Wow, I played this concerto over 20 years ago, as a 16 year old student! Always liked the piece and was sad not to find it recorded. Finally it's here, I enjoyed this a lot! Thanks!
Impressive! These lesser known many concertos by legendary 18-19. century cellists are ALSO beautiful; especially when played, like here, with considerable joy, elan and virtuosic flair and almost zero “struggling🥵” with truly challenging passages.
Maestro Mandozzi really shines through this piece. Yet again maestro, you show your rich and warm tone like none other! Great job by the Extremadura Symphony and Maestro Amigo in the interpretation that matches Maestro Mandozzi perfectly
I know that the question was asked before, but does someone know where to find the score of this version ? It is quite easy to get the piano & cello version, but this one. If anyone can help... Thank you in advance !
Lyle Cohen I understand he comes across like this sometimes but if you’d seen him play live you would see he plays with such simplicity he’s an amazing cellist I attended one of his seminars and he’s one of the best professors I’ve worked with
I don’t hear him tense at all, of course as a soloist you have to play everything through a whole orchestra, which is insanely hard. But everything is executed flawlessly which of course wouldn’t happen if he was tense.
Criminally underrated
0:08 - 1. Allegro molto moderato
8:23 - 2. Andante espressivo
