Can you imagine having a roller skate class in school, there’d be a portion of kids staying in school just to skate, we need more enjoyable activities like this
Yeah, this would be a great subject to teach in schools! I have a few friends that run after school skate clubs so hopefully stuff like that will pick up. It’s been a great few years for the culture though, the scene is really picking up!
Thank you and yeah the scene is so strong at the moment. So great to be a part of it, learning from some amazing skaters and documenting the culture 🛼 🎥 🔥
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video and it transported you in to the moment! So much vibrancy and talent in the skate community and this was a great event ✨
Thanks, glad you liked the video. There is a lot of talent and energy in the skate community so it's always a pleasure to shine some light on the scene 🛼🎥
Yeah, it was a great day. This year's event was great too, even though BG was rained off. Flippers and Roller Nation were both amazing. I documented these and I'm working on the videos now. They should be out in the next couple of weeks 🛼🎥
Heyyy I'm trying to get into this type of skating but I come from rollerblading. Could you tell me the type of skates you use for this? I see that everyone wears them quite loose!
For Jam skating (dance skating) most skaters wear artistic style boots. Riedell is a popular brand for these and also Edea and Wifa skates. For fast backwards skating (including chop and shuffle) and street skating, skaters like to wear hockey-style boots. Bauer is the most popular brand for these. Often people buy them as ice skates and then convert them into roller skates. Usually, they buy older Bauer models that are no longer in production (so you have to buy them from eBay) as these make better roller skates than some of the newer models. Hope that's useful info ✌🏽
Yeah this is asphalt I think with acrylic. The scene here has really picked up over the last couple of years. The London style is fast backwards speed skating but we also have some amazing jam/dance skaters so we're really trying everything and the level is rising! Very exciting time to be in the scene ✨🛼
There aren't any outdoor venues specifically allocated for roller skating. But there are a lot of locations where skate communities have emerged. A few include Bethnal Green Gardens, Burgess Park, Emirates Stadium, Finsbury Park, Victoria Park, Hyde Park, Riverside near the 02 arena and Crystal Palace Park to name a few...

Did I see Skate Lisa?I first saw her in person at HotSkates, which is closed now..Lynbrook,NY..I was teaching a class with my teammates back then..
Hey yes, Skate Lisa is in the video! This event attracts a lot of old school and new school skaters so it's always great!
Too bad we don’t have things like this in America.

Y'all got tuff skaters out there! what's that surface like? Concrete or asphalt with acrylic paint coat?

Could you told me please where in London.
Thanks
Bethnal Green Gardens ✌🏽
Are there anymore outdoor venues in london. Last time I roller skated was in 2010.

The nc links seem to be down?
Hey, I put more links in the description and just tested them so they should work okay now ✌🏽
