc without a rest, except for a single planned pitstop, closed down, did my normal simracing analysis looking setups and so on. Then closed down AC Content Manager for whats next....and behind my more artificial scenery was hidden this delicious gem from reality!! Oh where do you start? I think I'm rebooting a long life and starting all over as a real racing driver with a single goal in mind - just a 15 minutes full throttle experience behind the wheel in one of these priceless gems ❤❤❤ "Thanks" for upload is so a little word.
Amazing performance from a car that was totally outclassed by the competition. Also that blue Cooper [29] was one of the Shelby teams King Cobra's if I'm not mistaken. A pre Can-AM sports racer. Also totally outclassed but well driven regardless.
I remember when CanAm came to a track in Canada after F1 was there the week before, and CanAm was turning faster laps ... it paid more, too ,which is why there were plenty of F1 and European drivers trying to compete..
Interesting how much faster these cars are probably now compared to when they were designed. Tire technology alone is a huge leap. In period they were much slower and probably even less reliable. "Vintage-inspired" might be a better name for what we are seeing.
Real cars; from an age when Motor racing was much less politics and far more about racing the cars. So sad to see that one that went off though. Broke my heart seeing it all smashed up.
I'm reminded about what Shelby said about the Lotus 30 and 40. He said that the Lotus 30 "handled like 10 lbs of horsesh*t in a 5 lb bag" and that the Lotus 40 "was a lLotus 30 with ten more mistakes!" He sure had a way with words. I've no idea what Colin Chapman had done to offend him.
@@shadmonk it could be that there were some faster drivers at the Gurney Cup. Also, maybe they were still finding a better setup with the Cobra back then... Also, an onboard video on the 427 Cobra showed Bill Shepherd having to deal with hand cramps...
Race Cars don't use water in their cooling systems they use coolant which is oil-based please increase the knowledge of your commentators. The racing is great listening to the less-than-knolwagable commentary is aggravating.
How have we gotten by all these years without you doing commentary? I believe most people watching know this Water, coolant whatever If you get aggravated by this it must be insufferable spending any amount of time with you...
@@MOMO41837 Disagree. Commentators on horse racing have a harder job, are very knowledgeable and it adds to the enjoyment. These guys sound like they need better info cards they can refer to.
Absolutely great race. The names and cars would make the commentating so much better
That is some speed racer stuff right there, love these cars!
Again, thanks for bringing us "thunder", @Goodwood Road & Racing!!!

It was a privilege to be Matthew Wurr's (car 99) pit crew started 16th, finished 7th, we had a very happy Saturday evening 😀
Fantastic Racing..
Yes...these are the fastest cars I've seen at Goodwood!!! Thanks again for all you do!!🇺🇸🎩🇺🇸..shout out from Litchfield County Ct.
Outstanding :)
Crickey! I've had to set the youtube speed settings to 0.75 to watch this!

Feeling this race is very fast
I love it!!
I hope I will be able to try it someday.
I would love to hear the speeds of cars at various points on the circuit.
Great video...the cars looked great
Still one of the best looking races...Cheers from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Beautiful Cars
Beautiful cars.
The T70 is my favorite all time car.
No love for that lone Cobra out there slugging away with purpose built race cars and coming in 8th? Assume a 427 car, but what a drive.

Dana Chevrolet in South Gate California, not South Cafe..
Great race! What would the Marshalls do if an EV caught fire?

Well what parts are modern and what not I always wondered about the regulations that are in place during these races.
@@Marauder1981 All cars are run to FIA Appendix K regulations.
@@GoodwoodRR Thank you.
@@GoodwoodRRwhat is appendix k ?
@@andrewklein7997regulations for racing historic racing cars. Basically they had to conform to their period correct specifications.

There is a lot of segments missing rom the full race, dont know if the video is corrupted or what.

Never heard the first quote before, but it was Richie Ginther who said the lotus 40 was the "Same as the 30 but with ten more mistakes"
Was 3 minutes added to the race? I must have missed it.
Yes 3 minutes is added for every 5 minutes under a safety car
can am cars were posting faster times than F1 cars of the day at the tracks they raced at too.
Shame there was no Shadow MK1 Can-Am in the mix.
But why 30fps? The livestream was 60, come on.
For Pete´s sake, get this in 4K. It´s 2023!
It’s the Lavant straight not La Vant, please!
interesting in this race the cobra beats all the gt40s. in the other race (gurney) it didnt
That's because this is a 427 Cobra.

Can we have a total of how much damage was done to very expensive Race Cars over the weekend? 😂
Who are the announcers?
Why didn't they let only the cars between the top three unlap 😂😂
Two cars have number 29.
No "parade lap" racing .....down under....they R RAcN
