This video is al about the Audi 200 turbo or 5000s in the USA
this car is 170HP and 265NM
This car is for sale at "Jan Los & Leon Nuvelstijn"
this company is specialist in Audi's but also different german brands, but the most are '80 and '90 or and Rare Audi's
    www.janlosautos...
    link to the car
    www.janlosautos...
This is the start of the big saloon cars with the big powerfull engine's
at the time when this car came on the market it was one of the fastest in the range of big saloons
    this car produced 170HP @ 5300RPM and 265NM @ 3300RPM
the audi 200 or 5000s is based on the audi 100 and is a luxury version of the audi 100. it came with different bumpers, headlamps more luxury seats and more electric options in the interior
for the turbo or 5T there was an engine upgrade from 136HP to 170 HP and 80NM profit with the turbo. due to this power increase the valve train was changed, also the compression ratio is lowered and better oil cooling added.
0-100kph is possible in 8.6 sec for the manual version and 9.6sec for the automatic version
this 1 gen 200 turbo is not a Quattro but a front wheel drive version
the benefit of this is that the cars weight is only 1260KG the C3 that came after this C2 is 300KG heavier due to quattro chassis
if there are any questions just ask

    Interesting Audi Story.
Around 1987, I purchased a late 1980's Audi S5000 from a law firm in California that had the car parked in an underground business parking lot. Apparently, the car had not been used by the firm in several years. The owner was selling the Audi at the time. The car was completely covered in 1/2inch dust, untouched when I saw it. I remember, I could not even make out the color of the car. I was 23 years old at the time and was looking for a nice used reliable car. I asked the owner if I could see it. I had to jump start the car and hose rinsed it out in the garage. The color was light tan, tan leather seats 4 door, executive style moon roof, fully loaded. It was still in new mint condition with low miles.
I made an offer of 6k on the car and was shocked when the owner said "OK" What a deal! That S5000 turned out to be a very reliable car. I put a little over 200k on it before I retired it. Best car ever!👍

Nice job. Great video. I had one of these cars in America. The only came in automatic transmission versions there. It was a very good car. Drove it over 300,000 km

Damn you almost made me cry with this one. So much memories with this car. My late father had 2 of them in '90s. Both were automatic though and I spent so many hours working on them with him. When i heard that sound when you drove it i had chills down my spine, best sound ever it had. When father died i sold them because I was too young and it was expensive to maintain them but i love them. Thank you for this video man. Great job

In 1981, when I was 16, my Dad who already had a few Audi’s, asked me to research which new Audi he should next buy. I put on my sensible hat and told him he should buy the new Audi 90. I organised a test drive for him and visited our local Audi dealer. On the day as we were walking across the showroom, my Dad asked what the green car was that had pride of place? The salesmen said “Why sir, that’s the 200 Turbo!” My Dad said, forget about the 90 and bought the 200 instead. Love him. And such an amazing car to own in 1981, it felt so futuristic and more like a private jet than a car. I still remember the specs - 125KW, 0 to 60 8.6 seconds, top speed 125mph.

My buddy's dad back in 1986 had an Audi 5000. Probably the only one in the entire city as far as I could remember. Never saw another one on the road.

Good video, brought back good memories of an outstanding car. My first Audi was a US spec 1983 5000S. It replaced my 1981 Peugeot 505TD 5speed. The 505 was a good solid car, but horrible to repair. Calif changed the diesel specs and the new fuel destroyed my fuel pump, with no recourse. Once Peugeot left the US market, I stuck with Audi. There is something special about the Audi 5 cylinder cars. I've owned: 83 5000S, 81 4000S (5 cyl), 90 Audi 200 fwd, 87 5000S Quattro, 2000 A6 3.7, now own a 13 A6 2.0 Quattro. I miss the unmistakable 5 cylinder thrumming sound.

Actually, in North America, the 5000s was normally aspirated. The turbo version was called the 5000 Turbo. I owned a 1980 5000 Turbo automatic back in '89. I didn't even know they were available with a manual transmission. I suspect the manual wasn't available on this side of the pond.
Thanks for the video, it brought back some great memories!

Love the car, great video again. The 200 looks so different, i didn’t know it was just in the bumpers. As normal to this day the engine is far in front, thanks again

    it is my favourite car
The spear parts in Kuwait is too expensive that time
    For example at that time:-
    Brake pads for Audi €97
    brake pads for Mercedes €51

Wow, time travel. While difficult to envision now, in this era these cars embodied a unique styling direction that was smoother with more rounded corners. Compare, for example, the bi-turbo Maserati cars that came along a couple years later, or the contemporary Astons -- or more mundane fare like the Japanese cars of the period. "Boxy" was the styling trend though at the time the words used to describe the style were more like "crisp" and "taut." Audi was a little step ahead.

Unfortunately, these are not mechanical injection. That would be injection like the Kugelfischer on BMW 2002 tii, or MFI on Porsche 911T, 911S, 934 turbo. Your Audi has Bosch K-jetronic constant injection system (CIS)

I think the design of this car is one of the most beautiful Audi has done. My grandmother had a green 1977 Audi 100 LS. I would love to have one just like that.

I had a 1980 5000s in 1990. My first car. It sat a year before I bought it. what a piece of junk. It was great when it ran but it didn't run very often. Green on green. slow automatic. 5 cigarette lighters and 4 or 5 ash trays. batter under the rear seat was a pain. That silly slotted dash in front of the passenger was angled so that everything would fall off. given enough time it would go well past the indicated 85mph on the speedo, and do it smoothly and confidently. I was once had it pinned and let off the throttle and it took 45? seconds for the needle to show we were slowing. Oh yeah I had to tell people to make sure the outer door handles would back to the closed position or the door would swing open when we were driving.

      G55STEYR:
So true. You could say me and my friends/classmates were from upper-crust rearing....benefit to that, we all pretty much drove what was "new" in the 1980s USA. My friend/classmate had a 2nd Generation 5000 (non-quattro)...that damn car had a super-quiet highway ride (very little wind noise), but the handling and steering was very clumsy with that crude 5 cylinder engine noise and position and the wacky way the steering rack pulled on the struts to turn the wheels.
Meanwhile, my then "new" Peugeot 505 5speed TD....handling and steering was far superior to the Audi...and even my other classmates 300D Turbo Diesel sedan. The Peugeot ride blew both those cars away at any speed.
