We should listen to music that glorify God. If the music that you listen that is secular but doesn’t influence you to sin or whatever, but the music is of the world, and we aren’t of the world, but just in it, just visiting.
thank you so much for sharing. at 26 yr's old, I am doing practices such as choosing to listen to the Christian song than the secular. Maybe this will help someone else reading the comments, but today I had a really rough day mentally/emotionally/spiritually. One way I cooped was going for a drive in my car and sitting alone and listening to music. Going through my music library I opted for Christian songs and this helped me return to myself and my mind/body/spirit unison more than any secular song I have in my music library could do.
Watching this video helps to remember and reflect upon my day's troubles and worries and how I cooped with them... and they make me "proud" of myself in the sense that I chose songs that bring tend to bring me peace and healing than ones that "ride out the vibe" or inflate the vibes/parts that are not truly me at the core.
Also a lot of secular music idolizes romantic love. Spiritually, demons go from bad music and videos into your spirit. Thats is why jesus commands followers to make disciples, heal, and cast out demons

Oh my.. thankyou so so much! One of the biggest questions I have had and literaly been fighting to find an answer to is this topic of music.. I love music, it is a huge part of me and my life. I have been worried about it, spending hours pondering whether I'm doing something wrong. I have maintained a balance between both styles of music. I just want to thankyou so deeply for this! There’s a song called moonlight and I love the song and the only part that’s wrong with it. It says put no one above me even though it’s just a song that says it and nobody’s actually saying that to me if I get into a relationship I might without knowing put them above Jesus so I made myself stop listening to that song.

Yes! the type of music we listen to really does matter even instrumental music. There is a spiritual side to everything or if not most things especially the music.

I know for me I used to listen to a lot of secular music before God saved me, and what I noticed or came to realize is sometimes when I would be in a good mood and listen to a sad song or depressing song or anything negative, it instantly would bring my emotions down.
Or likewise when I was sad or not in a good mood, up beat songs would raise my emotions. So yeah I believe that there is a spiritual side to it most often then not and like it says in the bible in
MATTHEW 6:22-23
''The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!''
And I believe its the same thing with hearing too. If the music we listen to is dark, ungodly, depressing, all about lust, and only fuels your negative emotions and totally goes against what God wants for us, and everything he says in the bible then really its good and best to not set our eyes or ears on things like this, but instead set our eyes and ears on things that are good, pure, and just, and that is glorifying to God. In the bible it says in
CORINTHIANS 10:31
''Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.''
even the music we listen to should be glorifying to God
At first it really can be hard to come away from secular music it was for me too. Especially when its played in the stores, in the ads and almost everywhere, but with God all things are possible and we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. stay strong guys and on fire for Jesus! i always taught about that. my brother always listen to a rockband that most of the lyrics are like about how sad and tough or unfair life is and stuff like that. or a sad rap song about breaking up with his girlfriend and feeling all alone. whenever he got drunk, he always blame himself or us for making his life miserable or something. me on the other hand listen to a happy and energetic songs. i listen to a pop punk music. so their are times that i get this midlife crises stuff like getting old sucks. XD
