The whole point of this product, as explained by the creator himself, was to have a "cute wife in a box", or "living with your favorite anime characters" for lonely single Japanese salary men, people with handicaps that need company ect. So you have a cute waifu waiting for you at home when you come back. Hikari sends you messages on the phone, asks you how was your day, and so on. This is emotional support. And what do they do with it? Let's strip it away from its main purpose, great idea! I really hope they at least let us the option to keep the original with a translation, if not, then I'll just import it from Japan eventually.
I would add a pair of insect like wings to the girl to make her look like a fairy or a pixie. That way the size would feel more adequate to the cylinder.

Pretty sure this is going to be a concept thats sought after in the future when AR becomes more consumer grade. personalization of a digital assistant is on pretty much every corps roadmap, and honestly human nature as a whole seeks more and more holistic styled interactions with our tech. the deviant action of forming relations is unfortunately just a side effect of our relatively primitive brains being tricked.
