Heyy I'm planning a solo trip in march to srilanka. If possible can you tell me how safe is it to travel solo. Also my flight will be landing at 10:00pm night in colombo so is it safe for me to travel at that time alone?

Hello Sareen!! How exciting!! Sri Lanka is definitely a safe and amazing place to solo travel. I have no regrets at all and can’t wait to go back! I also flew in late in the evening, which isn’t ideal. I’d recc you book a hostel/hotel for the evening, have the hotel arrange for your airport pick-up, and then start your day fresh the next morning. The airport is actually located in a town called Negombo, which is a neighboring town from Colombo. However, I found a super cute hostel 5 mins from the airport. Most travelers skip the capitol, as there are much nicer places to visit. Happy to answer any other questions or concerns you may have. Super excited for you!! You’re going to have an incredible trip!

You got this - feel confident! ☺️ If you’d like to provide your email, I can forward you the google doc of my complete itinerary. The hostel’s name is Hotel First @ Colombo Airport.

Hi did you take any US currency? I believe that some of the tourist attractions ask for payment in US$ We are 2 senior ladies doing independent travel in July so please pass on any other tips or advice that you think will be useful. Thanks for your very good vid. 😂😎

Awhh yay! You will have the best time!! I only paid in the local currency - rupees. If some of the more touristy attractions ask for payment in dollars, maybe they do that as a convenience to travelers but my experiences was all paid in rupees, so I would consider the local currency as your default for sure. If you think of anything else, I’m happy to answer any more questions you may have! Sri Lanka is an incredible country but it can also be sensory overload haha! Thanks for watching a safe and fun trip!!
