"Police truly don't do anything unless you're physically harmed" so true. Even when someone is physically harmed, you need evidence. In CA it's now illegal to film someone without their consent, so if she brought video evidence of her husband physically abusing her to court (in CA if that's where she lives) they legally wouldn't be able to use the footage as evidence. It's all fucking insane, I really hope that the legal processes needed to get her away from him and to keep him away will go smoothly and that one day soon she'll be able to get out of that situation for good.

I understand your sentiment but thats just completely false, one the california recording law is entirely about private conversations in which all parties of a conversation to which there is a reasonable expectation of privacy must consent to someone recording the conversation. This also has to be intentional, recording physical abuse already has nothing to do with it. Second even if you are recording conversations if you are recording it for evidence of a crime and one party consents its completely legal.
“You can’t use evidence of a crime because the criminal didn’t consent to it” in what world would evidence of a crime get disregarded because the perpetrator didn’t consent to it being used? Maybe research or simply have common sense instead of white knighting in the hopes you get recognized you poor soul.

Does anybody understand "Stockholm Syndrome" or habits? Once you get used to something it is difficult or near impossible to stop doing old habits. Granted, this isn't exactly Stockholm Syndrome, to be fair. It's similar to people who smoke or do drugs or even alcohol. She is basically in rehab right now, metaphorically. A similar situation: I bite my nails and fingers. I've done it since I was a kid. I try to stop but I can't, I always go back to biting my fingers and nails.
