In every draft there are 15 to 20 first round guys and 45 to 50 second round guys. Lynch even said he had 22 first round players so no matter who u pick at 31 it’s a reach. I do agree there seemed to be better guys available especially with only 2 secondary players being drafted before the Niners pick at 31. This only makes sense if the team is trading one of Debo or BA. Unless they are saying look we know one of them is leaving next year and it takes a year to get a guy up to speed so we need a guy now to groom him to be the starter next year when we lose one of our starters.
The 49ers have drafted well enough at the receiver position in the Shanahan-Lynch era that I don't second guess the decision. If Pearsall was their pick in the first round, I'm excited to see what he can do in this offense.
I don’t think he will be a bad player…but with Dbo, BA, Kittle, and Cmac, he will get like 4 targets a game. So what is the point

Well now that we have a receiver we could have drafted Saturday who definitely won’t make a difference this season when we need it as this teams window for a title slams shut
@@joep3475he was not going to be there on Saturday. He is a player. Dieter Kurtenbach of the San Jose Mercury, has been pounding the table for him for a month. He called the pick an “A+” on KNBR right after the draft.

We'll get a third MAYBE but most likely a Fourth and Fifth. Only trade him to a AFC team please.... I love Debo and how we played for my Niners but he's getting hurt all the time and can't separate from defenders like Aiyuk can.
Guy, Great reporting, both you and Silver. Straight up, I’m saying Purdy is better off with BA over Deebo but that’s more obvious next year. Maybe they use all three WRs this year and see if it sorts itself. Sometimes when you’re forced into a tough choice, you’re better off not choosing
Adding offense and solidifying our Defense in the first two picks would be awesome..then go OL LB TE CB S rest of draft best player at each position. That will build depth for our future.
Also, Deebo is totally worth a second. Acquiring team gets him for 2 years, 40 mil with 20 guaranteed because the dead money sticks with us. But again, we still should not do it.
Let’s keep this receiving core together at least for one year . I think it can do some major damage this upcoming year and will only help brock. Let’s invest in some olineman and I’ll be good
If Dejean falls to Washington’s pick in the 2nd rd and they want Deebo I say do it immediately. Getting Dejean in the 2nd rd would be a steal!!

Yeah, it is a big dead money figure in the low 20 millions, but his cap hit is 28 million. It is still a net saving. They dont even need the Aiyuk extension to do it. The bigger problem remains .... they would be subtracting from a championship roster in win now more. For what?
Is it? Deebo has been a no-show in 2 SBs. Literally was a non-factor. Deebos best days are behind him. He still obviously has ability but great teams know to let a player go even if it's a year early. Trade BOTH Deebo and Aiyuk for 2nd's and stock up in a heavy WR and OL class.

David Lombardi pointed out that the dead money is outweighed by the $39 million savings over the next 2 years.
Did David Lombardi factor in what you would need to pay Deebo’s replacement, or are they just gonna start playing with 10 players on offense? This is the same nonsense they used to try to justify cutting Arik Armstead. It freed up some cap space but then they brought in Maliek Collins and that cap space was gone. The only way they save money against the cap is if the replacement player is paid less than the cap savings.

He’s injury prone, he is top 5 in the league in dropped passes every year because he’s really a rb, he’s a bad route runner and can’t beat single coverage, he’s injury prone, and he has not lived up to his contract, and he will never top 1,000 yards. He’s not worth it trade that garbage

Pearsall could just be Deebo/ Ayuik Insurance. Deebos play style gets him injured and we dont know if Ayuik will hold out. However they shouldve traded up a few spots and got one of the top 2 corners they were there.
BA does not do much without Deebo on field.
That's why you get an actual number 2 receiver to take the pressure off Aiyuk.....its why they picked Pearsall genius.
