Why it is important to meditate during the time of eclipses or on the solstice and equinox days. As we know during eclipses the sun, moon and earth are aligned in a line and that causes the obscuration either of the sun or the moon, Now in Kundalini tantra The Sun is connected with Pingala Nadi - masculine - -hot channel - meridian and the planet moon is connected with Ida Nadi, feminine -cool channel - meridian and the Earth is connected with the Central -Sushumna Nadi, which is governed by the Fire element and also connected with planet Mars (which according to Indian scriptures is the son of mother earth ). So because of the alignment of all three planets, all of these three channels easily begin to get activated. Ordinarily, the activation of these channels is not easy, but during these astronomical configurations, nature provides the opportunity for human beings to get connected with these cosmic bodies to attain a greater awakening of the mind and the expansion of consciousness. The same kind of electromagnetic forces show their manifestations during the solstices and equinoxes also when at the summer solstice the day is long and the night is shorter and in the same way at the winter solstice, the night is the longest and the day is shortest but during the equinoxes, the days of night and days are of the equal length. At the summer solstice, the sun reaches its highest point in the sky, while at the winter solstice, it descends to its lowest point.

Equinoxes happen every year on approximately March 20th and September 21st, when the Sun’s rays shine directly on the Equator. During these two points of the year, the tilt of the Earth in its rotational orbit is in a straight alignment with the Sun. The sun crosses the celestial equator and we experience balanced day and night, light and dark. When the Sun's path crosses the equator, the length of the nights at latitudes +L° and -L° are of equal length. With this, an incredible balance is created, and all over the planet, day and night are approximately equal. Masculine and feminine are balanced, and the playing field is level for all. The Equinox energy is essentially an ascension trigger; for humanity and the planet! During these equinoxes, the rays of the Sun shine directly on the equator.

The Twilight Hours - Sandhya Vandana According to Indian Yogic understanding during the twilight hours of dusk and dawn, the Central channel Sushumna becomes active, as it is the period of transition, from night to day and from day to night. In kundalini yoga Night is connected with Ida Nadi the Moon Channel and the day is represented by Pingla Nadi the Sun Channel, so when such transition takes place, when nature is neither in the day nor in the night, (in these transitional in-between times), so it is when the esoteric/occult powers of Sushumna comes into force and that is why in Indian tradition this time is considered the best time for meditation and other spiritual practices, as the mind can become quiet and calm easily. Humans go through this transitional phase also when they are falling asleep, it is when they are neither awake nor asleep, this is the twilight state Sushumna becomes active during this time also, so before going to sleep one may do spiritual practices to get benefit of active Sushumna during the twilight state. Tibetan Buddhists call this transitional state Bardo, where after the death of a person the spirit is not alive in the physical plane and yet not taken birth in another/next realm, so the spirit is moving about in Bardo in confusion, so around this time, if the proper instructions are given or the sacred words/scriptures read aloud to him, directed to his spirit, then being in transition with active Sushumna,s/he becomes more receptive to hearing and with this hearing he has the chance of moving to better and higher spiritual realms of the light.

Some wisdom traditions speak that our thoughts, prayers, words, and actions are amplified 10,000 times with a lunar eclipse (100,000 times with a solar). -- This is true because of the activation of the Sushumna Nadi - Central Meridian during the Solar and Lunar Eclipses. Sushumna Nadi is governed by the Planet Mars and which Ram - ram - the Agni Beej, as Fire amplifies everything when offered as oblation in the Havan Kund - the Fire Pit by turning the offered material into energetic subtle -astral vibrations and with this process takes place the changes in the surroundings and atmosphere where such oblations are performed. Chanted mantras in themselves carry the desired intentions and thoughts of the performer. Energy, force and powers always follow the intended thoughts and create and give shape to, in subtle astral dimensions whatever is desired.
