Jose Saramago's House-Museum in Lanzarote

Atop a hill amid the rugged volcanic terrain of the Canary Islands, is a beacon of art and books. It is the home of Jose Saramago, Portugal's only Nobel Prize winner for literature. After his death in 2010, his foundation opened up the building in Lanzarote.

Saramago's first novel Land of Sin was first published in 1947, when he was around 25. He didn't start writing at 60.
